Chapter 2

“Yes, daddy, just like that.”

I smacked the fat ass that bounced against my dick. “What I tell you about that shit?” Another hard smack on her ass.

She knew I hated when she called me that but continued to do the shit anyway.

“Sorry. Shit. You feel so good.”

I pumped harder into her to hurry this session along because I knew what was coming next.

A few pumps later, just as I expected, she did the other shit I didn’t like.

“Stop all that fucking screaming.” I smacked her ass again.

I pushed her head down onto the bed. Maybe she’d scream into the sheets or something because if she didn’t stop, my dick would go soft.

She got the hint this time and only moaned a little. It didn’t take much longer for me to cum, because I was over this shit. She’d already gotten hers a couple of times, so I didn’t care whether or not she was done.

I pulled out of her and walked to the bathroom to dispose of the condom and wash up.

I was a gentleman sometimes, so I wet a washcloth and took it to her.

“Here you go.”

“Thanks.” She took the washcloth from my hand and proceeded to clean herself up, while I put my boxers on.

When I was done, I lit a blunt and sat on the side of the bed.

“What are you about to get into?” I asked over my shoulder.

Everybody knew that was universal for you have to go.

“I was hoping I could chill here for a little bit. I don’t have any plans. You got something you need to do?”

“Nah, not really. You wanna hit this?”

I turned toward her, holding the blunt out, and she took it.

Shannon and I graduated from the same culinary school, but we didn’t take things further until a year ago. We’d see each other around town and shit like that, but one night, she was in the bar crying her eyes out over some dude, so we shared a few drinks, and by the end of the night, I took her down in the alleyway by the bar. It wasn’t ideal, but the liquor in my system told me otherwise. It wasn’t me that initiated it either. I was just trying to walk her to her car when she pushed me against the wall and got on her knees, and I let her. I had a hard time cumming from head, but I was at the point of no return. Luckily, I always had a condom on me because there was no way I was running up in her naked. I didn’t know her that well, and I didn’t make a habit of unprotected sex. I wasn’t trying to catch shit or have any unwanted kids.

I took a few pulls of the blunt when Shannon passed it back.

“It’s been a year, Osiris. What are we doing?”

I choked on the smoke. “What do you mean? We’re kicking it.”

“That’s all this is to you? I thought we would have solidified things by now.”

A few months ago, I might have given her what she wanted, but something in my gut was telling me not to. I couldn’t figure out what it was though. I liked her, and we had good chemistry, but lately, I’d been feeling like something was missing, and I didn’t think I would find it with her.

I was twenty-six and ready to settle down, but I didn’t see that being with Shannon. I didn’t think we had the same family values. I wanted kids, but she said she wasn’t ready for them. She wanted to stay in Paris forever, but that wasn’t in my plans. My family was in the States, and I was missing out on seeing my nephews growing up since I was so far away.

After graduation, I decided to stay in Paris for a bit because I enjoyed it, but I knew it wasn’t my forever home. That was why I settled on a one-bedroom apartment that I rented for a year at a time. I wasn’t sure when I would go back home for good, but I knew at some point, I would.

I pulled on the blunt again before turning to face Shannon. I passed it to her and watched as she inhaled. She was pretty as hell with full lips that I loved to see wrapped around my dick. Light brown eyes, and caramel skin. She was thick, too, just like I liked them, but she wasn’t my one. Besides us wanting different things in life, there was still something I couldn’t quite put my finger on that wouldn’t allow me to go further with her. Sometimes, she seemed a little off.

“I ain’t gonna hold you. I fucks with you heavy, but that’s it. I’m not trying to downplay what we have, but I know shit with us ain’t going to work out.”

She pulled the sheet over her naked body. “How do you know that, though?”

“Do you want children?”

She looked away for a second, then back at me. “I’m open to it.”

That was a lie, and we both knew that.

“When did that change?”

She dropped her head and played with the sheet. I already knew she was about to lie again because she could never look me in the eyes when she lied.

“The last month or so.”

“So let’s have a baby now then.” I wasn’t for real, but I just wanted to see what she would say.

“Um…”

I knew she wasn’t going to agree to that, and I was glad she didn’t call my bluff, because I couldn’t see myself having a kid with her.

“I’m just fucking with you. I wanted to see what you were going to say.”

I witnessed the moment she let out a relieved breath.

“I’m not opposed to it anymore, though.”

“Okay, Shannon. On some real shit, I’m having fun with you, and I don’t want to fuck up what we have by putting labels on it.”

That was the easiest way to let her down without hurting her feelings because that wasn’t what I was trying to do. I really did like her.

“Okay, Osiris. I guess I have to be okay with being your fuck buddy until you get tired of me.”

The sadness in her eyes made me feel bad, but not enough to make things more than what they were.

“Don’t sell yourself short for me.”

“I’m not. I’m good. I’ll enjoy it while I can, but if someone wants what I want, then I’ll go. It’s going to be your loss, not mine.” She shrugged.

I moved closer to her and tapped her chin. “There’s nothing wrong with that, as long as he makes you happy. No lie, I would miss you, but you are a good woman who deserves happiness, and I won’t stop you.” I kissed her forehead. “In the meantime, though.” I smirked. “You think you can handle another round?”

She smiled and lay back. “I can.”

I grabbed a condom from the drawer, sheathed myself, and got to work.

I wasn’t sure how much time passed, but Shannon and I had fallen asleep after we went another round. My phone ringing woke me up.

I almost let it go to voicemail until I saw my mother’s face flash on the screen.

“Hello.”

“Hey, Son. Why do you sound like you just woke up?”

“Because I took a nap. I didn’t have anything to do but chill all day.”

My mother sometimes forgot about the time difference. For her, it was almost noon, but for me, it was almost seven at night.

“Did you have dinner yet?”

I smiled because she asked the same question whenever we talked, as if she could fix me something to eat if I didn’t.

“No, ma’am. I’m getting ready to make something in a few minutes though.” I glanced over at Shannon, and she was still asleep.

Not wanting to wake her up, I got out of bed and headed to the kitchen. Since she was here, and would most likely stay the night, I would make enough for her as well.

“Well…” I knew she was about to say some bull because of the way she dragged the word.

“What is it?” I asked as I got the ribs from the fridge that I prepared earlier. If Shannon was up, she would help me cook because food was our love language and the way we bonded.

“Your sister had a situation with Jasper, and she was supposed to do a restaurant review next week, but she won’t be able to. Do you think you can come home to do it? Plus, I haven’t seen you in God knows how long, and I want to lay eyes on you. I’ll even pay for your ticket.”

I didn’t know why she insulted me like I didn’t have my own money. I didn’t have anything important on my agenda that I couldn’t do before I left, and it had been a while since I saw my family. I wasn’t sure why she couldn’t do it since she was a food critic as well. Hell, pretty much everyone in the whole family was either a critic or a chef. I didn’t ask her, though, because I knew it was her way of getting me to come home since I hadn’t been in two years. We’d only been seeing each other on FaceTime. I wanted to lay eyes on my nephews anyway.

“I got you, woman.” I chuckled. “Don’t worry about my ticket though. I have a few things I need to take care of here, but I’ll be there sometime next week. Is there a specific day I need to be there?”

“No. As long as it’s next week, any day will be fine.”

“Bet. I’m going to make dinner and book my flight. I’ll text you with the info so someone can pick me up from the airport.”

I didn’t feel the need to rent a car since I kept one at my folks’ house. My dad drove it every once in a while, so it didn’t sit idle all of this time.

“Okay. I can’t wait to see you.”

“Me either. Let me go. Be on the lookout for my text.”

We said our goodbyes and hung up.

I wiped a hand down my face because I wasn’t sure how Shannon would take the news, but my mother needed me, so I had to go. Good thing it was kind of last minute, so she wouldn’t have time to take off work. I didn’t want my first trip back home to be with her, and she or my family to get the wrong impression.

While I waited for the food to cook, I booked my flight. I wasn’t sure why, but something in my gut told me this trip was going to be different.
