Chapter 5
Chapter Five
Bellonna
I stand there watching as the stranger takes him, my victim, the very one who called me for help.
He looks odd, as if he doesn’t belong in this time, like he’s from an older era, much like myself. He’s in a black vest with a logo on it. He turns to look back at me as he heads for the door, so I’m not able to make out the logo. His hair is long and dark, falling in waves around his shoulders.
If I couldn’t smell it on him, I’d know what he was from his pale complexion. It’s a dead giveaway. Vampire. An older one at that. One stuck in a gothic appearance, the dark makeup around his eyes a sharp contrast to his light skin. I let out a smirk at the mysterious, dramatic look.
But nevertheless, he’s taking what’s mine. What’s owed to me. The unicorn called to me, said my name, and gave himself to me freely for my help.
When the mysterious stranger blinks his eyes, I vanish, transporting myself back home.
I pace my room as the raw, gut-wrenching sting of betrayal cuts deep, almost as deep as the betrayal by my supposed best friend. All he had to do was wait for me to make my decision.
How dare he call to me, offering whatever I desire, only to turn around and seek out another for safety, falling into their arms for comfort.
Why am I so mad? This should be happiness for me. One less job I have to invest my time into. Yet I’m still mad. He was different.
Anger begins to boil deep inside me. It’s hot and suffocating. It’s not just of anger, but that of a deep, gnawing pain. Once again, I have been betrayed. The pain of being cast aside yet again eats away at the very vestige of my mind.
I pace the room, wearing a hole into the carpet as my fists clench at my sides, my nails cutting into my flesh, drawing blood. The betrayal of being called for help and then cast aside like a dirty rag has my stomach churning with acid.
Who was the man who interfered in my plans? The need to know weighs heavily on me.
I think of him, locking onto the cry that brought me to him initially and locating him, popping back into the building, but now we're in a hallway, a battle raging before me as another, a mortal, holds onto the unicorn.
He’s wearing the same type of leather jacket as the other, and I make out the words on the back.
Crimson Brotherhood.
I haven’t come across them before, but their name is known within the underworld. An MC of vampires who are only out for their own gain. A unicorn would bring them great wealth. They’re just as horrible as the Obsidian Circle.
I watch as gunfire wages and the vampire from earlier drains the life of a man before dropping his limp body to the floor and turning, facing my direction. His gaze locks onto me and my eyes drift to his lips, blood dripping from his mouth, down his chin and neck. The crimson color is a nice nod to the name of his gang.
I’m frozen in place, staring at this gothic beauty, mesmerized by him, much the same as he seems to be by me. No, I can’t. He stole what was mine. It’s time I plan my revenge. Just as quickly as I arrived, I leave. I know who he is, and I don’t think it will be hard to find him and his group.
I’ll let them have you for now, unicorn, but you will be mine. I’ll make sure that you and anyone who comes in contact with you know. With my heart racing and my vision blurred with anger, I take my leave before I suffocate them all with the anger within me. Only Lilith knows the true power I possess, and neither of us plans to utter the truth.
I transport myself to a field where I can let out all my rage without anyone questioning my loss of control.
I will find the assholes who robbed me and make them pay, as well as the Obsidian Circle, for hurting what was mine. Most importantly, I’ll make sure the gorgeous man who called upon me in the first place is punished for his betrayal. No one calls me and doesn’t wait for my answer, let alone seek out help from someone else. Varys, your soul is mine and I’m coming to collect. Too bad the others lost theirs when they transitioned, or I’d take them too. But make no mistake, I will be taking their blood as payment for daring to go against me.
Hold tight, because this bitch is about to rock everyone’s world.
