Chapter 15
Lillianna
“Lilly,” Toby’s voice whispers through my dream.
I groan, trying to shift and roll over, but I can’t.
“Lilly, baby, get up.”
Blinking my eyes open, I look up to find Toby’s face an inch from mine. “Ahhh, hi?” I give him a sleepy smile as my mind plays catch up.
“Hi.” He grins, leaning forward to brush his nose against mine. I fucking melt. “As much as I want to stay like this, with you in my arms, for a while longer... I think we should get up before our parents find us.”
Brows furrowed, I look around and find that we’re still in the basement. “Shit, we fell asleep, didn’t we?”
“Yup,” he says, brushing some hair from my face.
“Toby, Lilly?” Rain’s voice has my eyes widening. “Dear god. I told you to clean up after yourselves,” she groans.
Scrambling to sit up, I realize I’m naked with only a blanket thrown over me. My eyes snap to my mama’s widening in horror before I slap my hand over my mouth and slam myself back down onto the couch, squeezing my eyes shut.
“Kill me now. Kill me now. Kill me now,” I say in utter humiliation.
“I’m glad you two worked things out. And I’m happy for you both. But dear god, this basement smells like sex. And really, Lilly? Naked? Couldn’t have put your clothes back on before falling asleep.”
“Sorry,” I squeak out. The feeling of Toby’s chest shaking has my eyes cracking open. Turning my head to the side, I find the asshole grinning. He thinks this is funny? Of course, he would. He’s told Rain about his feelings for me and his intentions. So, I know that's why she’s not freaking out right now.
But no one wants their parents walking in on them doing the dirty.
Okay, well, we were only sleeping. Naked. God.
Glaring at Toby, I mouth. “You're dead.”
He just grins wider.
“Your mom is making breakfast with Theo. Jax and Brody took Bennett over to his friend’s place. But Chase is on the hunt for you, Lilly. I’ll keep him busy and give you two a chance to get out of here and showered.”
“Thank you,” Toby answers, his thick, gravely voice doing things to my body they have no right to.
“Please tell me you're being safe,” Rain sighs.
“Ahhh. I’m on the pill?” I offer back.
“Do I need to give you another box of condoms, Toby?” Rain asks clearly amused.
“Nope,” Toby answers, grinning at me. “They would just go to waste.”
My lips part in shock, and my horror is transferred to my big-mouth boyfriend.
“Fuck sakes,” Rain groans. “You better clean this couch, Tobias Munro!”
“Will do, Mama Rain.”
Groaning, I wish that the ground would open up and swallow me whole. I close my eyes and cover my face.
Once I no longer hear Rain’s footsteps on her way up the stairs and hear the door shut behind her, I shoot up into a seated position. “What the fuck!” I hiss, eyes comically wide.
“What?” Toby asks, moving to his back and stretching his arms above his head. He lets out this sexy groan that has my thighs clenching.
Forgetting about the fact I was about to give him a piece of my mind, my eyes trail down his body, over his rippling, tattooed abs, and down to that mouth-watering cock.
“Like what you see, Flower?” Toby asks, smugness in his voice.
My eyes snap up to his, and a scowl finds my face. “Yes,” I admit.
“Wanna repeat of last night?” He gives me a lazy smirk as if one of our parents didn’t just walk in on us being naked together.
Do I want a repeat? Ah, fuck yes. But am I going to? Not right now.
Narrowing my eyes, I huff, yanking the blanket off him as I stand to cover my body.
Bad idea. My eyes drop to find him in his full, naked glory, laying out for me like Rose did for Jack in Titanic when he painted her.
To add to the moment, he lifts his fucking arms over his head, in the same damn pose she was in, and grins.
Swallowing hard, I shamefully let my eyes trail down his body again, right to his very stiff cock.
He chuckles as I close my eyes, taking a few breaths to calm my damn pussy.
“Oh, come on now, Flower,” he teases with amusement as he moves to stand. He towers over me, my breath catching as I tilt my head back to look up at him. “You know you want me.”
“I do want you,” I whisper. “But not right now. Our family is upstairs.”
He sighs heavily, dropping a kiss to my lips. I can’t help but get tingles of pleasure. “You're right.” He bends over to grab my clothes, and I get a full view of his ass. I bite my lower lip to keep the giggle from slipping free. “What?” he asks as he stands, brow raised.
“That was an angle I never thought I’d see you in.” I laugh.
He just grins. “I can show you all the angles if you show me yours.” He wiggles his brows, making me laugh harder.
A burst of happiness spreads through me. This. This is everything I’ve been missing with this man.
To see him so carefree and happy right now means the world. Years of him being angry and cold... it hurt, not only because it was directed towards me but because this once lively man changed so drastically.
“Stop it.” I laugh, grabbing my clothes from him and dropping the blanket. “Get dressed.”
Once we’re done getting back into the clothes we wore down here, each of us catching glimpses of the other with grins on our faces, I grab the blanket off the ground with intentions of throwing it right into the wash.
“Ahhh,” Toby says, rubbing the back of his head. “We have a problem.”
“What?” I ask, brows furrowing.
He points to the couch, where there’s a big white spot. “Oh fuck,” I groan.
“Gonna guess my cum leaked out of you,” he chuckles.
My cheeks burn as I give him a look. “Your cum, your mess to clean. Have fun with that.”
With that, I head towards the stairs.
“What the hell, Lilly?” Toby grumbles.
“That's what you get for being so smug when Rain came down!” I call back before jogging up the stairs.
Thankfully, no one is by the basement door when I come up. I head right for the laundry room, quickly starting a load before heading up to my room and showering.
Once I’m all ready for today–dressed in a cute pumpkin and ghost skirt, an orange top, and black and orange striped stockings–I head down to the kitchen, stomach growling as it demands to be fed.
When I get down there, I find my brothers and Toby sitting at the table.
“Morning, sweetie,” Mom greets me, pressing a kiss to my cheek as I pass by her. “Happy Halloween.”
“Happy Halloween,” I reply back, taking a seat at the table, across from Toby.
He grins, giving me a wink.
I try my hardest not to grin back or blush. But it’s nearly impossible.
Moving my eyes from him, I find Bennett with a funny look on his face as his eyes dart between the two of us.
Trying my best to act like nothing is going on, I give my brother a smile. “So, Benny, what are you up to tonight? Gonna go Trick-or-treating with the twins?”
Bennett snorts a laugh. “What am I, five? No, I’m not going out with the twins.”
“Ahh, nothing wrong with going Trick-or-treating as a teenager. We did.” I look to Toby.
“I didn’t say I wasn’t going out, I mean, hello, free candy. I meant that I’m not going with the twins. Some friends and I are going.”
“Oh.” My smile brightens. “That's awesome.”
He leans in, eyes flicking up to Mom’s before looking back to me. “Easton is going to be there too.”
My brows raise. “And how do you feel about that?”
He shrugs. “We’re still not on speaking terms. He’s been avoiding me at all costs. But his new girlfriend is Freddy’s sister.” He rolls his eyes, scoffing at the word girlfriend. “And she’s going with us too.”
My heart hurts for him. Not only did he lose his best friend, his first love crushed him before it could even become something.
“I say do your best to act like he’s not there and enjoy your time out with your friends. He’s not worth it, Bennett.”
He narrows his eyes. “You're one to talk,” he scoffs, looking at Toby then back to me.
My cheeks heat. “Okay, fair point.”
“Here you go,” Mom says, kissing the top of my head as she places a plate of ghost-shaped pancakes in front of me.
“Thanks.”
Once we’re done eating, I get a text from Bishop letting me know he’s outside waiting.
“Ready?” I ask Toby.
“Yup,” he says, getting up from the table.
“See you later,” I tell everyone, waving goodbye and following Toby out to the front.
When we get outside, Rain is there, sitting on the bench, coffee in hand. “Have fun, you two.” She gives us an amused smile.
I can’t look her in the eye. “Bye, Mama,” I say quickly before rushing to Bishop’s jeep.
Getting into the front seat, I close the door behind me.
“What's the rush?” Bishop asks with a laugh.
I look over to my handsome boyfriend and lean over, burying my face into his arm. “I’m mortified, that’s what.”
“Why? What happened?”
Sighing, I sit up and look out the front window where Toby is standing by the front door of the house, talking to Rain. I turn back to Bishop.
“You know Toby and I hung out last night, right?”
“Yeah,” he says slowly.
“Well, we watched a movie. And... stuff.”
He grins wide. “And by stuff, you mean fucked?”
“You're so crass,” I whine but nod. “Okay, yes, we had sex.”
“And how was it?” he asks.
I sigh dreamily as I remember the way he made me feel. “Amazing.” I shake my head. “Not the point.”
He chuckles.
“Anyway, so we, ahh... fell asleep. Naked.”
His brows jump. “Like, naked naked?”
“What other kind of nakedness is there?”
“I don’t know, half-naked?”
I roll my eyes. “Naked naked.”
“Wait, you fell asleep naked... in the basement of your parents' house. Damn, that's risky. What if one of them found you?”
My cheeks go bright red, and his eyes widen. “Oh my god. They did!”
“Rain did!” I groan, letting my head fall back against the headrest. “She saw my boobs. It was awful.”
“Oh my god,” he says, barely holding in his laughter. “What did she say? What did she do?”
“She didn’t do anything but tell us to get dressed before my mom or one of the dads came down and found us. Also, to clean up after ourselves.”
He blows out a breath. “Damn, Rain really isn’t bothered by any of this.”
“I think if we were a lot younger than we are, she would be. But she sees us as adults, and I respect her for that. But also, it’s really fucking weird to have a parent so... supportive of something like this.”
“Alright, ready,” Toby says, pulling open the back door and climbing in.
“What did she talk to you about?” I ask, turning in the seat to look at him.
He tries to hide his amusement but fails. “She said no more sex in the main house.”
“Oh god!” I groan, turning back around and closing my eyes. “Someone, just kill me now.”
“Never,” both guys say at the same time.
Without opening my eyes, I sit there and smile as Bishop pulls out of the driveway, very optimistic about what today’s events will bring us.
“We should have just come later tonight,” Toby grumbles.
We walk side by side through the fair. We’ve been here for a few hours, and I thought we were having fun. Sure, the guys haven’t spoken much to each other, but everyone’s still standing.
Bishop made a few jokes and got a blank, unimpressed look from Toby, but I think we’re making progress.
“Come on, you big grump. You're just mad she took the last candy apple.” I bite my lip, trying to hold back my grin.
About a half hour ago, we took a break from games and rides to grab some snacks. We waited in line for fifteen minutes, and the whole time, Toby had his eye on a candy apple that looked like a pumpkin. But just as there was only one person in front of us, the little girl ordered the last one.
The look of devastation on Toby’s face was both pitiful and funny. He’s been grumpy ever since.
“Well, at nighttime, they don’t allow kids. Seems like a good idea if you ask me. Get rid of the ankle biters,” he huffs.
A woman with two kids looks at Toby with shock.
“Don’t mind him, ma’am. He didn’t get his nap today.” Bishop gives her a charming smile before steering Toby away. When we’re away from people, Bishop steps in front of him. “Can we not let this get to you, please?”
“Fine,” he sighs. “I’m hungry.” He shrugs. “I need to eat something when I take my meds.”
My eyes widen slightly, looking up to Bishop. He nods. “I’ll go find you something. You two stay there.”
“Thanks,” Toby says.
“You didn’t take your meds yet?”
He looks down at me with a bit of a guilty look. “I have them. I grabbed them before we left. I just forgot. Kind of got distracted by cleaning the couch then getting ready. I’m sorry.”
“You don’t need to be sorry. I’m just glad you remembered. I wish you said something sooner, though.”
“You were so excited when we got here to start going on the rides, I didn’t want to make you wait.”
“Toby,” I say softly, stepping closer. “Your health is more important. I can wait. Your meds can’t. Do you understand me?”
He nods.
“I want to kiss you right now,” he murmurs, towering over me. His hands reach for mine, our fingers brushing together.
I suck in a gasp, a needy spike filling my lower belly. “I want you to kiss me,” I whisper back, heart pounding in my chest.
Bishop and I have been doing our best not to leave Toby out. Today, we’re here as friends, doing something we’ve done for years as kids. Boyfriends are put to the side for now.
A throat clears behind us, and I take a step back. “Sorry.” Bishop steps up, handing Toby a hotdog and a can of soda. “Not that I care, but I saw a few guys from the team at the booth next to us.”
“Thanks.” Toby takes the food from Bishop. We move over to a picnic table so he can eat.
As we sit and talk, waiting for him to be done, my mind drifts.
I know he doesn’t want to tell anyone about us. It’s only been a few days since we’ve gotten together, a week since he caught Bishop and me together.
It’s still new, and he’s making more progress than I expected. Still, it’s moments like this I just want to be with them and not worry about who might see us, because there wouldn’t be anything to hide.
But I’m not going to push. I’ll give him time. How much time? That, I’m not sure. I already felt like I’ve given him years, how much more time does he need?
After Toby eats, we spend the rest of the day enjoying ourselves. We laugh, take photos, ride the rides.
Honestly, it’s the best day I’ve had in... well, I don’t remember how long.
The sun is setting, and all the kids are leaving. Now, it’s adult time. Something I haven’t been able to attend because you have to be at least sixteen years old. Last time we came to the Halloween fair, I was fifteen.
Toby and I drifted apart just before the Halloween of my sixteenth year. I didn’t want to go alone or do this yearly tradition with Bee or Jonas when it was mine, Toby's, and Bishop’s thing.
“So, what do you want to do first?” Toby asks, spinning around to face me.
I grin up at him in excitement.
The fair becomes a completely different vibe for the adults. More dark and creepy.
It takes about a half hour for them to change everything over. But the one thing that only opens at night time is the fun house that leads to the haunted house.
“Everything.”
