Chapter 31
CHAPTER 31
Morgan
I sat in the ER room with Roman when his brothers ran in.
“Bro, what the fuck.” Julian and Parker ran over to his bed.
“I’m fine,” Roman said.
“He has a concussion. They’re going to keep him overnight for observation,” I told them.
“Our moms are on their way,” Julian said.
“And I called Dad. He’s on his way too,” Parker spoke.
“Great.” Roman sighed. “The four of them in the same room together is never good. You two know that.”
Dr. Grayson Kind walked in. “Roman, your room is ready. They’ll take you up now.”
“Do I really have to stay the night?”
“Yeah. I’m afraid you do. You have a concussion, and you’re pretty bruised up. It’s just a precaution.”
After Roman was situated in his room and his brothers and parents left, I held his hand .
“You look exhausted. Go home and get some sleep,” Roman said.
“I’m not going anywhere. I’m staying with you.” I brought my other hand and placed it on his cheek. “By the way. I’m accepting your job offer.” I smiled.
“Good, but you didn’t have a choice anyway.”
“What do you mean?” I lightly laughed.
“There was no way I was letting you leave Los Angeles.”
“Is that so?” The corners of my mouth curved upward.
“Yes. Even if I had to tie you to the bed and keep you as my prisoner.”
“You still can.” I grinned.
“Now is not the time to be talking like that.” He tried to chuckle, but it hurt. “I love you, Morgan Ashley.”
“I love you too, Roman Hamilton.” I leaned over and brushed my lips against his.
The following day, he was discharged, and Ollie drove us home, but not before stopping at the Marriott so I could check out and collect my things. There was a knock at the door. Opening it, Simon stood there.
“Hey, Simon. Come on in.”
“Thanks. Roman, how are you, my man?”
“Sore, but I’m okay.”
“I wanted to let you know, Morgan, that Agent Weathers is going away for life. We got the ballistics report back, and the bullets that killed your father matched his gun. Also, he threw his ex-partner under the bus.”
“Tony?” My brows furrowed.
“Yep. You’ll be happy to know he is personally being escorted back to Los Angeles. Had you stuck around his security firm a little longer, you probably would have discovered he was still working with Agent Weathers.”
“Sex trafficking?” I asked .
“Yep. He’ll be sitting in a cell next to Agent Weathers.”
“Thank you, Simon.”
“You’re welcome. Feel better, Roman. Oh, by the way. We’re having a party next weekend. You two better be there.” He pointed at us before leaving the house.
I turned and looked at Roman, sitting on the couch. I was nervous about telling him about the baby, but I had no choice. I loved him, and I wasn’t going anywhere. I walked over and extended my hand.
“Let’s go upstairs.” I smiled.
“Morgan, as much as I would love to fuc?—”
“I wasn’t talking about sex, Roman. You need to rest, and I’m going to wait on you hand and foot.”
The corners of his mouth curved upward as he placed his hand in mine. He carefully changed into a pair of pajama bottoms and slipped on a new t-shirt.
“Go on.” I smiled. “Get in bed. You’re not to move the entire day. Anything you need, I’ll get for you.”
“I love you.” He smiled.
“And I love you. We need to talk.” I sighed, climbing on the bed next to him.
“What’s wrong?”
“You wouldn’t be having to rest if it weren’t for me. You, Simon, and Uncle Louie warned me about Agent Weathers, and I still pursued him. I was so blinded with rage about my father that it almost cost you your life.”
“Stop it. It’s not your fault.”
“Roman, they hit you in the back of the head, knocked you out, dragged you from the firm’s parking garage, and tied you up. It is one hundred percent my fault.”
“And you handled the situation well. If you hadn’t put that tracker on my phone, you never would have found me. Which, by the way?— ”
I placed two fingers over his lips.
“I did it because I love you. That’s all you need to know.” I smiled. “We’re a couple now, right?”
“I consider us a couple. Don’t you?” he asked.
“I do. I just want to hear you say it.”
“Morgan Ashley, you are the most beautiful girlfriend in the world. And you’re all mine.”
“Will you still love me no matter what?”
His brow arched. “What did you do?”
My heart was beating faster than the speed of light. “I’m pregnant, Roman.”
“You’re what?” His eyes widened. “How long have you known?” His voice was angered.
“Two weeks.” I looked down. “Please don’t be mad. It isn’t my fault. It’s the birth control’s fault.”
“I hate to break the news to you, sweetheart, but it’s the user’s fault.”
“Normally, I would agree with you, but Georgia?—”
“Georgia Kind? You’re seeing her?”
“Yeah. And I had an appointment with Charlotte. You told me if I ever needed medical services to go to the Kind Medical Center, so I did. Anyway, Georgia said that I most likely have a genetic thing or whatever that breaks down the hormones in the birth control pills. I never knew such a thing existed, and I never knew because you’re the only man I’ve ever had condomless sex with. So, technically, it’s your fault. You didn’t want to use a condom.”
“Because you said you were on the pill!”
“But even without this genetic thing, the pill isn’t one hundred percent guaranteed. I have another confession to make.”
“I’m listening.”
“After you kicked me out of the house, I was going to get Weathers and then go back to New York. The possibility of an abortion was at the forefront of my mind the entire time. But when I was standing in that building, and Weathers had that gun pointed at me, my maternal instincts kicked in something fierce. I had to protect our baby.”
“Why didn’t you tell me when you found out?”
“Because you hate kids, and I was scared.”
“I don’t hate kids. It’s Julian who doesn’t like them.”
“But you said they’re okay as long as they’re not yours. So, basically, you hate kids.”
“God, baby. Come here.” He held out his arms.
I carefully snuggled against him.
“Give me a second. I’m still in shock,” he said.
“Take all the time you need. No pressure.”
He chuckled.
“I don’t know the first thing about kids,” he finally spoke.
“I don’t either. But I’m not worried because I already love him or her.”
“Look at me.”
I lifted my head and looked at him. He brought his hand up to my cheek and softly stroked it.
“I’m going to be a dad.” He smiled.
“Yeah, you are. How does that make you feel?”
“A little nervous. I don’t want to fuck the kid up.”
“Well, it’s too late for that. Between the both of us, the kid doesn’t stand a chance. Please do me a favor and don’t go out and get two other women pregnant.” A smirk crossed my lips.
A sexy laugh escaped him. “You mean I can’t go out and find a woman named Love?”
“I will kill you.” I smiled.
“I would never. You’re the only woman I need and want. We better prepare ourselves because our lives will change drastically,” he said. “The moms are going to be so excited.”
“The moms?” I furrowed my brows.
“That’s what we call them when referring to all three.” He smirked.
“As weird as your family situation is, I think it’s great. Three moms are better than one.”
