It’s been hours since Skyler disappeared, and we are finally mobilizing and headed out to get back what’s mine.

Vincenzo’s contact with the tracking system had a hard time locking onto the signal. Matteo did warn it was a prototype, which means we could be going on a fucking wild goose chase, but with nothing else to go on, no leads, we have no choice.

Turns out, Spider’s grandfather owned an old house in the woods between Devil’s Canyon and Oak Ridge. The blueprints Hawk was able to pull up show a small house, with a basement or maybe a cellar downstairs which is where we believe the girls are being held.

Matteo had us follow him into town to a storage unit facility. The place lies between an old diner and a strip mall that’s half vacant. The place looks destitute, which is precisely why the guns we’re currently strapping up with are kept here.

“Take what you can carry. We don’t know what we’re walking into or how many may be waiting for us.” Gabe instructs.

“I want Pop and Gus with me in one SUV. Jake and Mack in the second. Ethan, Hawk, and Jameson in the third. Eli you and your men ride out ahead and get a lay of the land. Park down the road so we don’t tip them off. You go in through the back. We’ll take the front.”

Eli and his men leave off in a hurry. A few minutes later we load up and get on the road behind them.

Jameson is driving our SUV after spewing some bullshit about me being too high strung to operate a vehicle safely. What-the-fuck-ever. I’m pissed and sure my mind is a little all over the map, but I wouldn’t risk my brothers lives by being careless.

My mind is bombarded with images of Skyler tied and beaten. Her clothes torn and her body used and abused like Emily’s was. It’s making it hard to breathe.

“Yo!” Hawk shouts. “Ethan. You good?”

“No, I’m not good. Of course I’m not fucking good. My girl’s been taken by the same psychopath who killed her father. The same psycho who holds her responsible for things even she doesn’t know about. The same person who wants to take out our entire fucking club, and we’re headed right to him, giving him exactly what he wanted. The whole fucking club!”

First, we are going to get Skyler back. You saw the security feed. He didn’t take her she went willingly which means even she believes we’re coming to get her. So, get your head out of your ass and back on your shoulders, because your fucking woman is counting on you.” Jameson chastises.

“Second, he may think he’s going to take out the entire club, but the idiot underestimates who we have on our side. They have no idea the skill sets we bring to the table. Shit, Mack alone should scare the motherfucker.”

“Well, he knows who Ghost is and that didn’t deter him from fucking up his business.” I snap, still not able to calm my damn nerves.

“Ah, see that’s why he attacked Glitz and Tass. Ghost has a reputation and Spider needed Ghost to be distracted, to stay home. He’s the threat they didn’t want to come to the party.” Hawk explains and Jameson seems to agree.

“I guess you’re right.”

“Oh shit!” Hawk shouts. “Wait. Let me get my phone out. I need to record this shit. Ethan Anderson admitting I’m right!”

“Fuck off.”

“Ethan.” Jameson makes eyes contact with me in the rearview. “We’re going to get her back. Now that we’ve established, we’re right, and you’re pathetic, when are you going to make an honest woman out of her?”

He’s trying to distract me, I know, but I play along. Grateful for their annoying asses and their antics.

“As soon as she’ll let me.” I answer honestly. “I scared her a little with the whole moving in with me thing. I think she has it in her head the move to my apartment is a temporary arrangement.”

“It’s not?” Jameson asks, seemingly shocked at the idea.

“Skyler’s never leaving my side again.”

We’ve been driving for nearly an hour when Jameson’s phone rings out in the car, blue tooth picks it up.

“Pres.” Jameson says on way of greeting.

“Eli and his men have visual on the house. It’s back in the trees, off a dirty road. We’re going to find a spot to park and go in on foot in case they’ve lined the road with explosives.”

“You think they’re smart enough to do that?” Jameson questions.

“A pipe bomb was used to shut down our strip club. I’m not going to assume anything about these assholes.” Gabe makes his point then hangs up.

A short drive later, we follow Gabe off onto a side road and park the SUVs. Jameson opens the trunk. Gus and Hawk grab their rifles and start walking toward the tree line. Mack throws a duffle bag over his shoulder, and we all follow Gabe’s lead through the woods.

Gabe signals for everyone to stay low. Hawk’s voice comes over the comms link and says, “I count two Devils on premises. One kid. No sign of Skyler.”

“Can you get a clear shot of the two men?” Gabe asks.

“Negative. The girl is in the room blocking my shot.”

“Gus. What about you? Can you get a shot off?”

“Negative.”

‘’Shit!” Gabe curses. “What’s our best point of entry?”

“Front door.”

“Roger that.” Gabe signals for two at the back, two at the front, and two at the tree line. We split off and make our way down. When we reach the house, Mack tries the knob turning slowly so as not to make any noise.

The dumbasses left the door unlocked.

Once inside, we begin quietly clearing the space. It’s a small house. Two bedrooms, a small kitchen and living area. Gabe and Caleb come through the back door, holding up a finger for us to stay quiet.

“Quit crying and get your fucking clothes off or I’m going to cut them off and you can go back to the basement fucking naked for all I care!” A man’s voice roars from a bedroom at the end of the hall.

“We only need a few pictures to send the buyer proof of possession. He wants verification of age.”

“How the fuck are we supposed to prove her age? We ain’t got a birth certificate or anything.”

“Don’t care how you do it. Take a shot of her cunt. Maybe that’ll appease the old bastard. Just figure it the fuck out!”

“All right, but remember you promised I could test the product before we shipped them off.”

“Once we’ve got the picture, you can have a go at the girl. But the Fury bitch is mine.”

I’m seeing red. If either one of these fucksticks touch one hair on her head, I’m going to filet them my goddamn self.

Gabe counts us of telling Mack and me to head for the basement door. Eli and Walker enter the front door. We pass them on our way downstairs.

Gunshots are fired upstairs. Mack shoots the lock on the basement door. When it swings open, there’s my Sunshine, in her fight stance ready to defend herself.

“Baby.” I push past Mack, putting my gun away before takin her into my arms. Skyler wraps her arms around me, fisting my shirt as she cries in my arms.

“Clear!” Eli shouts down the steps.

“Clear!” Mack calls back. “Sky’s down here. Gonna bring her up.” He’s letting them know to hide the mess and dead bodies from her view.

“Lilah?” Skyler looks up at me, her eyes pleading.

“We’ve got her, baby. Gabe and the guys have her upstairs. She’s safe.”

No sooner do the words pass my lips, does Skyler’s body drop. I hoist her up, cradling her to my chest.

“I got you Sunshine. Let’s go home.
