Chapter 33-Ono
“ Y ou ready?” I called up the stairs, waiting for my wife to come and join me.
She loves me.
I had plans to drop her off at the Stargazer Hotel with Michaela and a few of her cousins for a Spa day before tonight’s festivities.
While the girls did their thing, I was meeting Sammy and Jr. at Volkov Towers.
Together with their fathers and the others we were going to go over what we knew about my little problem and come up with a plan.
It’d been quiet the last few days, but word of my marriage and the party tonight had gotten picked up by some fucking paparazzi scumbag internet rag, and now I had to double security at the hotel.
No, I wasn’t a mobster, but I was a pretty important businessman with old mob ties and that was news in the tri-State area.
Fuck.
“Yeah, I’m ready!” Michelle yelled back, and I met her at the top of the stairs, taking the small suitcase she had with her.
“What’s all this? It’s just one night,” I said, grinning.
“I know, but I didn’t get to wear a wedding dress on the plane. So, I thought I’d try something special for tonight.”
“Yeah?”
Images of my wife in a sexy gown flashed in my brain and heat stirred beneath my fly, making my pants much too tight.
She was stunning no matter what she wore, but I had to confess I was dying to see what she had in her bag.
“Yeah,” she answered, her dark eyes glittering with mischief.
“I can’t wait to see, Bellezza,” I told her, kissing her sweet mouth before turning to walk in front of her.
I’d had the stairs treated with non-slip treads, but I would always worry about my wife’s safety.
So, as long as I was home, I was going to do whatever I felt I had to do to keep her safe.
Even if it meant behaving like a lunatic.
The ride into the city was longer on Saturdays, but we sat together in the back of the Navigator I’d had specially outfitted with bulletproof glass.
Gio and Flacco sat in front. There was another SUV with four more guards from Sigma International, the security team owned by Josef Aziz, following behind us.
I’d already pointed them out to Michelle. And I explained about the extra security that would tail her and the other women throughout their day.
“We have the entire penthouse and the restaurant for the entire day?”
“And for half of tomorrow. Check out is at two,” I informed her. “Is that alright?”
“Alright? Oh my goodness, it’s amazing,” she said, biting her lower lip.
“Good. Now, I’ve got some things to see to, then I’ll be joining you at six.”
“Okay. I’ll be the one with the huge smile on my face,” she said jokingly.
“I’ll be the one smiling back,” I said, grinning at the picture she made.
The truck pulled into the underground parking lot at the hotel, and I exited with Michelle, walking her to the private elevator.
There were half a dozen men and women from Sigma waiting there to attend to Michelle. And that wasn’t all.
“Shelly!!!” I raised my eyebrows as half a dozen squealing women accosted my wife in front of the elevator doors, and I squinted against the assault on my ears.
“Oh. My God!!! You look so beautiful!”
“Is this him?”
“I know him!”
“Hey, you’re Sammy’s friend, right?”
“Ladies, it is my pleasure to meet you. Michelle?”
“Oooh!!”
“Oh my God! Shut up,” she chided her girls.
I grinned and wrapped my hand around her wrist, savoring the feel of her satin soft skin.
“I hate leaving you at all, but I know you got things to do. And I’m leaving you in good hands,” I said, pulling her to me for a semi-chaste kiss.
“See you later,” she said, eyes half-lidded and looking at me like I was the answer to her prayers.
I hoped I was. God knew she was mine.
She said she loves me.
I hadn’t said it back yet.
But I was going to.
Because I did love her. More than anything in the whole world, I loved my wife.
And I was going to tell her.
Soon.
