Chapter 21
Poe fed Sherlock while Tyr and Harden fed Watson and Mycroft. The council was meeting, and they were waiting to hear why Cade had been summoned.
After all the hubbub about the big green dragon who had been run out of the valley, there really hadn’t been any problems, so maybe the elders were going to tell Cadeyrn that they didn’t need so many guardians…
But man, the big alphas were having fun being a force of nature together…
Which left Cade more time to be home with him and the babies.
“I really appreciate you guys helping out. I know you’re busy too.”
“Not too busy for this.” Harden’s smile was warm, almost surprised.
Both dragons were tickled to be ewyrmli—uncles.
It was so cute.
“Ewyrml Tyr will always have time for his sweet nyii. Always.”
He grinned. They were so smitten. And why not? The trips were… Goddess, they melted his heart every day. He loved them so much, and he was so glad they were out of him!
“They’ll love you so much.”
“They already do.” Cade came in, eyes glinting. “They’re spoiled rotten.”
“Ah, Cade.” Tyr looked up, eyes bright with curiosity. “What was the meeting about?”
“The interloper.” Cade rolled his eyes. “The elders received a missive from the city of Kyllt, apologizing. We all feel as if we will stay…alert. Apologies are well and good.”
But apologies aren’t our children. Poe knew that, at the pit of his soul.
Yes. We will be vigilant. I already spoke to Zeke and Ty, who came down to the tavern. Cade looked at their boys, eyes glowing like blue metal.
All three of the triplets opened their eyes as well, the light shining from them.
The magic was fierce, wild, and the energy began to build when Tanya came in, booping one of the boys on the nose.
“Be good, little flashlights. The sun isn’t down yet.”
Poe chuckled softly and opened his arm to her. “You’re their hero, just like you’re mine.”
“I love you too, Papa.” She came to hug him, then kiss Sherlock on the head. “We’re family, no matter what.”
“Family,” all the adults agreed, and a flare of golden light seemed to flash around them, sealing that as a promise.
Yes. They were family. And together, they could face anything.
