Chapter Twenty

Spencer

“We don’t have enough onesies.” I plopped down on the bed and sighed. “I only have a few weeks left and we don’t have enough sleepers. Our baby is going to go around naked because all their clothes will be in the laundry, and we didn’t buy enough.”

“You can get more. You are only six months along, there is time.” Isaac stood by the doorway, laughing at me. “But are you sure you don’t have enough? I thought I just saw you put away ten of them.”

“I read on this one pregnancy chat board that you should plan for three outfits a day to be safe. I don’t want to be washing clothes every day, so I need more.” I lifted my head off the bed and gave him my best attempt at a glare. That didn’t work and he only laughed harder once I tried to get up and failed. “You shouldn’t be laughing at your pregnant bestie.”

“I’m not. I’m laughing at my overly pregnant brother-in-law struggling to get up off the bed he so dramatically flopped onto a few seconds ago. And I am sure Nicola will lend you some clothes if you need some. She should have a bunch.”

“Is it bad that I want my baby to have their own brand-new clothes? I mean, I will take some hand-me-downs, but I want to go buy more of those cute little outfits and pick them out myself.” Why do I feel tears in my eyes? Dammit.

Isaac walked closer to the bed and held out a hand. “Here, take my hand and I’ll help you up. We can go take a ride into town and get a few more things. Liam won’t mind. If I know my brother as well as I think I do, he’s been waiting for you to ask him to take you on a baby shopping spree.”

“Thanks.” Grabbing his hand, I let the brat hoist me up. “But we need to also stop at that one café in town. I need one of those tiramisu brownies and a white chocolate hot cocoa.”

“Hot cocoa, in this weather?” Issac raised a brow. “Dude, It’s the middle of a summer heat wave and you want hot cocoa?”

“Shut up and just tell your brother to feed me.” Embarrassment threatened to bubble out of me in the form of tears. “Why can’t everyone just let pregnant omegas drink and eat their cravings in peace?”

“Got it.” Isaac held his hands up, palms facing out and backed up away from me. “Don’t question a pregnant omega’s food choices.”

“Correct. You will thank me for this lesson one day.” I walked out of the bedroom and found Liam in the kitchen. “Tell your brother that the lessons I am teaching him here today will do him well in the future with his own mate.”

“I am sure that you will be happy to have knowledge of pregnant mates when the time comes for you, Isaac.” Liam took me in his arms and sniffed my hair. “I actually can’t wait to see my bro fall helplessly in love.”

“Shut up.” Isaac playfully shoved at his brother. “Not everyone is meant to be mated up and popping out babies. Between you guys and Nicola and Ethan, our family line is nowhere near going extinct. I think I can avoid the curse of a mate.”

“Curse of a mate, huh?” I shook my head. “I agree with Liam, I can’t wait to watch you fall.”

“Don’t hold your breath.” Isaac smirked. “There are too many sexy omegas out there to settle down with just one.”

“We’ll see.” I sat down and the guys joined me at the table. “Let’s get dinner. I’m hungry. Feed me.”

Liam

“Is that all you’re getting?” The two onesies in my mate’s hands didn’t mix with the way that my brother had described Spencer’s earlier freak-out over baby clothes. “You can get a few more if you want.”

“These are the only ones I like here.” Spencer frowned down at the onesies. “We should have found out if the baby is a girl or boy. I don’t like these neutral ones. They are boring.”

“So then get any of the ones you like, it doesn’t matter if we have a girl, she can wear blue and play with trucks. I could care less if my son wears a onesie with a ruffle on the butt or not, honestly. If you mind, we can either return them after you give birth or put them away for the future. If we don’t need them, I know Nicola and Ethan have no plans on stopping at just five.”

“Seriously?” Isaac popped his head up from behind a display of designer diaper bags. “We are bears, not rabbits. What is wrong with those two?”

“Nothing is wrong with wanting several kids.” I rolled my eyes at my twin. “They can support the children emotionally and financially, so don’t give them any grief. They don’t hound you about settling down, do they?”

“No. They don’t.” Isaac walked closer to us and picked up an adorable rainbow-colored sleeper. “You need to buy this. My nibling needs it.”

“Nibling?” Spencer smacked Isaac on the arm. “Don’t call my baby that. It sounds too much like nibbling, like you are nibbling on a piece of cake. Nope. I don’t like it.”

“Dude, I know a bunch of people who use it to be non-gender specific about their siblings’ kids. I think it’s cute.”

“I don’t.” Spencer grabbed the sleeper out of Isaac’s hands. “But I agree that we need to buy this. And let me sit with the title nibling for a bit. Maybe I’m being harsh. I just—why do I keep wanting to cry?”

Isaac gathered my mate into his arms and rubbed his back. “Hush now, Spence. It’s okay. We are supposed to be having fun, remember. After this, we still have a treat to get.”

“We do.” I took the items from Spencer and kissed his forehead. “Here. I will take these and pay for them. You stay here and get all the Isaac hugs you can handle. When I come back, we can go next door and grab lunch and then go get your brownie and hot chocolate, okay?”

“Okay,” Spencer mumbled into Isaac’s chest. “Love you guys.”

“We love you too.” I walked over to the register and placed my items down.

“Did you find everything you needed today?” A sweet older woman stood behind the register. I had seen her around town and whenever Nicola dragged me in here to shop. “Haven’t seen your sister in a while.”

“She’s busy with your brood. She just delivered her fifth baby, so I’m sure she will be stopping in soon.”

“Another boy?”

“Nope. This time a girl.”

“That little girl will never be bullied.”

“That’s for sure.” I chuckled. “Amelia, this is my mate Spencer. Amelia’s son went to school with me and Nicola. She’s always been like a second mom to me.”

“Oh, you are too sweet. It’s great to see this one finally find his mate.” Amelia scanned my purchases before gesturing toward the machine for me to scan my card. “Here, take these cookies and give them to your omega. My son owns the bakery nearby and gave me some to share with anyone who looked like they needed a treat. If that sweet boy doesn’t need a treat, I don’t know who would.”

“Thanks, Amelia.” I grabbed my receipt and the tin of cookies. “I’m sure he will have me visiting the bakery often after this.”

“Have a great day, Liam. Say hi to your sister and let her know we have a few sales this week.” She winked and I moved away so she could help the next customer.

Walking up to my brother and mate, I tapped Isaac’s shoulder. “Good to go, let’s go get my omega fed. Oh, here are some treats.”

“Treats?” Spencer’s head popped up. “Are those from the new bakery?”

“Sure are. Amelia’s son owns it, and she gave these to me for you.” I handed Spencer the tin. “Ready to go?”

“Yes.” Spencer popped a cookie into his mouth. “I feel much better already.”
