Chapter 20
T hankfully, it was after he and Tuck had fucked Kylie into unconsciousness that someone knocked on the door to announce they were needed for church in fifteen minutes. Now that the PFMC was no more, the last thing Darren wanted to do was leave Kylie’s side. He would love nothing more than to stay right here in this bed and go another couple of rounds with her. Not because he needed to, but because he wanted to. Nothing made him happier than seeing his woman find her pleasure. He would have preferred they were at their own house so they could remain naked the rest of the day without anyone interrupting them.
“Fuck. I guess Race is going to finally give us the details on this Tinker fella.” Tuck rolled off his side of the bed and started for the bathroom. “You wanna tell her we’re leaving so she doesn’t wake up wondering where we went?”
“Yeah. I don’t want her to freak out if she wakes up alone.” Darren ran a finger along the side of her face, along her jawline and ending with his thumb over her soft lips. He dipped his head and dropped a soft kiss on her lips. When she didn’t immediately wake up, he gently shook her shoulder. “Kylie. Baby, I need you to open your eyes.”
Kylie rolled into him and whined her displeasure at having be woken up. “Sleep. I need sleep.”
“I know, honey. I just wanted to tell you Tuck and I are being called into church. We didn’t want you to worry if you woke up and we were gone.” One side of his mouth kicked up when she pouted with her eyes closed. “Did you hear me?”
“Yes. I heard you.” She snuggled closer, wrapping one arm around his middle and throwing a leg over his hip, trying to keep him in bed.
Goddamn, the woman was a temptation. It would be so easy to slide his cock inside her welcoming heat once again and ignore Race’s summons. He could plead his case and tell him the drug was riding him hard and he needed to be with Kylie a little longer. But he wouldn’t. He needed to know everything he could about the returning brother. Something told him the guy was bad news.
“Baby, you gotta let go of me.” He chuckled and tried to pry her arm loose. “I have to get to the meeting.”
“No. Stay with me.” Her eyes opened halfway.
“I promise that as soon as the meeting is over, Tuck and I will take you home and fuck you until you pass out again. How does that sound?”
“Mmmm. Sounds so good.”
“The sooner you let him go, the sooner we can take you home, Kylie Jo.” Tucker, now fully dressed, climbed back onto the bed and gently coaxed her to face toward him. Darren took the opportunity to use the bathroom and get dressed while Tuck kissed her.
He finished putting his boots on then went back and kissed her goodbye. It was so damn hard to walk away when she was naked and in their bed. “Kylie, we’re locking the door behind us so you can sleep some more.”
“Okay. Thank you.” She pulled Tuck’s pillow into her chest and rolled to her side. They were almost out the door when she said, “Hurry back.”
Tuck locked the door and pulled it closed behind him. Together they headed for church.
Entering the room they used for church, Darren was happy to see Jackson and Trick already seated at the table.
“When did you guys get back?” He pulled out his chair and took a seat. Tuck dropped into the one on his left.
“Fifteen minutes ago,” Trick answered.
“Not like you would have heard us with whatever you were doing in your room.” Jackson’s wide smile said he knew exactly what they’d been doing in there.
Trick continued as if Jackson hadn’t interrupted him. “Anyway, took a piss and was going for a cold one when Race told everyone to head this way.”
“When the hell did Tinker get here?” Jackson’s smile turned into a deep frown.
“You know that asshole?” Darren asked.
“Yeah. He was one of the founding brothers and a complete dick. Growing up in the club, I’ve been around him enough to know he’s nothing but trouble.”
Damn. Jackson just confirmed his impression of the man.
Jed and Tulsa came in next, dropping into their seats. Followed right behind them was Dagger, Lance and Chris. The latter asked, “Who’s the old guy out there?” Before anyone could say anything, Race entered with Tinker in tow.
Tinker stopped at the opposite end of the table from Race, scratching his head, pretending to be confused. “Not sure where I’m supposed to park my ass.”
Race pointed to an empty chair at the opposite end of the table. “There’s an open seat over there.” Darren bet it chapped his ass to be put in the open seat next to the newest patched brothers.
Race waited for Tinker to take his seat then went around the table introducing each of the brothers to put a name to each face. “For those of you who came after Tinker, he was one of our founding brothers and was VP before Dagger. I hope everyone can make him feel welcome.”
No one asked where he’d been because as a prospect everyone had to learn the history of the club. Part of that history included knowing who the founding brothers were, what position they held in the club, and some of the major plays made by the club. That last fateful drug deal gone bad was common knowledge.
Tinker leaned forward to better see down the table. “So, you two, uh, Darren and Tuck, right? You’re the ones with Kylie? Which one of you knocked the bitch up? Or do you even know?”
Jackson pinned both Darren and Tuck with an “I told you so” look before Tuck leaned forward to respond. “That would be me and Kylie is our old lady so we’d appreciate a little respect when you talk about her.”
Darren’s teeth and fists clenched. He was seconds away from teaching the old fucker some manners. No one disrespected Kylie and they sure as hell didn’t do it to their faces.
Tinker held his hands up, quickly apologizing. “Sorry. Sorry. Didn’t mean to offend.”
That was bullshit. That was exactly what he intended to do.What Darren didn’t understand was what did he hope to gain by pissing off two of the brothers, one of which, meaning himself, was a big guy and could pound his ass into the floor and not break a sweat?
Normally, if a brother had been away in prison, his welcome home would include a party, women and an all around celebration that their brother was back in the fold. Darren didn’t see that happening with this guy. But, he could be wrong. Race might plan a party to try and keep the peace.
Maverick got up and passed out shot glasses, then a bottle of tequila was slid from one person to the next around the table so everyone would have something to drink when Race made a toast. He held his glass high and said, “Welcome home, Tinker.”
Everyone raised their glass, echoing Race’s sentiment. If the welcome seemed a little lackluster, Tinker didn’t comment on it.
“Race, you remember that sweet, big tit redheaded whore that used to be here ten or fifteen years ago? She still around? She gave the best damn head I’ve ever had. You remember her name?” Then with a nasty glint in his eye, he asked, “You remember her name, don’t you, Mav? She was the one you were partial to. You used to like to take her to your room,” he was cut off by Race.
“That’s enough, Tink.”
Darren didn’t get it. Was the asshole purposely trying to provoke someone into kicking his ass? Everything that came out of his mouth was vile and geared to piss someone off.
Tinker’s eyes rounded, fake shock and regret on his face. Like he’d accidentally slipped up in front Jackson. “Oh, sorry. I forgot that one was your son. My bad.” His laugh undermined his apology. “What happened to the good ole days when brothers gave brothers shit and didn’t have to worry about hurting someone’s feelings?”
“Tink.” Race’s growl was his warning.
“Okay. Can’t talk about the past. Can’t talk about anyone’s preference in whores. Can I ask what the Sons do for money these days? We still into guns and drugs?”
“No. We got out of drugs and guns. Most of us wanted to stay alive and out of prison.” He gave Tink a pointed stare. “We now own a business called Weed Eaters. We have two stores. Marijuana is legal in Colorado and we sell a variety of flavors in a variety of forms.”
“No shit?”
Everyone at the table noted how Race deliberately left out the other businesses, Bottom’s Up and Ink Envy. That right there was telling.
“Who was that pretty blonde woman I saw in the kitchen earlier? She had green eyes and a cute little mole at the corner of her upper lip? She was tall and built like a stripper.”
“That would be Sadie and she’s off limits,” Dagger jumped in. “She’s under the Sons’ protection, so don’t go there.”
Jed tensed and a muscle jumped in his jaw when Tinker brought up Sadie. Tinker tried to hide his reaction to the way Dagger spoke to him, but Darren hadn’t missed it. The man was good at hiding things and deflecting, but that one slipped through. He’d also noticed the angry way he stared at Jed when he thought no one was looking.
“Okay, just so I have this straight. No fucking Sadie and no fucking old ladies.”
“That’s it.” Jackson shot to his feet. “I don’t care who you used to be, you will not disrespect our old ladies. And if you come anywhere near mine, I won’t be responsible for what happens.” Maverick, Dagger and Jed had all followed Jackson to their feet.
Race slowly stood. If he could gut the man with just his glare, Tinker would be dead. “Maybe you should go find a bed now and sleep off some of that booze? It’s been a while since you’ve had a drink, so you might not be able to hold your liquor like you used to.”
Darren wasn’t sure how much Tinker had had to drink, but his semi-glassy eyes indicated he’d had more than a few before coming into church.
It was probably a good thing that Race cut off Tinker’s rant when he did. Jackson was about five seconds away from flying across the table and ripping the old guy a new one. It was bad enough when he’d brought up Maverick’s past in front of Jackson, but this was going too far. He was aware that his dad had a fondness for whores a long time ago and had cheated on his mom. It had been a sore spot between the two of them for years. It had only been since the birth of his son, Ryker, that things had started really getting better between them. That and Jane having kicked his ass out until he got his shit straight.
“Sure. Maybe you’re right. I could use a shower. If you could point me in the direction of a room, I think I’ll go lie down for a bit.” He stood from the table. “Maybe when I wake up, the whores will be back.”
“One thing you should know before you go. Sweet butts only fuck who they want to fuck. It’s not mandatory for protection from the club.” Race made sure Tinker was aware of how things were done around here now.
A muscle ticked in Tinker’s jaw. It was minute, but again, Darren had been watching him closely. He dipped his head and forced a smile. “Sure, prez.”
“Dagger, can you set Tink up with a room?”
“Sure.” Dagger waved for Tinker to follow him and left the room.
After the door closed, Jackson, Maverick and Jed all took their seats. Race waited for everyone to get settled before he said, “Tink’s not known to be a team player. He’s always been out for himself and he lives for stirring up shit. Everyone needs to be on their toes. I don’t want him knowing about any other business for now. I don’t trust him as far as I can throw him. Make sure you let Cutter and Miles know not to talk about them in front of him, either.”
“How long do we have to put up with his shit before we can ban him from the club?” Jackson wanted to know.
“If it wasn’t for the fact that he was one of the founding members, I’d have run him off as soon as he walked through the door. Technically, he said he didn’t want anything to do with the club once he went to prison. Said none of us were his brothers because a true brother wouldn’t have left his ass to get caught. Truth of the matter was Jed was a newly patched brother and was left with a difficult decision. Both Dagger and Tinker had been shot and he could only get to one before the police got there. Dagger had the more severe injury and he also happened to be closer.” He turned to Jed. “That’s an ax he’s been grinding for a long time. He’s going to come at you because he wants payback. So watch your back.
“I can almost guarantee he’s going to come at the rest of you by trying to divide you and make you doubt each other. Don’t let him get in your heads. You’ve seen exactly how he works by the way he tried to pit Jackson against Maverick just now. It won’t work.” He made eye contact with each of them. “Hear me?”
“Yeah. I hear you.” Jackson realized Race was making it known that of the two, he was the weaker link.
“As for how long he’ll be here? I’m going to give him three strikes. He fucks up or goes against the rules three times, he’s out. And I highly doubt it will take all that long.” He paused then asked if there were any questions. When none were put forth, he turned everyone loose.
As far as Darren was concerned, he wasn’t going to give Tinker another thought for the rest of the night. Right now, he and Tuck were going to load Kylie up and take her home. They had a promise to keep and it started with their bed, getting naked and working on making her pass out again.
And if Tinker got anywhere near their woman, he’d live to regret it.
