Chapter 13
CHAPTER THIRTEEN
Dexter
The hotel room is nice enough, with sleek, modern furniture and crisp white bedding that smells faintly of lavender. We’ve been here several days now, our temporary home away from home. It's a step up from the usual places Pete and I stay for work, but it still feels too empty, like it's missing something.
Someone.
Pete stands by the window, his broad shoulders framed by the pale glow of Tacoma's city lights. There's a quiet energy about him, a thoughtful stillness. I know him well enough to recognize that he's not brooding—he's planning, calculating the best way forward.
"She's working hard," I say, breaking the silence. "That's good, right? She's putting her heart into this job."
Pete turns, his lips curving into a fond smile. "Yeah, it's good. She's doing what she loves and building something for herself." His voice carries an undertone of pride, making my chest ache in the best way.
I shift on the bed, leaning back against the headboard as I watch him. "I just wish we could be a bigger part of it."
"We will be," Pete replies with quiet confidence. He steps away from the window and sits down beside me, the mattress dipping under his weight. "This is just a stepping stone, Dex. She's figuring out where she belongs, and we're part of that. She'll see it when she's ready."
I let out a breath, some of the tension easing from my shoulders. "You're right. She's worth being patient for."
"She is," Pete responds simply, nodding his head.
The way he says it, so certain and steady, fills me with warmth. He's always been the solid one between us, the one who grounds me when my emotions threaten to run wild.
"We've got this," I say, echoing his optimism. "We just need to keep showing her that we're here for her, no matter what."
Pete nods, his eyes shining with a quiet determination. "Exactly. And in the meantime, we're here, in her city, getting to know her new world. That's something."
"It is," I agree, letting the thought settle over me.
We’ve been texting since our date the other night, and she barely responds. When she does, it’s usually late.
"She's probably holed up somewhere right now, focused on her work. You told me once that she cuts out everything else when she's in the zone."
Pete chuckles, the sound low and warm. "Completely absorbed, forgetting to eat or drink anything but coffee."
"Not anymore," I say with a grin. "We'll work on our girl, get her into healthier habits, and remind her to look after herself better."
"We will," Pete says, his voice softening. "Because that's what we do."
"We take care of her. Of each other."
At my words, Pete steps up to me and pulls me into his embrace.
"Always."
The quiet assurance of his tone is enough to make any lingering worries in my chest loosen their grip. I wrap my arms around him, resting my head on his shoulder. He squeezes me gently, his warmth grounding me.
"She should be here with us," I say after a moment, my voice quieter now.
"She will be," Pete replies, with no hesitation in his voice. "When the time is right. Or even better yet. We'll be there, with her."
I close my eyes, letting the weight of the day slip away as I imagine it. The three of us curled up on the bed, her laughter filling up the room, her warmth chasing away the chill. I can almost feel her head resting on my chest, her hand slipping into Pete's as she teases him about being too serious.
"She'd hate this room," Pete says suddenly, a playful smile tugging at his lips. "Too modern, too stiff. And not enough color. She'd want to add something ridiculous to make it feel more homey."
I laugh, the sound easing the ache in my chest. "Like what?" I ask, playing along.
Pete pretends to think about it for a while before answering. "A neon cactus lamp... or maybe a pillow shaped like a donut."
My laughter rumbles through me at the ridiculous notion, and Pete's fond smile only enhances the feeling of contentment.
"She'd probably drag us all over town looking for just the perfect thing to leave behind too," Pete says, his smile widening. "She has a way of doing that—transforming things, making them brighter... more alive." Pete's gaze softens, his thumb brushing over my back.
"I'm not going to lie. I can't wait to know her as well as you do. Everything you've told me has made me fall in love with this fairytale character, and I want it to be real for me too now." I whisper the words to him, and his arms tighten around me again.
"She's not perfect, though. Definitely not a fairytale character. She can be moody as fuck, and refuses to see her own value." Pete chuckles. "And holy shit, can she be stubborn when she wants to."
I pull from Pete's embrace so I can look him in the eyes. "I know another stubborn mule, but he's still pretty damn close to perfect."
Pete's cheeks redden with a soft blush as his lips quirk. "Who? Me? Never."
We both laugh at that, and I can't help but move closer, kissing his lips. "Yes, wise ass. You," I murmur against his lips after we're both breathless.
"I love you too, Dex," Pete teases before gently biting down on my lip before pulling my waist flush against his.
With the feel of his rapidly hardening cock against mine, I can't help but moan into his mouth before licking at his lips and delving into his mouth to savor his taste.
His hands move from around my waist, down to my ass, clutching my denim-clad cheeks and squeezing them.
"Your hands are making all sorts of promises, baby. Tell me you're intent on delivering, please."
Pete chuckles again before slowly stepping toward the bed, herding me there and then pushing me down onto the soft mattress. He pushes in between my legs, a mouthwatering temptation.
As I watch, he unbuttons his own jeans and slowly pushes it down his lean hips, along with his underwear. His now-hard cock pops out, the head reaching up to his stomach, and my mouth waters at the sight.
"Oh, I plan on a few things, wise ass. First on the list, stuff that cheeky mouth full so you can stop mouthing off."
My erection painfully pushes against my zipper, and a hungry groan slips from my lips as he steps closer to the bed, slowly stroking himself.
"Come on closer, Dex. Come here so I can shut you up." His mouth is pulled up into a smirk, and I'm powerless to resist. I sit up, so he's right in front of me, and grab hold of his naked, firm ass before licking up his stiff cock from base to tip.
"That's it," Pete growls out, his fingers digging into my hair.
With his words of encouragement, I wrap my lips around his head, sucking softly. I love this, tasting Pete like this, and I can't wait to share this with Suzie. Both of us loving on Pete in the way he deserves and then returning the favor to our girl, too.
Pete grows impatient with my soft, gentle sucking, and pushes on my head, forcing more of his length into my mouth. A moan escapes me as he hits the back of my throat.
"Such a naughty boy, teasing me like this," he hisses as his hips thrust into my now eager and waiting mouth.
One of my hands moves to my zipper, quickly undoing it so I can get my painfully hard cock out. As Pete's groans grow louder and his thrusts increase in speed, I wrap my hand around my erection, stroking it at the same speed as my boyfriend's eager face-fucking.
"Shit," he cries out. "I'm going to come, babe. Take it. Take my cum like the good boy you are."
Pete's fingers dig into my hair, holding my head still as he blows, my throat working overtime to swallow all of it down. With a few more pumps, I spill my seed.
I continue to lick and suck at Pete's cock until he's clean, and he pulls out. He bends over, his warm, strong hand cupping my jaw as he kisses me.
"I have to say, I don't mind waiting for our girl if this is how we're going to be doing it."
Pete rests his forehead against mine, his breathing back to normal against my skin. "It won't be long now, babe. Just wait and see. She'll be here, between us, where she belongs, before we know it."
I smile, the warmth in my chest expanding. "I can't wait."
"Me too," Pete says, his voice full of quiet certainty.
He pulls me up and helps me undress before pulling me into bed with him where we curl up against each other. For now, it's enough to know that we're here, together, ready to face whatever comes next.
