Chapter Thirty Three

Starting Line

“She fell asleep,”

I whispered over the phone.

“Wake her up!”

Ava hissed at me through the phone, “tell her there’s an emergency down at the Barn,” she said, “make up something, she needs to get down here now!”

Ava hung up.

I pulled the phone away from my ear in disbelief. I looked at Juliette asleep in my bed with her face mask on. She just dozed off thirty minutes ago after knocking on my door with two face masks.

She fell asleep on my bed after putting on my face mask—well she said she was just going to sit down for a bit because she was feeling dizzy then she fell asleep, and I didn’t want to wake her up.

Now I had to, otherwise Ava would chew my ass alive.

I pushed my phone into my back pocket and walked to Juliette’s side.

I gently shook her shoulder. “Julie,”

I whispered.

I cleared my throat then started shaking her shoulder again. “Juliette.”

Her eyes snapped open, and she jumped up, clearly startled and punched the side of my head in the process.

“Fuck!”

I hissed as I placed my hand on the side of my head, crouching in pain.

“Cal?”

“Mhm-hmm.”

I forced out an awkwardly painful sound.

She gasped. “I’m so sorry, I’m sorry, I didn’t know.”

I shook my hand. “it’s okay, I deserved it.”

“It’s the face mask,”

she whispered, “come here.” She waved in between us and without hesitation, I ate the space in between us and sat next to her at the edge of the bed.

Juliette gently peeled off my face mask. “It made you look scary at first glance.”

“Thank you.”

I nodded as I reached out to peel her face mask.

She cupped my face. “Are you okay?”

She tilted my head to the side inspecting the spot she punched.

I pouted. “It still stings a little.”

Her brows furrowed, her eyes softened then she pouted, “awww poor baby.”

She pulled my head down and kissed the side of my head, “better?”

I shamelessly shook my head as I inhaled her flowery fragrance.

She kissed the side of my head again.

“Better?”

I looked up at her through my eyelashes then slowly shook my head with another pout.

Juliette smiled, and somehow, I knew that somewhere a flower just bloomed.

“I think I know how to help,”

she whispered before her lips softly fell on top of mine.

She tasted like grapes, fresh sweet grapes. Before she could pull away from the little peck she just gave me, I cupped her face too. I gently rubbed her cheeks with the pad of my thumb and rubbed my nose against hers. I was inhaling her, savoring her, feeling her.

In that moment it felt like all I had to do was exist. Even breathing came with ease—it felt like we molded our own little world, where our shield was our feelings for each other.

I leaned in and kissed her again. Her hands tightened around my face as she pulled me in closer. I deepened the kiss with a soft brush of my tongue against hers. Juliette moaned into my mouth, and I could feel the tip of my ear burn with fire.

I was still not used to the heavenly sounds she makes. I sucked her bottom lip as I tried to pull her in closer. Her hand dipped into my hair as she pulled a handful of it, I groaned and caught her tongue as I sucked it.

This kiss was nothing like the kisses we’d shared before, no this was more. We kissed with reckless abandon, it was wet and sloppy, like we’d wanted this for a long time. I was kissing her like I’ve been starved of affection for a very long time, so it was hard to let go or slow down. I didn’t want to slow down, not when she was making those little whimpering sounds she did each time our tongues danced together.

I held her chin, but my hand was so big it was slightly wrapped around her throat as well—I could feel the vibrations of the small noises she was making for me.

“You’re incredible,”

I whispered against her lips in between kisses before taking her lips in again. I loved her lips.

They were candy, and everything else I’ve ever wanted.

Sweet, soft, full.

Her breath was short, and she was gripping my hair for dear life—or maybe for air. I tilted her head to the side and pulled away a little allowing her to take a breath.

“You need to punch me more often,”

I whispered against her lips.

She laughed as our eyes locked.

She softly punched my chest as she bit her lips.

I grinned as I leaned in, our nose was touching and our lips were only a hair away. “Does that mean you want to take my shirt off? Kiss me there too?”

She held her breath in like it was caught in the back of her throat, and I took it as a sign.

I leaned back and pulled my shirt off in a swift motion and leaned in again, brushing a kiss on her lips.

“Cal,”

she whispered, hands on my shoulders, softly touching me. Exploring.

“Julie,”

I mumbled, brushing my lips against hers, feeling the tips of her fingers on my skin. It was like a wildfire.

I’ve never wanted anyone this badly before. Her touch, just her touch—

“Fuck,”

I whispered.

I licked her lips, then kissed her again. I leaned in even closer and kissed her cheek, trailing kisses all over. Her neck, her shoulder, her collarbone.

She pressed her nails on my back and dragged down, I groaned as I bit her neck.

“Callum,”

she moaned.

I instantly licked the spot as an apology and she held me tighter, nearly shaking in my arms.

“God, Juliette,”

I mumbled under my breath, fighting for my sanity, “when was the last time you were touched?”

She was out of breath, and it made me wonder how wet she could possibly be if she was shaking like that.

She chuckled nervously. “Not too long actually,”

she replied coolly.

I couldn’t tell if she was teasing me or if she was serious. Either way, something inside of me raged, jealousy plagued me. The thought of someone else touching her, feeling her like this—knowing what it felt like to pleasure Juliette before I could—drove me insane. The thought alone could kill me. I tightened my grip on her waist possessively. “Tell me you’re joking or God help me, Juliette—“ I felt the heat flush down my face, but I was calmed by the sound of Juliette’s soft giggles.

“I’m kidding, Cal.”

she murmured as she rested her head in the crook of my neck and breathed me in like I brought her as much comfort as she did for me.

“It’s been years,”

she replied softly, finally answering my question.

I smiled triumphantly and maybe I was a bastard for thinking only I could lay those kind of claims on Juliette…like she was mine. No one else needed to know what she sounded like when she was pleasured, no one else needed to know what her warm cunt could possibly feel like. I sucked in a breath as I trailed my tongue on her neck, then softly bit her earlobe. “We could fix that.”

I whispered.

My phone rang and Juliette immediately pulled away like we’d been caught or something. She closed her eyes and placed a hand over her forehead. I sighed frustratingly because I forgot all about Ava and her surprise for Juliette.

I cursed myself for not having it on silence in the first place—I made it habit to be reachable and now I was being punished.

I picked up the phone. “We’re on our way.”

My tone was clipped short.

“Okay,”

Ava said in a confused tone then hung up.

“Where are we going?”

“Ava has a surprise for you at the shop, I won’t tell you what it is.”

I stood and adjusted my awkward situation in the pants then grabbed my shirt. “But dress comfortably and be surprised,” I said as I kissed her. A quick, short-lived kiss.

“Wait where are you going?”

She laughed when I almost reached the door, “this is your room.”

I looked around.

“Oh.”

I chuckled as I walked back and sat on the bed, watching Juliette get out of my bed.

I grinned with an idea.

I waited until she stood up completely, then lightly slapped her ass. “Be quick.”
