Chapter 33

CHAPTER 33

Y ou’re a Madman

Dez

Two weeks later …

“No, please. No more. Make it stop.”

“Silence,” I demand as I grin down at my victim.

“Please, I don’t deserve this.”

“You deserve this and so much more for what you have cost me. Making promises you can’t keep is a character flaw,” I croon.

I’m growing tired of this. I’ve been here for hours now after murdering his staff and security. Reaching into my suit jacket, I pull out the silencer and screw it on the end of my gun as he begins to sob harder.

“Wh … why are you doing this?” he sobs.

I grin down at him. “You want to know why? I will tell you why.

“Four years ago, I had been in a rush to rise to power. My older brother was in the way, so I removed him. He was going to destroy our family.

“I knew from the moment he began to talk about joining that fucking Alliance that he had no backbone and he would ruin everything. So I killed him.”

This prick begins to whimper at my confession. I ignore his cowardly response and continue with my explanation.

“I was to be his second-in-command. The throwaway son. The just in case. Well, I made just in case happen.

“The problem is, I didn’t know my grandfather would place all these stipulations on my rise to the position my brother was just going to be handed. If you ask me, he’s only doing this because he believes in what those fucks are trying to do.

“I won’t allow it. Not in my family. That’s why I wanted to complete this union back when the Alliance started to gain traction.”

I pause to think of all they have done and how at one point I thought they would be successful. Oh, how things can change in the blink of an eye. Just like our arrangement has.

Seething, I continue with my words to this asshole. “However, Amina was bought some time. The plans LaSalle Locatelli and Logan O’Brien have been making have hit a few walls and from what my connections have shared, this is only the beginning. Not everyone is on board the way they thought they would be.

“It will take them years to get the support needed for their plan. Years I plan to take advantage of. Not rushing things has earned me more trust from my grandfather as I play his little lamb.

“He has no idea of the wolf I’ve been hiding right in front of his face. I gave my little dove the time she needed to mature into the Princesa I need her to be. Maribel is a beautiful young woman.

“She’s feisty too. I like that about her. Sure, I could have declined the arranged marriage that was made while I was a mere boy. However, you have reaped your reward, so why shouldn’t you deliver my bride?” I snarl.

I look at this sniveling piece of shit before me as he’s tied to his bed, whimpering for his life. His blood stains the sheets from the torture I’ve already put him through. Not because I need information out of him, but because I’m pissed.

“You act as if I haven’t spent a fortune on the engagement party for you two instead of throwing her a graduation party. She will be home soon. You will have your bride. I still don’t get why you’re doing this,” he cries.

“Didn’t I tell you to shut the fuck up? You could have prevented this had you delivered my sweet girl to me before she spread her fucking legs for some country-ass white boy. Now she’s nothing more than a whore.

“Do I look like I want to take a whore as my wife? Do I?” I bellow.

“My daughter is not a whore. How would you know this anyway? She’s been in Texas working on her degree.

“She’s always busy with school. She hasn’t dated the entire time she’s been away. I have asked. Her cousin has confirmed this,” he shouts back defensively.

“Well, that’s the difference between the two of us. I don’t trust my information to come from unreliable sources. I never trusted my young fiancée away from me where she could run free and do anything she pleased.

“From the time I agree to allow her the four years away, I had eyes on her. The white boy has been around the entire time, but I never thought she would spread her legs for him. I should have killed him a long time ago.

“I thought of doing so multiple times.” I shrug. “I’m still considering it. The only reason he’s still alive is because I believe he will be my leverage to get your daughter to do as I say.”

“What?”

“Oh, you didn’t think I was counting on you to keep her in line, did you?”

I release a deep laugh. This is humorous. If delusional was a person, it would be him.

“Your daughter hates you for this. You missed out on her entire life and then when she got to know and trust you, you handed her over to me. You are as useful to me as an ass with no hole.”

“What have I done to my little girl? You’re a madman.”

“You know, I hate when people call me that. You weren’t worried about your little girl when my family had something you wanted. You didn’t think of what kind of man I would be when you promised your daughter’s hand so you could run a multimillion-dollar empire.

“Where was your concern for your daughter when you accepted my grandfather’s offer to get you out of the ghetto and make you the man who lives in this mansion? Were you thinking of her then? Were you?” I bark.

“No and I’ve regretted it ever since. I should have walked away like her mother told me to.”

I lift my gun and point at his head. “Yes, you should have.”

My bat cracks against the pitch Cal just threw. The sound echoes through the night, bringing a smile to my face. I’ve been smiling a lot since Amina and I have been together.

Sex with her is amazing. That first night, we fucked for hours. It’s been the same every night I’ve spent at her place since. Just thinking about her is enough for me to still feel the tight grip of her pussy around me.

“Good shit, Perry. That’s the tenth home run in a row. You do that in the next few games, and we’ll be unstoppable,” Ricki, another senior, says.

“I hope so, bro,” I croon.

“You’re on fire. You have to tell me your secret,” Josh, another of my teammates, says.

Cal and I have been out here on the field with a few of our teammates, tossing balls and hitting. I feel invincible. This is a high like none other. I could hit like this all night.

However, the guys are starting to grumble about needing to eat and wanting to call it quits. I start to unfasten my gloves as I walk over to my bag. I have a grin on my face as I roll my shoulders and crack my neck.

I pull my phone from my bag and go through my messages. I have a few from my mama, which I ignore. It’s the messages from Amina that I open right away.

My smile grows as I read the texts she has sent. Man, if we had started things three years ago, I would have been obsessed with her. I’m already finding it hard keeping our secret arrangement.

I saw her on campus earlier and almost walked right up to her to take her lips in front of everyone. Instead, I kept my distance and winked at her.

I reply to her texts and let her know I’ll be there after I stop to get a bite to eat with the guys. A part of me wants to bail on them and head to her place now. However, if I do, I know there will be questions I can’t answer.

Feeling like someone’s watching me, I lift my head and look around. I pause and squint my eyes as a guy outside the fence catches my attention. He’s looking right at me.

He doesn’t look familiar. I’m sure I don’t know him from anywhere and yet his attention seems locked on me. I glance around quickly for Cal to make sure he’s all right.

When I turn my focus back in the direction of the guy, he’s gone. I shake my head and shrug it off. People come out to watch us practice or when we’re just fucking around all the time.

“You good, man?” Ricki asks.

“Yeah, I’m fine.”

“You mind if I ride with you and Caleb?” Hamilton asks as he comes and claps me on the back.

“No problem. Let’s go,” I say to him and nod to Cal as he grabs his bag.
