Chapter 14

Liam

I had royally fucked up.

Fuck Jackson Gollum and his fake tan. I had a game today and now all I could possibly think about is Margo cheering on a fucking guy that’s second string in football.

I couldn’t even blame her; I couldn’t even be mad at her. It was my fault. I was the one who ruined things and I was the one who chose to fuck it up.

That also doesn’t mean I can’t be pissed about the situation. She looked angelic today, I didn’t even get to tell her. I blocked her number.

I knew I was going to do this; it was the plan. Why the fuck did it hurt so much.

Seeing her face fall, broke my heart more than I ever thought it could. Playing her like this pained me so much I couldn’t go to sleep last night.

But I made my bed. I had to lie in it. Was she ever going to tell me about Ben, now?

Was she ever going to confess that she was actually the one playing me?

That she was the one actually pulling my heart strings?

Was it better to end things on bad terms or good?

At least now she didn’t have to pretend to keep liking me, right? I didn’t have to wait for the shoe to drop, for her to break my heart.

Because I did it first. But was it any better? I heart felt shattered anyways.

What if Margo Hamilton was the one for me and I made a huge mistake.

Was it too late to fix it?

A hockey puck slammed in the board right in front of me as I stayed still.

“Will!” I heard Finn scream from the top of his lungs as I delivered a scowl.

“You know the goal is over there right!” I stood up to meet his eyes from across the rink.

I had to pick up Finn from hockey practice since Chris was working before the game tonight. Finn never made the job easy of course as he repeatedly tried to hit me square to my face with the rubber puck.

“It’s time to go.” I sternly said as his eyes widened and skated over to me immediately.

“Who pissed you off?” He asked as he sat next to me, pulling off his skates.

“Who said someone pissed me off?” I glared as he paused to look into my hardened eyes.

“It’s that pretty blonde girl isn’t it.” He smirked as I let out an irritating sigh.

“Shut up and get your gear off.” I ignored his question as he laughed, “I knew you were going to fumble her. She’s way too pretty for you, and she’s got a killer voice.”

I turned around quickly as Finn’s face turned bright red.

“What do you mean she’s got a killer voice?” I questioned as he laughed awkwardly.

“Oh, nothing I just heard is all.” Finn stood up quickly and tried to run away before I gripped him by his jersey, I pulled him closer to me as he took a large gulp.

“Amelia listens to her songs on Spotify, okay!” He spilled out as my eyes furrowed.

Margo released music?

I couldn’t help but smile at the big accomplishment my girl has made. She was like a singer, not just any singer but like, my singer.

“Wait since when do you talk to Amelia Prince?” I narrowed my eyes at Finn’s face as he gave a long-awaited sigh.

“We’re friends.” He answered as I smirk.

“What type of friends?” I wink as he wiggled his way out of my grasps.

“Leave me alone!” He took his hockey bag and stomped away from me.

But before he slammed the doors, “Then leave my love life alone!” I countered as he turned back and gave me a middle finger.

I quickly pulled my phone out of my pocket a clicked on Spotify, I looked up Margo’s name so quickly I was scared my phone would crash.

And there it was, all her songs. And it looked like she had just released a new one, titled Greece.

I wondered what it could be about. If I’ve lost all contact to Margo and if she refuses to ever talk to me then this could be the only way I would hear from her.

Hear her.

Even if it’s from a distance.

I looked up to hear banging from the door, completely forgetting about Finn.

“Stop thinking about the girl you lost because of your stupidity and take me home.” Finn pointed out as I roll my eyes.

“I wish I could, Kid.” I sigh.

I wish I could.

MARGO

I had shopped all my problems away and bought lingerie for everyone to wear underneath the opposing team’s jerseys.

Was this a ploy to piss off Liam and all his goons. Yes absolutely.

Ever since the embarrassing encounter with Brookshire this morning I had realized that there was no need to be crying over him.

Only to show him what he will be missing out on. Whether that meant flaunting my perfect pilates ass around hungry hungry hockey players who just want one thing.

I had convinced everyone to wear the lingerie I had picked out, even Juliette, which was a miracle might I add.

I had promised Anna that the only reason I was doing this was to make Liam jealous and to get revenge, but it still killed me inside seeing him.

I would never tell her that, however. Adrianna had her own battles to fight, and I could never bring up any of my problems to her.

She was already going through so much.

I’m her best friend, it’s my job to help her carry the world around her shoulders when her spine is splitting.

But what happens when even I can’t take it and I’m breaking too? Who’s going to help her?

I promised her that I would be strong enough for the both of us, so I will.

Now, I’m not really a sports type of girl, unlike Juliette but I do know that the events of tonight were definitely out of the ordinary. Grayson had shattered the glass boards around Darius Sawyer.

Thankfully there were no casualties, but the fury on his face when he saw Adrianna wearing Sawyer’s jersey was priceless. Liam’s eyes darkened every time his eyes landed on me.

I wish I could say that it didn’t give me everything I needed but it definitely did.

The minute the game ended, the two teams basically swarmed at each other.

Colton however made his way over to me, he pulled off his helmet and smiled at me, “I couldn’t help but see that you have my jersey on.” He bent down and whispered in my ear.

“Indeed, I do.” I remarked as he shook his head, urging over to Liam who glowered over on the other side of the rink.

“Does your boyfriend know that?” He asked as I rolled my eyes in disgust.

“He is certainly not my boyfriend. He made sure of that.” I proclaimed as Colton nodded.

“So, what’s the goal? You trying to make him jealous?” He snuck a look over to Liam who was continuously brooding.

My lips thinned out, “Is it bad if I say yes.” I confessed as he laughs softly.

“Hey Hamilton, I’d do anything to get a rise out of Brookshire. All you had to do was ask.” He moved closer to me, and I found myself not pulling back.

“What are you doing?” I whispered as he smirked, “Don’t worry darling, consider this a favor to be owed.”

Before I could ask him about what he meant, Liam came stomping over at us with nothing but fury in his eyes.

“Any chance why you aren’t on your side of the arena, Colton?” Liam seethed as I took a step back from the fire being fueled.

“Yeah, I came because Margo called me over, she and I have some unfinished business.” Colton fired back as Liam turned his head to meet my gaze.

One more word out of Colton’s mouth I already saw Liam’s fist forming and ready to punch the moment Colton provoked him.

“That’s enough.” Grayson walked in between the both of them. However, his gaze only remained on Adrianna’s.

Colton steps in front of me, “We are having a party tonight at a bar or club. You guys can come.” He looks around, “Your hockey team can come too.” His eyes met Liam’s.

“I would love to end this feud.” He spit out like it was venom.

“Fuck you.” Liam gritted out.

The look in Colton’s eyes looked deadly like he absolutely wanted to start something again.

Liam’s face grew more irritated and upset, which only fueled my happiness even more.

“Unless you guys are too whipped by your captain that he won’t let you party.”

He knew what he was doing. What a smart guy honestly. I looked at Liam’s tortured face as I pushed my body closer to Colton.

This was going to be fun.

Let’s party.
