Chapter 25

Britain

As I come to consciousness this morning and stretch, I realize I’m smiling. Because I’m happy. Talking with Liam last night helped subdue my anxiety and cemented that I’m making the right decision.

How I feel when I’m with him is undeniable. He’s my safe place, and my home, but he also makes me burn with hunger and want. I roll over, out of instinct, to his side, but find it empty, surprising me. Did I sleep in?

I roll back over to check my phone, and see a note in his horrendous chicken scratch.

I hope you get some more sleep, Bambi. I’ll be downstairs waiting for you when you get up, but I just wanted to let you know I love you, and I’m here to support you today.

Always, Liam

It takes me a moment to realize what he means. Support me, in talking with Matthias. Right. I have to do that today. I flip the phone over to see it’s 7:45 and I have no new messages. After I talked to Matthias on Monday, I thought for sure I’d hear from him between then and now, but it’s been nothing but radio silence. If I’m being honest, I’m glad he hasn’t reached out. It’s been a crazy couple of days, but even though I’ve been here with Liam, I’ve still thought about him.

I finally had my session with Carla yesterday where I dropped everything on her — the good, the bad, the ugly. She walked me through a couple exercises to help calm my mind in hopes the answer would reveal itself to me. But what really did it was when I asked her if she believed in fate.

“Do you believe in fate, Carla?” She shows little to no reaction to my question, at least not one I can perceive through my laptop screen. I fully expect her to say no. Carla seems like the type of person with an “everything in its box, Excel spreadsheet, pro/con list with a statistical chance of success” view of love.

“Yes.” Seriously?

“Wow, um, really? I just mean I took you for someone with a very pragmatic and calculated outlook on love.”

“I’d like to think of it as a more holistic approach. I look at all the factors of love and relationships together, but I understand that how someone makes you feel is one of the most important elements. And sometimes, there’s no explanation for why. In my line of work, I’ve seen it all, Britain. And I see how against all odds, people come together under the most adverse of circumstances. For you, Britain, you need to figure out who it is that brings you happiness and peace.”

I close my eyes and I let the past fade away, and I think about who makes me happy. Who am I able to be completely myself with? Who feels like home? Who feels like safety and warmth and peace? And it’s easy, I see his face. He’s waiting for me downstairs.

My excitement propels me up and out of bed. I quickly throw on a Skims boyfriend tee and boxers and head down to see my family.

I find Jess and Eden in the great room, watching Bluey. “Do you need coffee?” I ask before I walk into the kitchen. She just shakes her head, no, then gives me a smile.

In the kitchen, I find Carly and the girls. “Morning,” I say to them. The girls are sitting at the island stools, perusing their phones while Carly carves up a pineapple.

“Good morning!” “Hi, Mom.” “Morning, Mom!” They all return. Someone’s missing, though. Caroline notices me looking around.

“He’s working out, Mom.” Shit. Obvious much, Britain?

“Okay.” I smile at her, then pour myself a cup of coffee.

“So, this morning I have a frittata, fresh fruit, and blueberry waffles for everyone,” Carly announces.

My mouth salivates. “Did I mention how lucky we are to have you?” I move to stand next to Carly, leaning back against the kitchen counter.

“You did.” She smiles, continuing her precision butchering of the pineapple. “It’ll be on the table in 5 minutes.”

While she keeps working away, I decide to chat her up. “I didn’t know you had a little brother.” Caroline perks up at the mention of James. “Does your whole family live around here, too?”

A slight blush creeps up Carly’s cheeks. “Oh, no. It’s just the two of us, him and me!” I’m a little surprised, but at the same time, if there’s anything I understand, it’s weird family dynamics.

I wait to see if she wants to expand, but she doesn’t. Understood. “Well, it's awesome that you guys have each other. He seems just as amazing as you are. You know, he’s welcome to come over here any time. I’m sure the girls would love hanging out with someone their own age. Or maybe he can show them around, if he’s free.” Caroline is fully invested in my conversation now.

“Next time he’s free, I’ll have him tag along. Thank you.” She smiles at me and I smile back. I ask her if she’s still working for Sandy and Jim, which she replies in the affirmative, and I don’t know how she does it. Working full time for us, doing all the prepared meals for them, caring for her younger sibling full time — she blows me away.

I hear the door to the mudroom open and the butterflies in my stomach activate in his nearby presence. Caroline still hasn’t gone back to looking at her phone and I find her just staring at me, so I try to school my face into not smiling like an idiot, but it’s hard when you’re this happy.

“Hey, girls, I’d love it if we could go for a walk this morning. I can show you my route. It’s got an awesome view of the lake?” I ask Caroline and Elodie.

“Sure, Mom. Sounds fun!” Elodie replies, but Caroline just nods her head, silently.

When Liam finally rounds the corner, toweling off his sweaty face, he says, “Oh, damn. I was hoping to finish before you were up. Sorry, baby.” I smile at him with the knowledge that I’d keep on choosing him, every day.

“It’s okay. Thanks for leaving the note.”

He nods, “Of course,” then makes his way over to give me a kiss on the forehead.

Caroline hasn’t stopped staring at me the entire time, but Elodie with her face still turned down to her phone says, “Eww, gross! Get a room!” I laugh.

Carly finishes plating the last of the pineapple and lets us know it’s time to eat. When I instruct the girls to each take a plate to the table to help, I feel his hand wrap around my arm and pull me gently back to the mudroom.

“I just want to say good morning, properly,” he says before he drops his mouth to mine in a kiss that makes my panties wet. I don’t want him to stop, but he does. I lick my lips when he’s done, tasting his salty sweat.

“Mmm, you taste salty,” I tell him, and his broad smile comes out.

“I love having you back home, baby.” That’s not what I was expecting. I can practically hear my heartbeat in my ears, and feel it in my pelvis when he says this.

I go up on my tiptoes to whisper in his ear, “And I missed having you in bed this morning.”

“Christ, baby,” Liam says, pulling me in tight to him. I can feel his hard length come alive against me.

“The baby needs to eat, babe,” I tell him when he doesn’t immediately let me go.

“Okay,” his voice comes out strained. “I’ll be out there in a minute.” He releases me and motions down to the raging hard on. I just laugh at him, then join the rest of my family for breakfast.

“Can you join us?” I ask Carly before sitting down.

“Yep, will do! Just let me get out the syrup and butter.”

When Jess and Eden make their way over to the eat-in, she eyes the spread, then looks up at me, “Girrllll, don’t fuck this up.” We both laugh.

While I help her get Eden strapped into the high chair, I ask, “I’m taking the girls for a walk after breakfast to talk about everything. Do you want to come? Moral support?”

She looks at me with a smile. “No, I don’t think so. But…I think you and I are overdue for a girl chat this afternoon. During Eden’s nap?”

I nod, we are more than overdue. “So about that…I’m supposed to go get coffee with Matthias sometime today. I was wondering if you’d take me. Just be there, in case things are…” I trail off, looking over to the girls, then say, “weird.”

Liam chimes in, making his way to the space beside me and says, “I’m going to take you.”

“I don’t know if that’s such a good idea based on what happened last time.” I look at the stitches on his fist.

“I don’t want him yelling at you, again,” he says it low, just for me to hear, but that doesn’t matter.

“Matt yelled at you?” Caroline asks, looking a bit stricken. I eye Liam, then turn my attention back to Caroline.

“Unfortunately, yes. He was upset, I don’t think he even realized he did it. I asked him not to, and he didn’t do it again.” She looks distressed, though. Jess sees it, too.

“Can he come meet you at The Grounds? I can bring Eden with me and we’ll hang out with Sandy while you talk, but then I’m still there for support if you need it. We also won’t be too far to put Liam at ease, as well.” It sounds like the perfect suggestion to me.

I look to Liam for confirmation. “If that’s what you want to do, then I’ll support you,” he says. “But if you change your mind, I’ll be right there.” He drops a hand to the small of my back, rubbing the area gently.

“That’s what I want,” I say and he nods in affirmation.

“That’s settled then. Let’s get everyone fed. We’ve got a big day!” Liam says while guiding me to my seat on the bench.

“A big day?” I ask.

“Yep, after your walk, I could use the girls’ help, actually.” Caroline and Elodie look over to him. “I need some help picking up the paddleboards I ordered from the marina. James is coming over at some point with the truck, but I thought it’d go faster with a few more hands.”

Elodie is talking as soon as he finishes asking. “Oh my god, yes! Can we use them? I mean, like are we allowed to use them?”

Liam chuckles. “Yeah, I mean, I bought them for you girls to use.”

Elodie pumps her fist up in the air in a loud “Yes!”

Caroline just says, “I could help…if you need.” She’s trying so hard to play it cool, but I don’t miss how quickly she scarfs down her breakfast to go get ready.

When I’ve finished eating, I glance over to Liam. He’s sipping his coffee and reading the news on his phone. His silver hair is mussed from working out and his shirt still slightly damp with perspiration, but I’ve never wanted him more. He looks in my direction, noticing me, and we exchange smiles. I love him so much. Ugh, I want him so bad.

We all help pick up from breakfast and then I excuse myself to go get ready for the walk. I’m hoping he’ll follow me, so when I turn back on the stairwell to see him several feet below but gaining on me, my muscles start clenching with anticipation. He’s looking at me like I’m his next meal, and I can’t fucking wait.

I turn on the shower in our ensuite, strip, then wait for him. As soon as he walks into the bathroom, I’m on him. I run my hands up his shirt, then help pull it over his head. Next, I work his shorts down, his thick cock greeting me once it’s free. Then taking his hand, I guide him into the heated shower.

“You messed up our routine,” I say to him. It looks like he blushes.

“I don’t want you to think that’s all we’re about, Britain.” That’s my fault. I told him once the lust fades, there’d be nothing left of us. I already know that’s not true.

“I know it’s not all we’re about,” I say, going on my tiptoes and pulling him down to my mouth. He wraps his arms around me, lifting me up with both hands on my ass cheeks, and I wrap my legs around him. He moves us, pinning me against the shower wall and I’m already soaking wet. So when I feel him near my entrance, I adjust slightly and he glides right into me.

“Fuck, Bambi,” he groans out as he thrusts against me and I run my hands up his neck, and into his hair.

“I wanted this the second I woke up this morning,” I whisper into his ear as he thrusts then grinds against me.

“Baby, there’s never a time I don’t want you,” he says, dropping his mouth to mine. We work together, pushing and pulling in our give and take. He pulls out slowly before slamming back into me, pinning his hips against mine, then whispers in a gravelly voice, “I want your pussy full and dripping my cum the rest of the day, so that when you’re sitting with him, I’m the one inside you.” His words set me on fire.

“Fuck, daddy. Yes, please. Pleaseeee…” I beg and moan, and I’m so fucking close.

“I want the whole world to know you’re mine, Britain. I want my ring back on your finger, yesterday. I want you having my babies, and I want everyone calling you Mrs. William Millar.” Jesus. I tilt my head back and moan out his name. “Do you want that, too, Mrs. Millar?” Of course I do.

I pant out in a moan, “Yes, daddy. I want that, too.” And with that, we both lose it. He roars, and I try not to scream when his name comes out of my mouth as all my muscles contract around him, over and over. His heat fills me, fueling me as I grind down against him, driving me into another orgasm right on the back of the last.

When the tension starts to leave his body, and our breathing slows, he rests his forehead against mine. “I meant what I said, Britain, but I can wait till you’re ready, okay?” I nod and he drops his mouth to mine. Gliding his tongue into my mouth sensually, my pussy clenches down on his still throbbing cock. I’ll be ready soon. I don’t say it out loud, though. He could stand to keep groveling.

He slides me slowly off his dick, setting me down in the shower. I duck out quickly to pee, but then come straight back to join him. While he’s scrubbing his body, I move under the massive showerhead and let the water soak me. When I step out and reach for the shampoo, he stops me. He puts a large amount in his own hand, working the suds up, then motions for me to turn around.

His fingers working the shampoo into my scalp feel fucking orgasmic. I think I even moan when his pressure increases. When he finishes my scalp massage, he places a gentle kiss on my shoulder, then says, “I’m going to take such good care of you, baby.” And I feel it in my bones. He’s going to take care of me and our family, and it’s like it’s all I’ve ever wanted — the way his words fill me up and soothe me. I want so badly to tell him I love him, but I’m going to wait. When the time is right, I’ll let him know.

He helps me rinse my hair, then apply conditioner, and when it’s time to scrub my body, he does all the work for me. Scrubbing an area clean, then covering it with kisses and love. He spends extra time on my abdomen, running a large hand over the area, then looking up at me from where he is on his knees.

“I just can’t believe our child is in there, Britain.” The look and smile he gives me after he says that makes me feel like a powerful goddess. That I am amazing and divine for carrying our child. He makes me feel like I’m magic. I look down at him, and push a stray lock of hair out of his eyes, and smile back. He’s magic, too. My magic.

“This is the second time today you’ve gotten down on your knees for me, Liam.” I laugh slightly at that fact. I bring Liam Millar to his knees.

“If that’s what it takes, I’ll fall to my knees for you every day. You’re my queen, Britain.” He pulls my hand to his mouth, placing a soft-yet-sensual kiss there.

“We should probably finish up, our family’s waiting.” I give him a hand to help pull him back up, and he looks down at me with a radiant smile. I’m about to ask him what he’s smiling about, when he beats me to it.

“I like the way that sounds, baby. Our family.” Me too, Liam Millar.
