Jack’s Office

Stanley

T his whole fucking day has been hell.

All I can think about is Stefan’s slight body straddling me last night, jerking my cock in his soft hands. His movements were so timid at first like he was scared of what we were doing, but then the bashful omega really got into it. Twisting his hands with each wonderful stroke.

I’ve never come so hard from a hand job before.

And it was obvious Stefan liked it too.

I think it’s time to show the omega what his body can do. I know it’s only been a few days, but I’ve waited longer than most alphas would have. I should probably wait a little longer, but I can’t. Yuki is right about one thing: I like how powerful he makes me feel.

And I’m finding that I enjoy him even more than I thought I would.

Even with yesterday’s asthma incident, Stefan has been very low maintenance so far. He does as he’s told, doesn’t speak out of turn, and he feeds into something primal deep inside me. Something I didn't know I needed.

“I got confirmation.” Yuki walks into my office, moving past the matching leather couches. She pauses right in front of my desk and whispers in a throaty purr, “The bay area is ours.” She smiles and her dark eyes flash with excitement.

Victory beats in my chest as I push out of my chair. “Bring that sexy ass over here,” I growl.

Yuki bites her bottom lip, sauntering around the large oak desk. Her hips sway, and she licks her pouty mouth. “We need to tell Bear.” She rests her palms on my chest. “The three of us should celebrate later.”

I hum at the thought, eager to lie with my two alphas, but, sadly, we can’t. “Bear’s not allowed to come.” I smile when Yuki’s mouth falls open. “He’s in complete orgasm denial.”

The she-alpha’s expression shifts from one of shock to deep lust. Her eyes fall half-hooded, and her breath quickens. My girl has always had a bit of a humiliation kink. “You should cage his dick,” she says, practically panting.

A deep chuckle pushes from my chest. “I’m glad to see you’re in a better mood.” I grab her ass, squeezing with both of my hands.

“I’m just happy there weren’t any omega emergencies today,” she tries to bait me into an argument, but I’m in too good of a mood.

“Keep it up, and Bear’s cock won’t be the only thing caged,” I cut back at the she-alpha, and she instantly purrs.

“Sir?” Jessica knocks on my open office door, and I release Yuki. “Mr. Romner is here to see you.”

“ Adam Romner ?” I ask, and Jessica nods. I can’t help the look of surprise on my face. Romner hasn’t left the city in probably a decade. The fucker loves fine dining and valet parking too much to venture more than a few minutes outside the city. I can’t stand the asshole—he’s more obsessed with his image than his business—but my curiosity is piqued. “What’s he want?”

The beta shakes her head, opening her mouth as if she doesn’t know what to say.

“Where did you put him?” I pray she at least thought to take him to one of the conference rooms.

Deep worry fills Jessica’s eyes, and she ducks her head. “He’s in the entryway, sir.” I can practically smell the fear radiating off her. “I didn’t know what the protocol was.”

I want to groan loudly, but none of this is her fault. I’m the one who reassigned Lucy without giving her a chance to train the maid. “It’s okay,” I assure Jessica.

“Should I escort him back here?” she asks with a confused grimace.

“No,” I try not to sound annoyed. I never take meetings with outsiders in my office, but there’s no way for Jessica to know that. “I’ll meet him up front.”

Jessica nods, then slowly wanders off. The poor woman has looked lost all damn day.

“So…” Yuki says the second the beta disappears, “how are things working out with Jessica?” The she-alpha looks way too happy with my predicament. I’m going to have to spank her ass raw later to remind her of her place.

“I’m not sure Jessica is going to work out.” I let out a pained sigh. “She’s very efficient when it comes to my laundry and making the bed, but I fear office work isn’t for her.” I shake my head, trying to think of a solution to my staffing issue. “I need Lucy back.”

Yuki’s reaction is ever so slight. She tenses, and the muscles in her neck pull tight, but then she smiles, forcing herself to relax. “I’m sure Lucy would love a break from babysitting duty.” She moves around my desk, making her way to the door. “Just don’t throw it at Stefan last minute. Give the boy a warning.” She glances back at me over her shoulder. “Omegas aren’t known for taking surprises well.”

I glare at Yuki, not pleased with her continued criticism of the omega. Her honest opinion normally doesn’t bother me, but Stefan is different. She’s being unfair to him. He’s so calm and pleasing to be around. I would even say I find his presence comforting.

“Come on.” I grab my suit jacket off the back of my chair, then march across the room, breezing past Yuki. “Let’s see what Romner wants.”

We find the alpha right where Jessica said he’d be, along with his second-in-command, Dak. Dak is big and blond. He has three teeth in his whole head and an IQ to match. Romner, on the other hand, has a dark complexion with a shiny bald head and head-to-toe designer clothes. While he’s not exactly a brilliant mind, he can at least string together a full sentence.

“Stanley!” Romner shouts my name as I approach. He looks old as shit. It’s admittedly been a few years since I’ve seen him, but the alpha has not aged well. Deep lines etch into his forehead and around his mouth, and his eyes look tired.

“Romner.” I size him up as I button my suit jacket. The alpha is in head-to-toe black-and-white houndstooth. Jacket, slacks, and even his shoes. Only his white shirt gives my eyes a break from the chaotic pattern. He’s always had the most outlandish taste in clothes.

“Park Avenue is a little further west of here,” I say with a friendly tone as I shake the alpha’s hand. “Did you get lost?”

“I was craving some fresh air.” Romner gives me his bullshit excuse. “I was in the neighborhood and thought I’d see how my old friend was doing.” He smiles, pushing his hands into his pockets.

I tense at the motion, wondering if he might have a weapon on him. I’m not worried about the lanky alpha being able to best me in a fight, but the last thing I want is for him to scare the staff. There’s a time and place for violence, and that doesn’t include my entryway.

“I wasn’t aware we were friends,” I say, eyeing Dak. The big fucker stares right through me almost as if he’s bored.

“Powerful men like us are always friends until we aren’t,” Romner says like we’re a part of some kind of elite club.

“I don’t want to be rude,” I don’t really give a shit how rude I sound, “but I’m very busy today. Can we make this quick?”

Romner gives me a tense smile as his gaze shifts around the room. He eyes the grandfather clock, the twisting staircase, and the long hallway at my back. “You know,” he says, “I’ve been cooped up in a damn car all day. I’d love a smoke.” Romner doesn’t smoke. I know this for a fact because I know everything about my competition. But whatever he has to say must be very important. So important he needs time to work up the courage.

“Why don’t we step out back?” I angle my body, giving Yuki a quick glance. She immediately knows what I want, pulling out her phone and texting a few of our guys. I want backup ready, just in case. Plus, if I have to kill these two fuckers, it’ll be easier to clean up outside.

I half expect Romner to chat my ears off as we walk through the house, but the alpha doesn’t say a word. He must be nervous. And it makes me want to laugh. There was a time when I looked up to Romner. Back when I was a kid, he was a big name in our business, and I really looked up to him. But now I’m the biggest supplier in the West, and soon I’ll own the North too. It’s only a matter of time until I own every drug deal in this fucking country.

“You need to get a gardener out here,” Romner says, scanning the overgrown yard.

I shrug, not really caring how it looks. “I’ll be sure to have someone out before my next garden party.” I pull my silver cigarette case out of my pocket and squeeze the latch, popping it open. “What do you want, Adam?” I place a smoke between my lips and fish a lighter out of my pocket.

Yuki stares at the flame. She hates that I smoke. So does Bear. But we all have our vices.

“We’ve known each other for a long time, Stan,” Romner speaks softly, almost as if he’s worried someone will overhear. But until my men arrive, it’s just me, Yuki, and his blob of a packmate. “One pack alpha to another. Are the rumors true?”

I light my cigarette, pulling in that first glorious drag. It burns the back of my throat, quickens my blood, and eases the tension in my shoulders. “I don’t entertain rumors.” I exhale, pushing a puff of smoke into the air. “They’re rarely true and only half as interesting as the truth.”

“A lot of people are saying some interesting things about you and your pack,” Dak says, and my brows shoot up.

“I really don’t give a shit,” I say to the blond alpha, taking another drag.

He frowns at my tone, then growls, “You should.”

“Look.” Romner cuts a wary look one way, then the other. “I heard you took down a big buyer up north this morning. Apparently, your men took the entire bay area and killed the whole Henley pack in the process. They say you really showed the size of your balls.”

“I do love stories that mention my balls.” I suck in a long puff of my smoke. There’s nothing more satisfying than an enemy trying to stroke your ego. “But only a fool would brag about doing something that would encourage revenge.”

“They say you’re looking to take over the entire region.” Romner narrows his dark eyes, judging my every movement.

I continue to suck on my smoke, enjoying the tension in the air.

“You need to be careful, Stanley,” Romner says. “Those of us with large territories won’t be scared off or taken over. And if you keep making these risky choices, you’ll end up with too many enemies to fight off. You’re going to end up in an early grave. I spoke with Andrew Lappen only a few hours ago, and he had some choice words about you and your pack.”

“Is this why you’re here?” I ask, smirking. “To beg me to spare your territory?”

“I’m here to seek out an alliance.” His voice rises with anger, and Dak’s pecs flex under his tight shirt.

Yuki moves a little closer to me, her fists curled as she stares daggers at the pair.

Romner cuts an angry glare at the she-alpha. “I think our two packs can help one another.”

I tip my head back, laughing with my whole chest. “Help one another?” I smile at the fucker, letting him see just how stupid I think his proposal is. “I don’t need your help.”

Dak rocks on his feet, looking like he wants to jump me. I hope the asshole does. It’ll give Yuki a reason to beat the shit out of him. The she-alpha might be smaller than most males, but she’s fast and strong. Very strong.

“I don’t need an alliance with you,” I say bluntly. “My territory is twice the size, and I have ten times the men. Men who are well paid and very loyal.”

The vein in Romner’s neck pulses, and his face flushes with rage. “You’ve got an awful lot of attitude for someone who was once worth nothing,” he growls, his tone filled with warning. But this barking dog doesn’t scare me. “You can easily be put right back on those streets.” He looks me up and down, acting as if he’s made some kind of valid point.

“I don't fear being on those streets,” I cut back. “I grew up there. Thrived there. But you, my old friend ,” I mock his use of the term, “your soft underbelly would crumble within seconds.” I push a deep chuckle from my chest before adding, "There's no valet in the gutter.”

“Listen here,” Romner snaps, flashing his obscenely white fangs. “You are nothing but a?—”

“I’m going to stop you right there,” I cut him off, and to my surprise, he actually shuts up. Maybe it’s the men who are watching us from the edge of the yard or the two who now stand right inside the back door. The idiot is outnumbered, and he knows it. “Do you remember when we first met?”

Romner’s upper lip twitches with rage or disgust. I can’t really tell. But who gives a shit?

“I was young,” I continue, savoring his violent glare. “Sixteen years old and eager for a mentor. Someone I could devote myself to.” I take a long drag off my cigarette. “Do you remember what you told me?”

“Stanley,” Romner growls my name. Dak rocks on the balls of his feet next to his pack alpha, clearly eager to throw a punch. “I’m only here to?—”

“You told me you had no room in your pack for street trash like me.” My voice rises as my calm demeanor begins to fall away.

Romner goes quiet, not bothering to defend himself. Fucker .

“So forgive me if I don’t fall over myself to align with you and your pack,” I snap.

Romner closes his eyes, inhaling deeply. When he opens his eyes again, they flash like there’s a bomb inside him, just waiting to go off. “Enjoy your little victory while you can, Stan,” he snarls as his scent grows thick and sharp. “Because, one day, someone will find your weaknesses. And they’ll rip you open and turn you out, destroying everything you love.”

I keep my expression completely blank. “Are we done?”

Romner opens his mouth, but before he can say another word, the softest giggle hits my ears. Yuki tenses next to me as Lucy’s laugh grows louder. Then she and Stefan walk beside to the house and next to the porch, followed closely by Bear.

“That poor gerbil!” Stefan laughs. The sound is so bright and relaxed. “How did you—“ He freezes the second he sees Romner and Dak.

“Holy shit.” Romner smiles wide, his whole demeanor shifting from rage to intense excitement.

Bear’s big body goes tight, mimicking Yuki’s hard expression. But Lucy keeps smiling. She’s used to seeing alphas come and go in our house, so the sight of these two men doesn’t seem like anything out of the ordinary.

“My apologies, sir,” Lucy says sweetly as she reaches for Stefan’s hand. “We didn’t mean to interrupt your meeting.”

The wind shifts, and Stefan angles his body as if ready to run. I’m sure he can smell the heightened emotions hanging in the air. “Lucy.” He squeezes her hand, tugging her a little closer. The beta looks confused for a second, but then she notices the tense look on Yuki’s face, and her smile falls.

“You really fucking did it.” Romner turns to me. I want to slap the smug look right off his face. “I heard your pack had claimed an omega, but I didn’t believe it.”

Bear moves around Stefan and Lucy, standing like a mighty shield between the pair and our “guests.”

“It’s time for you and your lapdog to go,” Yuki says to Romner, and I couldn’t agree more.

“Fuck off, you knotless bitch,” Dak barks, taking a step toward Yuki. She doesn’t move a muscle, looking at the fucker like she’d love nothing more than for him to take a swing.

“If you’re looking for a fight,” Yuki growls softly, “I’ll fucking give you one.”

Romner takes half a step toward my omega, and Bear flashes his teeth, blowing up to make himself bigger. I inch a little closer, ready to break Romner in half if he moves even one more inch.

“They say you bid on the boy,” Romner says to Bear. “That you were looking at him like a lovesick pup. That true?”

My packmate doesn’t say a word. He glares at the overdressed asshole, letting the air grow even thicker with unease. That’s how Bear likes to do things. He never speaks to anyone outside of our men. He says he doesn’t want to waste his breath, but I think it’s because it unhinges people.

Romner shakes his head then looks at me. “One day you should really teach him how to speak.”

“Are we done?” I flick my cigarette toward the edge of the porch. I want these two assholes out of here and far away from my omega.

“You know, Stanley,” Romner turns to me, smiling like he’s won something, “it seems you do have something to lose. Once people hear you have a juicy little omega,” his gaze slides to Stefan, “they’re going to come for revenge, and they won’t be coming for you.”

My fist is suddenly flying through the air. Romner doesn’t register it until it’s too late. I hit him square in the face, making his head pop back and blood spurt from his nose. Dak moves the second I connect with his pack alpha, but he doesn’t rush me. Instead, the big blond idiot runs right at Stefan.

It’s as if everything is moving in slow motion.

Bear steadies his feet, ready to tackle the fucker.

Yuki runs after Dak, leaping onto the blond fucker’s back.

But it’s what Stefan does that completely shocks me. He tightens his hold on Lucy’s hand then jerks the beta, hiding her behind his slight body. He’s protecting her from the fight.

Suddenly, Romner is on his feet, and everything is chaos.

My two men burst through the back door, throwing punches at Romner while Yuki and Bear begin beating the shit out of Dak. I take several steps to one side, trying to get to Stefan, but he moves the other way. He shrinks against the house, pulling Lucy toward the back door. It’s dangerous for him to be so close to the fight, but his move is smart. After all, he’d be exposed in the yard with nowhere to go. Inside is the safest place.

Romner lets out a pained growl right as Bear manages to pin Dak to the ground. And just like that, the fight is over.

“What should we do with him?” Darius, one of my men, manhandles Romner, gripping the front of his shirt.

“You want him dead?” Yuki looks at me. Her nose is bleeding, but she lets it drip down her lips and chin. The she-alpha loves the taste of violence .

But it’s the softest gasp that pulls my attention. Stefan stares at me from the other side of the porch, his hand on the doorknob. His big green eyes stare at me with so much intensity. Waiting for me to answer Yuki.

And I know exactly what I have to do. To protect my pack, my business, and my omega. My precious, brave little omega.

“Kill him.”
