CHAPTER SIXTEEN

ECHO

D addy had said something like that before, and she had never asked what he meant. He opened his mouth to tell her, but there was a knock on the door before it opened.

“Sorry for the interruption, but everyone is wondering and worried about her. She okay?” Xavier asked.

Echo buried her face in Daddy’s chest, shielding herself.

“She’s better,” Daddy said. “Thanks for checking in.”

“Need anything?”

“Could you grab us some food and water? Maybe a little sweet treat as well.”

“I’ll be back in five.”

She heard the door shut, and Daddy ran his hands up and down her back.

“You can come out now.”

But she didn’t want to. She was comfortable where she was.

“Okay, you’re okay there.”

“I don’t want to move into your house by the end of the week,” she mumbled.

“Why?”

“People will start talking more.”

“Who cares? They can talk all they want. We are meant to be together. We know we are meant to be together. Why wait? Because some people are going to talk? Yeah, no, we aren’t going to listen to them.”

“But it’s the house I’ve been living in.”

“The house you’ve been renting . It’s not your home. I want to move you into my house so we can make it a home.”

Her heart melted at his words. He wanted to turn his house into a home with her. How sweet was that? He knew the right things to say to her.

“I want to build a life together. Spend the rest of our lives together. Me being your Daddy, your lover, your husband, your best friend.”

Echo blinked several times as she kept her face on his chest. He really wanted that?

“So, by the end of the week, you will move into my house. I know your lease is coming up for renewal at the end of the month; you won’t be renewing that.”

“But what about my office? My office is in my house,” she whispered.

“My house has five bedrooms. One for us, one for your office, and three for guests or maybe if we ever decide to have kids,” he explained.

“K-kids?”

Echo felt the blood drain from her face. He was already thinking about kids? How had he gone from wanting to move her into his house to wanting kids in under five minutes?

“Shhh, you’re okay. Not right now, but if you do want children, I will gladly fill you with my seed and get you pregnant. We can practice now if you want.” His voice was so husky.

She squirmed in his lap, unable to help but feel turned on by his words.

“Hmm, somebody likes the idea of that,” Daddy whispered.

How could she not? To feel him fill her up with his seed, pushing it back in whenever it started to spill out.

Heaven.

“That will come at a later date,” Daddy explained. “Right now, I want you to myself.”

Echo liked the sound of just being his. Was she really going to give in?

“Tonight, we are going to relax and cuddle on my office floor. Tomorrow, we are going to go over everything, including how you want to move your stuff in by the end of the week.”

“End of the month,” she countered, pulling back and looking at him.

“Week.”

She shook her head, not backing down. “I have the end of the month in the lease. End of the month if I am going to be moving in.”

“Then I’ll be staying over at your house every night I can,” he declared.

“What! No! That’s not how it works.” Her voice raised dramatically.

“It’s either you move into our home by the end of the week, or you stay in the house you are renting and I come over every night to sleep with you. Those are the only two options.”

Her mouth hung open as she stared at him.

“You’ve got to be joking.”

“Does it look like I am?”

She stared at his face, looking to see if he would give any indication that he was. He wasn’t.

Echo sighed. “No, it doesn’t.”

“Exactly because I’m not. You either move into our home by the end of the week, or I will stay at your house.”

“Can I think about it?”

“If you don’t give me an answer by the end of the week, I am going to assume you want to move in,” he stated. “But tell me whenever. Just know if you say nothing, you’ll move into our home.”

This was all so much to take in. Was she really considering living with Deccan by the end of the week? Was she in her right mind to make a decision like this?

Probably not, but she needed to. She needed to think about the pros and cons. Either way, by the end of the month, she would be there.

“Can I see your house?” she asked.

“Does tomorrow work for you?”

“Maybe in the afternoon. I need to get some work done first.”

She was behind in her work. Everything was hitting her all at once, and she hadn’t been able to do her job effectively. Okay, she wasn’t that far behind, but there were some tasks she had pushed to later because she couldn’t focus.

“Sounds good. Just message me when you’re free. I’ll make sure to have my phone on me in the afternoon and be available,” Daddy told her before kissing her forehead.

She sighed and relaxed into his embrace. She was really doing this. Was she dumb for giving in so quickly?

“I’ve got you. You can let go.” Daddy ran his hands through her hair.

How he knew she wasn’t fully relaxed, she would never know. But he did. There was a knock on the door, making her pull away from him.

“Ah, did I say you could move?” Daddy asked.

She shook her head.

“Get back here,” he instructed.

Echo placed her head back on his chest and took a deep breath.

“Come in,” Daddy called out.

“Sorry, I would have brought it earlier, but I heard a little bit of the conversation and didn’t want to interrupt it,” Xavier explained.

Echo pulled away again, getting off Daddy’s lap as Xavier set a plate of food on Daddy’s desk.

“I’ve got to go home,” she whispered. “I need to sleep.”

“Eat first,” Daddy commanded.

“I ate before I got here.”

It wasn’t a lie, but it wasn’t the truth. She had eaten some snacks at BTS and her house.

“Was it a full meal?” Daddy asked.

She shook her head. “No, Daddy, it wasn’t.”

She felt her body relax as she called him Daddy again. It felt right to call him that. Her gaze moved toward Xavier, trying to gauge his reaction to her calling Deccan Daddy. She hadn’t asked if he wanted her to call him Daddy in front of other people.

“You’re okay, Echo,” Daddy said, getting up. “No one is going to judge you for calling me Daddy. We actually have several other Daddy Doms in the club.”

She didn’t know how Springfield became the hub for Daddy Doms. Was it something in the water that bred them? Or did one get here and then tell everyone else to move here?

“I want you to eat something before you leave,” Daddy explained.

“I’m really not hungry. I snacked a lot before I got here. I can eat something right before I go to bed,” she offered.

Daddy stared at her, and she grew nervous. She wasn’t trying to undermine him, but she really wasn’t hungry.

“We’ll bring this with us,” Daddy said, picking up the plate.

“I can walk home alone. It’s just around the corner.”

“It’s not safe,” Xavier and Daddy said at the same time.

She sighed. “I’ve been doing it for years. It’s nothing new. I’ve got my knife on me and pepper spray.”

“I would feel better if I walked with you,” Daddy said.

“Daddy, please. I’ve done it a thousand times, and I’ve always been safe. I will be safe. I am always aware of my surroundings.”

Daddy looked at her.

“Please, Daddy. I’ll text you when I get home. It’ll be the first thing I do once I lock my door and I’m safely inside.”

He sighed. “Text me right away. It should take you five minutes to get there. If you don’t text me within five minutes, I will come after you.”

“Sheesh. Five minutes if it’s a brisk walk or I have my Heelys on, but I don’t. Give me ten so I don’t have to be out of breath.” She rolled her eyes. “Trying to kill me?”

Daddy growled, and she flinched.

“Right, sorry. Shouldn’t joke about that,” she mumbled.

“Damn straight you shouldn’t. You are not going to die.”

“Soooo ten minutes?” she asked.

Daddy sighed once again. “Ten minutes but not a second more. Your time starts now.”

Her eyes went wide, and she quickly grabbed the plate of food.

“Thanks, Xavier!” She turned around and started walking toward the door.

“Freeze!” Daddy commanded.

She froze and turned around. “What now? My time is ticking away.”

Daddy rolled his eyes this time and she bit back a smile. She had never seen Daddy roll his eyes before. Was she rubbing off on him?

“Yes?” she asked.

“You didn’t give Daddy a kiss goodbye.” He touched his lips.

“Really?”

He just stared at her and pointed to his lips again. Echo looked at the door and then back at him.

“Time is ticking,” he said.

She walked over to him, pecking his lips before turning and leaving the room.

“You really going—” Xavier started to talk, but Echo couldn't hear the rest of the sentence as she got further away.

Everyone’s eyes were on her as she made her way through the main room and toward the front door.

“Uhh, nothing to see here!” she called out as she walked out of the door.

She didn’t wait for them to reply but continued to walk. She knew she had time to get to home, but she didn’t want to chance it. What if there was more traffic and she had to wait to cross the street?

Echo took a deep breath and slowed her walking a little. She needed not to stress her body out even more. She had gone through a lot in the past day, but specifically the past two hours.

Was her life always going to be like this? So much going on that she was constantly overwhelmed? Or would Daddy help her and calm everything down?

As Echo walked to her house, she felt eyes on her. Looking around, she tried to spot Deccan or one of his men, but no one was around. She couldn’t hear footsteps.

Echo ran her hand through her hair. She was just imagining things. She was on edge after everything. Pushing that feeling of being watched away, she got to her front door. There were a lot of things she needed to get done after work tomorrow.

She needed to call her landlord and tell her she wouldn’t be renewing her year-long lease again. Then she needed to go over to Daddy’s house and go over everything.

Was she really going to do this? Was it a wise idea? Should she talk to some of the girls before she made any final decisions?

But she already had made a decision. That was why she was going over to his house tomorrow to see it and figure everything out.

“I hope I’m doing the right thing,” she whispered.

Echo unlocked her house and stepped inside, locking it right after. Even though she had always been safe, Echo locked her house when she got in. There was no need to mess around and find out.

She walked to the kitchen and put the food in the fridge before texting Daddy.

Echo

I’m home. Made it here safely.

Daddy

Good. Eat and get some sleep. I’ll message you tomorrow about when we can meet up.

Was she actually going to eat? Probably not. She still wasn’t fully hungry, but she knew she would get in trouble if she didn’t. Pulling out the plate of food, she took several bites before placing it back in the fridge.

Daddy never said she had to eat all the food on the plate. So she wasn’t going to. If he brought it up, she would explain about the loophole.

Sighing, she walked to her room and got ready for bed. She was exhausted emotionally and physically. She had been feeling this way for a while. Would Daddy start making her take naps if he found out?

Echo snorted. She was not going to tell Daddy she was so tired. There was no reason for her to take a nap.

Nope.

Naps weren't for her.

Crawling into bed, she plugged her phone in and got comfortable.

“I love you, Jingles,” she mumbled before falling asleep.
