CHAPTER 7
AIDEN
I silenced the voice in my head that urged me to put on the brakes. All I could think about the whole ride back to the ranch was how it felt to kiss Paisley. And how much I wanted to do it again.
As soon as we stumbled inside the bunkhouse, my hands tangled in her hair. Her coat fell to the floor, and our lips smashed together. My senses overloaded with the smell of her perfume, the sound of the low moans coming from the back of her throat, and the sweet taste of wine on her lips.
I slid my fingers over her satin skirt in an attempt to hike it up her thighs. I’d tried to fight the attraction, but when I’d seen her standing on the dance floor in a form-fitting dress that clung to her curves, I’d lost it. And when another man had touched her, all I could see was red.
With her back pressed against the wall, I cupped her ass with my arm and lifted. Caught between my chest and the unyielding paneling, she wrapped her legs around my waist. The skirt shifted as her high heels hit the floor. I plunged my tongue into her mouth and took control.
What we were doing was so wrong, but it felt so right. She molded against me, her soft curves a perfect fit to my hard angles. The heat between us could have set the whole damn bunkhouse on fire. I hadn’t been with a woman in over nine years. My cock strained against my zipper. Paisley ground her hips into mine, the friction driving me wild.
Not yet. I wanted to savor every moment, store it away in my memory to relive whenever I needed to remind myself that someone wanted me. Even if she only needed me in the heat of the moment, it was a start.
I pushed off the wall and carried her toward my side of the bunkhouse. Remembering my pillow and quilt were still in the barn, I changed direction. On our way across the room, my leg bumped into the small dining table in our shared space.
“Touch me, Aiden.” Her voice came out breathless, her lips barely losing contact.
Desperate to give her exactly what she wanted and so much more, I rested her ass on the edge of the table. “Are you sure about this?”
She nodded, giving consent without breaking our kiss. Her palms skimmed down my shoulders and started working my buttons free. At the same time, I slid my hands under her skirt and up her smooth thighs. Goose bumps pebbled her skin. My shirt fell away, and I pulled my arms free.
She leaned back, her gaze raking over my bare chest. “You’re rock hard.”
“Baby, you have no idea.” I took her hand and showed her exactly how hard I was.
Her eyes widened as she bit down on her bottom lip. “It’s been a long time for me.”
Warmth spread through my chest at her show of vulnerability. I needed to reassure her, so I squeezed her hands. “We don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do, Paisley.”
Nodding, she shifted her gaze to where our hands joined. “I want to do this. I’m just…”
“What, baby?” My fingers nudged her chin upward until she met my gaze.
“I’m afraid you’re going to break me.” Those big green eyes held volumes of truth. Her seriousness threw me. So much that I couldn’t help but try to lighten the moment.
“If you’re worried about it fitting, I promise you can take me. We’ll go slow.”
She held my gaze and shook her head back and forth. “That’s not what I meant.”
“I know.” The truth was, I was scared shitless. This woman had the ability to ruin me in more ways than one. I’d never been prone to taking a chance when it came to matters of the heart. But Paisley made me want to try something different. Made me want to be a man she could depend on. I hadn’t quite wrapped my head around that yet. “Maybe we should rethink this?—”
Her lips crashed into mine, stopping me from saying anything more. At that point, I forced my brain to take a backseat while my body took over. I tugged the dress up, and she lifted her arms over her head to let me peel it off her. She didn’t have on a bra, and my eyes drank her in.
“Come here.” I lifted her up and carried her beyond the curtain marking off her side of the bunkhouse. Even in the dim light, I could see the house plants on her windowsill and framed art she’d hung up around the room. We were as different as night and day, belonged together about as much as peanut butter and pickles. But something inside her drew me toward her like a freezing man desperate for the warmth of a fire who knew he was going to get burned.
She laid back on the bed and pulled me with her. I buried my nose in her hair, inhaling the sweet scent of her shampoo. Her fingers went to the button of my jeans. Within seconds, I’d shed my pants and kicked them onto the floor.
Starting at her neck, I kissed and nibbled my way down her body, stopping to pay homage to the most gorgeous set of tits I’d ever seen. I brushed my thumb over one nipple while I sucked the other into my mouth and swirled my tongue around the hard bud.
“Condom?” she asked.
Fuck. Nothing like a frigid dose of reality to cockblock what was sure to be the best night of my life. I shook my head, the scruff on my cheeks brushing against her belly.
Her hands tangled in my hair. “I’m on the pill.”
“I’m clean,” I mumbled. Maybe we were really going to go through with this.
Her “me too” came out so soft that I wasn’t sure she’d said anything until she shimmied out of her hot pink boy shorts.
I spread her legs, my mouth watering as my toes curled in anticipation. Then I propped her hips up with my palm underneath her ass and swept my tongue along her slick entrance.
My eyes rolled back in my head, and I grabbed a fistful of Aiden’s hair as he sucked my swollen clit into his mouth. Heat rocketed through my limbs. It had been so long since that part of me had seen any attention from a real live man… tingles radiated out from my core, getting stronger with every sweep of his tongue.
I clenched my teeth, trying to hold out and not get pulled under too soon as my orgasm built. When I couldn’t hang on any longer, I let go. My entire body tensed, every muscle taut. Then wave after wave of pleasure washed over me, turning my limbs to jelly.
Aiden didn’t let up until I squirmed underneath him, my clit too sensitive for his touch. I awkwardly tugged him up until he rested his chin between my breasts.
“You look like a goddess when you come.” He leaned forward, capturing my mouth.
I’d never tasted myself on a man’s lips before, but with Aiden, it seemed natural. And hot. Every move he made lit me up inside until it felt like I might spontaneously combust.
With his arms wrapped tightly around me, he flipped us over so he laid on his back. I straddled his waist, his cock jutting up behind my ass. It wouldn’t take much to lift my hips and slide down onto him. Wanting to give him as much pleasure as he’d just delivered to me, I did just that.
The tip of his cock nudged against my entrance. I adjusted my hips and lowered myself onto him. Little by little, giving myself plenty of time to adjust to the sheer size of him, I eased down.
“Fuuuuuuck, Paisley.” His hands gripped my hips, his fingers digging in and holding me in place. “Are you trying to kill me, baby?”
“Death by orgasm?” I teased.
“I can’t think of a better way to go.” He bent forward and captured my nipple in his mouth. The stirrings of another orgasm gathered in my core.
Our rhythm was awkward at first, jerky, out of sync movements that made me wonder if I’d been wrong about our potential. Then something changed. His hips thrust at the same moment mine crashed down, and we fell into a synchronized dance of give and take. He shifted his attention from one breast to the other while his hands stayed on my hips, pulling me down onto his cock, then lifting me back up again.
The pace quickened, each of us desperate to find our release. He plunged into me, over and over, the base of his cock connecting with my clit and activating a spot deep inside me I hadn’t been aware of until him. It started in my toes, the wave working its way up my legs and gathering momentum. Stars didn’t just dance across the backs of my eyelids, they exploded.
I tumbled, like that time I went to Coney Island and got caught in a freakish huge wave. Up became down, left became right, until I didn’t know where I was.
Aiden groaned, a low moan that seemed to last forever as he held onto my hips. “That’s it, Paisley. Keep going, darlin’.”
I squeezed my inner walls around him, wanting to wring out the last bit of pleasure for both of us. Then I collapsed on top of his chest, burrowing my nose into his neck. The cold wind howled outside the windows, but I’d never felt so safe, so warm, so protected.
Aiden pulled the covers over us and wrapped his arms around me. Then he pressed a gentle kiss to my forehead. “Give me a minute, and I’ll go get something to clean you up.”
“You don’t have to do that.” I probably should have gotten up on my own to go to the bathroom, but I didn’t like the idea of breaking contact. The bathroom was all the way on the other side of the bunkhouse, and beyond the warmth we’d just created between us, it was cold.
“It’s been a long time since I’ve had anything or anyone to take care of,” Aiden said.
Sensing I might get a glimpse of what was behind the thick walls he hid behind, I gave a slight nudge. “Tell me about it?”
He was quiet for so long, I thought I’d pushed too far. I was about to apologize, then he shifted his arm and reached for my hand.
“You think a guy with a dark past can be redeemed?”
“Yes. In case you haven’t noticed, I’m a glass half full kind of girl. I believe there’s good in everyone and if someone is willing to let the good shine bright enough to chase away the bad, then yes, they deserve a second chance.” My fingers tightened around his in a show of silent support.
“There’s something I want to tell you, Paisley.”
I took in a deep breath and steeled myself for whatever was headed my way. Before Aiden could say another word, the bunkhouse door flew open.
