Epilogue #3
He held her hand against his face. “You’re the bright, shining star I orbit around, and I will do everything I can to make all your dreams come true.”
“Don’t you know?” Her hand slipped away and clasped his again between them.
“You’re my dream. You’ve always been the one.
No one in this world makes me feel more special.
Throughout my life, I’ve tried to make myself smaller, to fit into a nice little box where I wouldn’t be too much of anything.
And you let me be all that I am. With you, I’m exactly enough.
Don’t you see? There’s nothing better in this world than being with someone who loves me for who I am and encourages me to be my whole self.
Jude McKenna, you’re the love of my life, and I will cherish you every single moment of our lives together. ”
“Well.” Ava blinked back tears. “We need to move on to the rings before I’m a sobbing mess.”
Jude’s dad nudged Cody, who got up and delivered a velvet pillow with two rings embedded in the folds. Jude smiled when he saw the band he’d bought for her a year and a half ago. “You found it, huh?” He’d hidden it in the back of her closet, in an old pair of moose slippers.
“Don’t tell me you just learned something new about me,” Finlay said.
“She’s a snoop,” Willa called. “Can’t keep anything from her.”
As everyone laughed, he plucked it out of its nest.
“As you place this ring on her finger, please repeat after me,” Ava said. “With this ring, I pledge an eternity of love, faithfulness, and honor.”
Jude slid the band onto her left finger. “With this ring, I pledge an eternity of love, faithfulness, and honor.”
When it was Finlay’s turn, her hands shook. “With this ring, I pledge an eternity of love, faithfulness, and honor.”
He wanted to scoop her into his arms and run back to the house. He wanted to love her all night long. “What about a honeymoon?” He pulled her up close, whispering into her ear. “I want you all to myself.”
Finlay sighed. “I want that, too, but that’s something we’ll plan together.” She grinned. “But we do get to spend the night at the Sweetwater Inn and Resort.” She glanced at the owner and gave her a smile of gratitude.
“We’ve also got a place in Iceland, if you want,” the owner’s husband and retired movie star, Trevor Montgomery, called out.
“We can hash out the details later,” Ava said. “Let them get to that kiss. By the power vested in me by the State of Wyoming, I now pronounce you husband and wife.”
Jude hooked an arm around Fee’s back and hauled her up against him. Tilting his head, he kissed her with love, awe, and utter gratitude that he got to be with this woman for the rest of his life.
But something changed, love sparked into lust, the kiss turned hot, and he was helpless against the desire burning in his blood.
When Fee hitched a leg up his thigh, he remembered Cody and his brothers and his dad and half the town were watching, so he tipped her back, her long hair dusting the ground.
While kissing him, she lifted her bouquet into the air and tossed it.
They were laughing now, giddy, so he barely heard Willa say, “Oh, hell no. Here, you take it.”
“Not me,” Eloise said. “Here.”
“Oh no,” Molly said. “Thank you, but—"
“Guys, it’s flowers,” someone said. “Not a hot potato.”
Everyone laughed.
“Thank you for marrying me,” he whispered against the sexy mouth that drove him wild.
“Oh, please. I’ve been trying to put a ring on it since I was fifteen years old.”
“And look at us now,” he said. “Living our happily ever after.” He straightened, waving their son over, and the three of them made a Cody sandwich. “I love you both more than anything. You’re my whole world.”
The boy sighed and rested his head on Jude’s shoulder. “I love you, Dad.”
The beautiful moment was interrupted when a woman called out, “Excuse me? I’m looking for Decker McKenna?” She looked left, then right. “I’m sorry to interrupt, but this is really important.”
Everyone quieted down because the stranger was holding a little girl’s hand.
