Chapter 31

I openmy eyes to find Damon, Callie, Wren, and Levi standing at the foot of the bed. Kai’s lying half on top of me with his face buried into the crook of my neck, my hand in his hair, his leg hooked over mine. Callie looks down at Kai and rolls her eyes with a smile, pulling fifty dollars out of the pocket of her sweats to slap it into Wren’s open hand. Still half asleep, I squint at them. “What was that?”

“I bet Wren you’d find your way into Kai’s bed last night,” Callie explains, crawling up onto the mattress to lie down beside me. “He bet me Kai would find his way into yours instead.”

“You should give that back to her, brother,” Kai says to Wren, his voice muffled by my collar bone. “I didn’t cave. She dragged me in here against my will.”

I smack him upside the head, and he chuckles, moving fully on top of me to kiss me. “Hi, beautiful,” he whispers.

“Get off.”

“Right here in front of them?” he teases, reaching down beneath the blanket to pull his dick out, teasing my pussy through my shorts with the tip.

“You wouldn’t.”

“Watch me.”

I smack him again and manage to get out from underneath him, reaching over Callie’s body to grab my phone from the nightstand. I don’t have time for a run after snoozing my alarm, but I’ll still be able to open the shop on time if I get up now.

Swinging my leg over Callie, I climb out of bed, place my duffel on top of it, and search my bag for some clothes to wear. Pulling out a pair of jeans, I side-eye Damon and Wren when I feel their eyes on me. Following their line of sight, I look down the length of my body.

I huff. “What?”

Callie cranes her neck to look at my ass in the cotton shorts I’m wearing and bumps Kai’s fist. I glare, snatching a hoodie to cover myself with it.

“You’re an asshole.”

“What did I do?” Kai asks, feigning a pout.

“I was talking to Callie.”

She laughs at that, digging into the pocket of her sweats before she starts rolling a joint.

“Wren,” Levi growls, thumping the back of his head. “Stop fucking looking.”

“I’m not.”

Clenching his jaw, Levi grabs a fistful of Wren’s hair and pulls his head back on his shoulder. Wren smirks and looks down at his twin, having one of their silent conversations before Kai smiles and slides his tongue between his teeth. Red faced, I throw a pillow at his head and gesture to the door, huffing again when none of them move to leave.

“Why are you all awake so early?” I ask, annoyed.

“You start work at six-thirty, don’t you?” Levi asks, dropping down on the chair in the sitting area and pulling Wren down to straddle his lap.

“Yes…”

“We’re going with you.”

“All of you?”

He nods, not looking at me as he runs his hands over Wren’s outer thighs.

Tongue in cheek, I turn and connect eyes with the big brother, crossing my arms over my chest in defiance. “You don”t trust me?”

A small smirk touches his lips as he leans back against the wall, neither confirming or denying it.

“Damn it, Damon. I don’t need a babysitter.”

Another smirk. “Tough. You’ve got five.”

I closemy locker and turn around, jumping when I bump right into Kai’s chest.

“Jesus. Why am I always walking into you?”

“Fate?”

“Bad luck,” I mutter, struggling not to smile like a fool when he lifts my chin up with his finger.

He narrows his eyes. “You’re avoiding me.”

“I’m not.”

“You are. You’ve barely looked at me twice since we left the penthouse this morning.”

“I’ve looked at you,” I argue, immediately regretting it when I see the grin he’s failing to hide.

Grabbing my waist, he pushes me back against my locker, pressing his body into mine. He kisses me softly, coaxing my lips apart with barely any effort at all. I slide my fingers through his hair, pleased with myself when it makes him groan into my mouth.

“Baby, tell me what’s wrong.”

Refusing to tell him I’m worried I’m gonna get my traitorous little heart broken when all is said and done between us, I say nothing.

I don’t know how or when it happened, and I hate myself for being that girl, but there you have it. I’m that girl. The stupid one falling for the fuck boy.

“Everyone’s looking at us,” I say, mostly to change the subject, but also because it’s true.

“Let them look.” He squeezes my waist in a tight grip. “I want them to know you’re my girl.”

His girl.

My heart kicks around in my chest, and I push his face away from mine, relieved when I see Callie and the boys walking toward us.

Callie knows. I don’t know how she knows, just that she does.

She raises a brow at me, and I give her a look that says, I’ll fight you if you don’t keep your mouth shut. It makes her laugh at me with her eyes.

“Did she text you back yet?” Wren asks.

Kai takes Derek’s phone out of his pocket, checks it, and shakes his head. “No.”

“Why are you texting her?” I ask, still leaning back against the lockers with Kai pressed against me.

“I’m trying to get her to show up at the beach party we’re throwing tomorrow night.”

“What happens if she shows up?”

“I haven’t decided yet,” Kai answers, lowering his mouth back to mine. “What do you want me to do to her if she’s the one who told Maverick where you live?”

I tilt my head. “You’ll do anything I want?”

“Anything,” he rasps. “Name it.”

I smile sweetly, leaning up to whisper, “If she’s the one, you can bring her to me.”
