Forum Thread: I adopted a Husky because my agent said a pet would help my cold image, social anxiety, and I thought, help get my ex back. Instead, he’s eating me out of house and home. HELP!

@holeinonetobogey:

I’m in way over my head with my new dog, and my ex, a dog trainer, hasn’t returned my texts. What do I have to do to keep him from destroying everything in my house?

@drgarrettvet:

Huskies are extremely intelligent and high-energy.

As sled dogs, they need a tremendous amount of exercise.

I would suggest making sure you get them out for at least a good few miles of running at least once a day.

(I need to hear more about this ex of yours, and if your little plan works! )

@huskylover:

Are you a bike rider? Bikejoring is similar to sledding and a great way to get both of you exercise. Definitely ask your ex about it—if they get back to you.

@dogsrulecatsdrool:

I had a Husky, and she never stopped talking to me! Exercise is key. I wish I had known about bikejoring. It sounds like fun!

@holeinonetobogey:

Oh, Bogey is getting exercise; he runs away from me at least once a day.

@dogsrulecatsdrool:

I remember those days! Maybe it’s time to reach out to someone who wants to help you? J/K. Try using a martingale. It helps to keep them from slipping out of their collars.

@huskylover:

Yeah, a martingale collar can help with the escaping. Definitely try that.

@whippetmom:

Lots of good advice here already, I’m just here for the ‘getting a dog to get my ex back’. Tell me more!

@huskylover:

Oh Dude. You should’ve picked any other dog!

@holeinonetobogey:

Me getting a dog with my schedule was silly, regardless of breed. I needed something to get her to talk to me.

@dogsrulecatsdrool:

So glad that’s working for you.

@whippetmom:

I think it’s kind of sweet.

@huskylover:

You would, being a Whippet Mom.

@whippetmom:

HA! This is true.

@holeinonetobogey:

She just responded. What should I say?

@huskylover:

What do you mean? Didn’t you think about what you’d say when she got back to you?

@dogsrulecatsdrool:

@whippetmom:

Beg for her help, and be humble. I see love in your future.

@dogsrulecatsdrool:

I see something in your future. HAHA

@holeinonetobogey:

Thanks, everyone, she’s going to help!

@huskylover:

Whoop. Whoop! Good Luck!

@huskylover:

If it doesn’t work, I can make room for Bogey in my home! (Bogey. HA!)
