TANK

Chance leaned back in his chair. His hands laid against his stomach, a power pose if I’d ever seen one. He was making it clear he wasn’t all that interested in what I had to say.

“We’ve been over this before, Mr. Tank.”

I always had to fight back a smile when he called me that. Most people didn’t know my last name. The ones who did never used it.

In this case, it was even more hilarious because he never called me either. We had very different names for one another.

His advisor, Emmett, decided to speak up, drawing me from the delicious thoughts. “Chance has a busy schedule with the election coming to a head. Polls are working in his favor; however, we need to focus on the matter the people want to see changed. I can’t agree that this is urgent.”

Scowling at him, I replied, “You think lowering the crime rate isn’t important? I thought that was one of the major pillars his campaign stood on.”

“Well, it is…”

“Then I’d think working with officers to weed out the corrupt and build a taskforce meant to protect this city would be vital. We want to be as big as San Francisco and New York, right? That’s part of the line you’re throwing around in these ads and speeches. Can’t do that with astronomical levels of crime.”

Chance eased forward; his easy smile gone. “Astronomical might be a stretch.”

“Not if you knew the full extent,” I bit out.

Frustration and I were close friends. This Gilded Ones case had overrun my life. I couldn’t move around like I normally did. My team needed me around as much as possible.

In the past, I’d have found someone for a single night. Maybe at Club Deny or through a dating app. Anything to let off some steam when the stress became too much.

It had been years since that though. Ever since meeting him, I could only scratch that itch with one person.

And fuck me, if it wasn’t the most difficult choice I’d ever made.

I couldn’t have dated a normal man or anything. Had to fucking crave the cock of a major political player in the city.

He lived in the spotlight.

I lived in the darkness.

“Maybe we should move to the next topic,” Emmett suggested.

“Leave.”

The command wasn’t meant for me. We both knew it.

Without saying another word, the young man stood and fled the office. The second the door closed behind him, the facade Chance wore dropped away. He shifted his chair back until he was away from the desk.

“Come.”

Another demand. This time, I was the only person it could be meant for.

Walking around the desk, I settled against it. We faced each other, a standoff we’d had more than once.

The sound of his belt opening would have normally drawn my attention. I was too annoyed to take the bait.

Our eyes remained locked in battle as he drew down his zipper and pulled his cock free. His lashes fluttered the slightest degree when he began to stroke himself.

Fuck.

I really wanted to watch. I needed to.

It had been too long since we’d had a moment of peace. This fucking election was destroying everything we’d built.

“Get down here and say you’re sorry, pet.”

A shiver worked through me at the name. While I wasn’t a naturally submissive man, I would play the part when he needed to throw his power around.

He’d done the same for me on numerous occasions.

“You didn’t even lock the door. What if someone comes in? It could ruin your campaign to have a scandal like this.”

We both knew the score here. Still, it never stopped us.

“Get. On. Your. Knees. Pet. I will not fucking repeat myself for a third time.”

I weighed my options for another second before accepting this was what we both craved. Denying it was foolish.

Easing down to the floor in front of him, I finally looked away to stare at his hand wrapped around his far too impressive dick. My mouth watered. It knew what came next.

“Now, open. Show me how sorry you are.”

I stuck my tongue out, dropping my jaw to give him room. The second he slid between my lips, all my anger vanished.

No matter what else went on in life, I had this.

At least for now.

With the election so close, I wondered just how much would change.
