EPILOGUE
CANE
“ Y ou okay?” I smile at my soon-to-be husband, who’s holding onto my hand as we both stand there in our tuxes underneath the tree in our backyard. Apparently, it takes two weeks to get a marriage license in Kansas, and we didn’t waste one second.
Dutton is standing on my side, and Walker is standing next to Archie, with a few of our friends sitting in chairs out on our lawn.
It’s a beautiful spring day, but I’m pretty sure even if it were snowing right now, I wouldn’t care.
Baby, Dolly, and Reba are standing right behind us, in their fence that goes around their barn because they can’t really be trusted not to eat decorations. Peaches and Cookie are sitting with Oakley and Travis in the front row.
It’s chaos. Absolute chaos and not at all the wedding I would have had with Evie—who also happens to be in the crowd with her new man. She looks happy and content, shaking her head with a laugh when Peaches lets out a very unladylike snort. My parents weren’t invited, despite Archie telling me he’d be fine with them coming. I wasn’t. I didn’t want them to ruin this day if they accepted the invitation.
Today is a day for celebration and embracing love. There’s no room for anything else.
“I’m more than okay. I can’t wait to be your husband,” I answer honestly and then look back to Mae, who happens to be ordained and is officiating the wedding for us. She smiles and finishes the vows before pronouncing us married here on this land—our land—in front of our friends, family, and animals.
We kiss and then make our way through the crowd, who are cheering wildly for us and to my truck that’s decorated with Just Married written on the sides and back. We head to the square in downtown Hayes—after Walker promised to lock up our babies before he directed everyone else to the reception.
We still have a bit of time before they all arrive, so I can’t really be blamed for pulling off on a minimum maintenance road, blocked by a lot of trees and park the truck. I climb out and open his door before I’m met with his eager lips. He’s totally on board, and that’s good because we don’t have too long.
We waste no time opening both of our pants and un-tucking our shirts, kissing and pawing at each other before I’m bent over the hood, and he’s sliding into me from behind. The truck is warm, and I dig my fingers against the metal, thrusting back into him and chasing my release.
“I can’t believe you’re my husband.” He pulls back until his cock nearly leaves my body and then pushes into me again, stroking over my prostate and making me see stars. “Don’t touch yourself.” I groan, my hand stalling from what I had planned, and he leans over my body. “I want you to finish in my mouth.”
“Gnngh,” I grunt, the thought nearly making me come without touching myself. “Hurry.”
“So damn bossy, husband,” he purrs, but I feel his dick jerk inside my ass. “Fuck, I love saying that word.”
I love hearing it, but I’m nearly too far gone. I silently plead with him to come, pushing back against him and squeezing around him. Finally, he stills inside me, his warm cum bathing my insides, and I shudder with the pleasure of it. Trying to catch my breath and get control.
Soon he’s pulling out of me and dropping to his knees, spinning me around and taking me into his mouth. It only takes a couple of hard sucks on my aching cock before I’m spilling down his throat. It goes on forever, but when I’m drained, I pull him up to me and kiss him hard.
“I love you, Archie.”
“I love you, Cane.” He kisses my lips. “Husband.”
“Husband,” I say with a grin, and then we clean up as best we can, going to the reception, where everyone is waiting. And no one is surprised to see how disheveled we are.
Neither of us are bothered by that fact though. They’d all do the same.
During our first dance as a married couple, I can’t help but look around at all the other couples here, happily swaying to the music and in love.
I’m sure none of them saw this future for themselves either, but somehow, we all made it here.
To the exact place where we’re supposed to be.
We all found our perfect balance.
