Chapter 12
Liam
I woke up to a warm body next to mine. I couldn’t help but admire Margo’s gleaming features before getting up to leave.
I didn’t want our first night to be like that, never imagined that it would’ve ended that way.
Good thing it was the last time it was ever going to happen. I truly hoped that she finds the most amazing sex ever with Benjamin.
Even though I could’ve probably inferred that he was going to be a steady log the entire time. I felt bad for her, in every way possible.
I got up from the bed as she rustled around, her eyes still remained closed as I gathered all of my clothing that was thrown to the floor last night.
I had remembered that I did however rip her whole top apart to admire her amazing body, so I did the gentleman thing and left her my shirt to wear.
Once I got dressed, I checked by phone to see that alarming amount of calls I had received from not only Grayson, but my mother.
The two most meddling people in my entire life.
I take a look back at Margo, wondering if she deserved this treatment from me, and she did. How could someone lie like that?
It hurt me to leave her here all by herself, it hurt to know that she was never really planning on being with me. It tore me apart to know there was another guy in the damn picture.
It hurt to know I was played in broad fucking daylight.
I turned around and resisted the urge to wake her up and take her out for a coffee.
Instead, I took a scan outside for people who were still partying. I check the clock on my phone to notice it was only 3:00 A.M.
My phone began to ring once more, I take a look at the incoming call and see that it was from Grayson. I couldn’t help but roll my eyes before answering.
“Yes, my love?” I flirtatiously muttered as I could hear his rough sigh.
“Are you home right now?” He frantically asked as I paused in confusion.
I leave the noise-filled party and got on my motorcycle to start making my way back to my house.
“I will be in a bit.” I said as I could hear Grayson’s car engine roar through the phone.
“What’s wrong?” I asked before pulling out of Maya’s driveway.
“I just need to be away from my family right now.” Grayson mumbled as I took a small breath, “Okay I’ll meet up at my house in fifteen.”
Grayson never showed anyone his weakside, not even Chris or Neil. I felt we were always that way, we liked to keep our problems to ourselves.
His family was something that he never wanted to talk about. His mother was someone he never spoke about, how he always knew that Sara wasn’t his real mother.
Don’t get me wrong, she was an angel to Grayson in ways that only God himself could’ve sent his way. But there was still a really big line and border when it came to feeling like he was a part of their family.
He was just the half-brother in his eyes.
His mother was the other woman, and he was the child that had to go above and beyond for his father’s approval.
Even if it broke and tore him down every day, he wanted nothing more.
Once in high school, Grayson had broken his arm during his private training for hockey, his father and Sara were present during one of the games. Grayson had to make sure he put a brave face on and play with his absolute hardest.
Only when that last buzzer rang and we won, Grayson had collapsed on the ice. His father just walked out of the arena, embarrassed that his son was such a failure.
Sara was the one that ran on the ice to take care of Grayson. I would never forget the look on Grayson’s face when the color of his skin went pale. The bone in his arm had fractured even more that it tore his skin and was now visible to the naked eye.
He didn’t scream, he never showed signs of pain, but he laid there in Sara’s hands, bleeding out on the arena.
I never remembered much after that day; we never spoke of it again.
I finally had arrived at my house; I spotted Grayson’s car parked in the driveway. He looked dazed and unreachable, before I knocked on his illegally tinted windows.
“Yo Gray!” I banged on his window, “You going to stay there forever, or are you going to get out of the car?” I kept knock on his car as he visibly got more irritated.
“Yeah.” He grumbled while he stepped out of the car.
“You can stay here for as long as you need.” I smiled at him as he just nodded with an out of the world look expression.
He goes on to tell me that he only wished to say in my house for a day or two, which I didn’t really care. My mom had a room just for him made a long time ago.
I looked behind Grayson to see a pack of condoms, “You spend the day with Emma?” I guided him towards my house as he rolled his eyes, “Why would I spend the whole day with Emma?” He sneered.
“Right… I forget you’re a fuck boy.” I mutter as he paused really quickly.
“Says you.”
“You know maybe I thought you were going to settle. She seems really into you.” I made a point as he rummaged through my fridge for a bottle of water.
“A lot of girls are into me.” He scoffed, “What makes this one any different?”
I couldn’t really answer his question since my head had been scrambled from the whole week with Margo.
“No one is the same as August.” He continued on.
I never fucking liked August, I had a bad feeling about her, but I knew I couldn’t tell my best friend that information.
“Has she reached out?” I asked faking my entertainment on the whole August subject.
“No.” He said with a blank expression.
A moment of silence passed.
“But have you…?” I asked slowly as the smile from his face extinguished.
“I’m going to, tomorrow, after the game. I’m going to win her back.” He sounded so happy with himself I could only predict the shit hitting the fan.
“I’ll do whatever I can to get her back.” He continued on.
I smile at my best friend, being supportive was something I could always provide for him.
“I know you guys never really liked her…” He addressed as I thinned my lips.
DING DING DING.
“We don’t like her, she leached onto you because of your money, and she just ended everything for no fucking reason. You ended up in the dump because of that.” I narrowed my eyes at him to show my seriousness.
“She was there for me with my whole family situation.” He countered as I rolled my eyes. He kept going on and on about how much he wanted her back I was starting to gag.
Grayson started to see my very enthused face before he changed the subject, “But enough talk about me, let’s talk about you.”
“What about me?” I couldn’t help but sound fucking nervous.
He narrowed his eyebrows, “Been hanging out with Margo, haven’t you?” He smirked, “Don’t think I haven’t heard.”
It seriously just happened an hour ago, nothing in Hawthorne could stay secret for under an hour.
But with the menaced look on his face, he looked like he was sniffing for trouble, and I didn’t think that I was going to like what was about to come out of his mouth next.
“Keep me and her out of your stupid need for rivalry with Adrianna.” I had made sure to say it in a way he knew I meant what I said.
“I’m serious.” I turned away from him as he looked gob smacked.
“Wait, you don’t actually like her, do you?” He sarcastically asked as I chucked a pillow at his face.
“Maybe I do.” He threw the pillow back.
“You know you can do whatever you want.” He paused, “Or whoever you want… but Adrianna will make Margo end whatever it is you two are doing.”
There was no need for Adrianna to do that. I made sure it was the end tonight.
But why not have some fun for a little and confuse my best friend?
“I know what you’re doing and it’s not going to work.” I grumbled.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Listen.” I made a serious face as his eyes never left mine, “Margo made my fucking summer in Europe unforgettable.” I walked closer.
“We were together the whole fucking time, and it almost felt like maybe we could work as a couple here too. So, you and Adrianna are not messing this up.”
Grayson looked mortified as well as shocked, “You’re joking right?”
My satisfaction of the situation had been reached.
“Of course.” I rolled my eyes, “Besides, you know I hate clingy girls. She was basically, up my ass the whole fucking time. it pissed me off.”
Though it felt like venom that poured out of my mouth when I lied.
“There’s my boy. For a moment there, I thought you were tamed.” Grayson laughed softly, but still had the awkward tension.
He didn’t looked convinced enough, I didn’t even convince myself.
“I think I just stuck around because she’s honestly a good lay. Fucking rocking body. She can take it well.” I blew out a cloud of smoke from his cigarette.
I felt like I had betrayed Margo just by telling Grayson I had slept with her, but it wasn’t my fault. This wasn’t how it was supposed to go.
I took a look at Grayson’s face once more to see if he had believed me now. That Margo was nothing more than just a summer fling.
He laughs, “You’re a dick.”
