KISS OF DARKNESS

XANDER & KYRA

Kyra, a black witch, was forced to work with Councilman Frederick, who sought more power by having her and other black witches summon a Daemon named Dirk. Frederick offered Kyra as collateral in a deal, and in her panic, she sought help from the Guardians. Xander was assigned to protect her, but she was still taken by Bane, Frederick’s assistant. Dirk tricked Frederick by secretly making a deal with Bane. Together, they forced Kyra to try to keep a soul bound to a body during its transition from druid to Daemon. Xander and the Guardians intervened, killing Bane and Dirk. Frederick was arrested for his crimes, and Kyra was freed.

TOUCH OF BLOOD

KACE & EVA

Eva was taken by her ex and given to the Vipers as payment for a debt. Kace, unaware that Eva was missing, found her working for his enemy while searching for Hunter, a troubled teenager. Kace entered the Vipers' fighting sands to save both Hunter and Eva. The Vipers were killed, revealing their alliance with a mysterious figure named Gideon.

WHISPER OF FATE

AXEL & SAMION

Axel used drugs to numb his physical pain, unaware it stemmed from his celibacy, not his bond with his beast. He found himself attracted to Sam and eventually gave in to his desire. Sam was reunited with his long-lost, abusive father, who grabbed Sam, expecting his natural Omega aura to calm his new pack. However, the pack consisted of the first of Gideon's experiments to create soldiers, known as ‘Skulls.’ While trying to save Sam, Axel and his cousin Titus were captured. Titus was tortured and forced into the Daemon transition. The Guardians, along with Sam, rescued both of them, but Gideon and his second-in-command, Bishop, escaped.

HEART OF CRIMSON

TITUS & RAE

Titus struggled with his new dark power after being forcibly transitioned from a druid to a Daemon. Rae, an assassin, tried and failed to kill him. With a target now on her head as well, they were forced to work together to eliminate those who wanted them dead. Initially believing the Archdruid was behind the plot, they discovered it was a trick: someone within the Order was possessed by the Daemon Bishop, Gideon’s second-in-command. Rae’s brother mistakenly revealed that he and her Guildmaster wanted her dead because of her mother’s pendant, a celestrial relic that made her immune to illness. Rae killed both her brother and her Guildmaster.

STROKE OF SHADOWS

SYTHE & HARPER

Sythe, aiming to take down Gideon and Bishop, went undercover. He infiltrated the Beauchamp family, who were heavily involved in the anti-Breed religion, Church of the Light, intending to cut off the funding for Gideon. However, he became distracted by Harper, the niece, who was trapped by her family and secretly providing information to the police to expose her uncle, Angel, and cousin, Wyatt, for their crimes. Wyatt used Harper to find a chalice. With the help of a faerie named Thea, Harper located the chalice.

Sythe, pretending to be a follower of the church, befriended Wyatt to get closer to Angel. He discovered that Angel knew nothing about Gideon and Bishop, and it was actually Wyatt who was working with the Daemons. Still pretending to be Wyatt’s friend, Sythe was forced to hand over the chalice Harper had found to the Daemon Bishop. When Sythe's cover was blown, he and other Guardians killed Bishop. Wyatt stole the chalice and took Harper to be sacrificed by Gideon, who needed to activate the chalice's power. Before she could be sacrificed, Sythe and the Guardians saved her, killing Wyatt. However, Gideon escaped.

BURN OF OBSIDIAN

JAX & THEA

Jax, who first met Thea in Stroke of Shadows, knew instantly she was his mate. Watching her from a distance, he realises she’s the thief who’s just stolen one of the pages needed to decipher the chalice. Forcing her to work with him, they try and hunt down the remaining pages before Gideon can claim them. Enlisting Thea’s thief friend, Roach, they travel to Washington for another page, only for Roach to betray them. Fortunately, Thea outwits Roach and secures the page, though she escapes.

Now with the page, Thea receives a text message that she expects from her sister, but is just a trap to get her away from Jax. Gideon corners her, wanting her to betray the Guardians so he can have the page and complete the chalice. Jax intervenes, but Gideon takes him rather than her, telling Thea if she wanted Jax to survive, she had to bring him to page. Jax resists reading the celestrial pages, only when Thea comes and is tortured does he decipher the pages, allowing Gideon to start powering the chalice.

But Thea was secretly working with the Guardians, and took the page with the intention of rescuing Jax. The Guardians fight back Gideon and his Daemons, who escapes with the chalice.
