Orson
“I think that I smell Rogues.” My Beta, Jared, murmurs as he snuffs the air, “It seems like they are after someone, and I don’t know what’ll happen next. I think that we need to be cautious because it seems like they are going to do something. I don’t know but it feels really weird.”
“We will find them.” I murmur, having already been tracking the scent, “They are going to quickly realize how fucked they were coming onto my land.”
Something that pisses me off is when Rogues think that they own the place. I hate it, pissing me off to the point I want to strangle them. It’s nothing that I can deal with, a weird sensation filling me on the inside as I’m trying to figure out what to do next. I don’t know what game is being played but it is clear that I’m going to find out sooner rather than later.
My nerves are completely shot at this point, making me lick my bottom lip as I’m tempted for a lot more. It’s a dangerous game going on right now and I know it is highly possible that this could turn around and bite me in the ass. I continue to follow the scent, feeling like my heart might burst out of my chest if I’m not careful. I’m not sure what to make of any of this because Rogues know better than to show up here.
“I think we are reaching that bar on the outskirts of town with that wolf owner.” Jared tells me although he doesn’t sound too sure, “maybe the Rogues are after her.”
I couldn’t be too sure but when we walk into the clearing, I see a group of Rogues surrounding someone.
“What are you doing on my land, Rogues?” I suddenly speak, feeling a bit pissed that they think they could show up here, “Let me guess, you want to fuck with my people?”
The Rogues immediately look at me, fear on their faces but they are not who caught my attention. I still almost immediately when I see a beautiful woman tensed up, as if she was preparing to fight. She doesn’t seem very tall, dressed in more casual clothing. Her long, straight red hair falls down to her waist and I can see the fear and agitation in her green eyes. She looks at me and I can tell she isn’t too sure about what is happening here.
“I suggest you leave if you know what is best for you.” I murmur, knowing that there’s no way that I’m going to let these bastards stand in my way, “I don’t want to have to kill you.”
The Rogues almost immediately scurry off, knowing they are not supposed to be on my lands in the first place. I turn towards the woman, seeing how she relaxes a little bit but still doesn’t look too sure. I don’t know what her name is, finding myself a bit curious to find out but I also know it is possible that she might want to hold me at a distance. It’s a dangerous game being played right now, and I have no idea what to make of it if I am being honest. I don’t know what she might end up doing but it is very clear to me that this is a game that not everyone might win.
“Are you okay?” I ask her, stepping closer, “my name is Alpha Orson, I’m the leader. What is your name?”
“My name is Elara.” She tells me softly, “I am the owner of the bar.”
I hold out my hand for her to shake and when she takes my hand, I stiffen almost immediately when I feel the electric current through my hand. She seems to freeze as well as it dawns on the both of us that we are fated mates. I don’t want a mate, having not even thought about it and I have no idea why this woman is even my mate. It doesn’t make any sense and it confuses me more than anything. I’m a bear-shifter, she is a wolf-shifter, there shouldn’t be any connection.
She doesn’t seem too pleased either, letting go of my hand and taking a step back. I’m not so sure what to do about it, feeling a bit weird about this entire situation but it is pretty clear to me that I have no idea how to handle this. If I’m lucky, we might end up figuring out, but it seems like we’re coming to a complete standstill right now. I guess I better figure this out one way or another. I mean, what is the worst thing that could happen?
“I’m sure they will be leaving you alone from now on.” I assure her, hoping that she is okay with whatever happens next, “I’m sorry that they bothered you like that and I’m almost a hundred percent certain that we will be able to deal with them later. Okay?”
I don’t know how to make her see what’s going to happen, but I end up walking away from her to put some space between us. I don’t want a mate and it seems like she doesn’t want me either. I should be okay with that, but it makes me feel a little sick to my stomach at the thought that she wouldn’t want me at all. I mean, how can she not want someone like me?
“I want all the information we have on her.” I tell Jared, seeing how he looks at me with confusion.
I don’t have to answer anything to anyone, it’s just how it is.
