The War of Two Kings

Hilithia was once a place of peace. The Sun Goddesses and Moon Gods created the world as one. The start of creation began with their descendants, two brothers formed directly from the Suns and Moons.

The two Suns formed King Elion first and gifted him Viven—a kingdom known for warmth and sunshine and the start of creation—life.

The Suns created people for Elion to rule over, half the precision as Elion was made, but just as beloved in abundance.

They were called Wielders, and while they didn’t possess the same immortality as Elion, they lived long lives and were each gifted a unique magical Token, blessed to them before their Staying Age by one of the two Suns—Nessium or Cupio.

The Moons created King Dahes next and gifted him Moriann—a kingdom born in the dark fog known for rest and peace.

It was the kingdom of death, a place of solace for Wielders to retire after taking their final breath.

But the six Moons were worried Dahes would get lonely, waiting for Wielders to die, so they created creatures for Dahes to rule over.

Now, monsters and beasts lurk within the darkness to keep Dahes company, but the drakins—dragons and their riders—were his favorite.

Power and greed corrupted the brothers. Envy and jealousy made the kings want what the other had, creating a lifelong feud, wreaking havoc on the world with Wielders and drakins paying the price.

The Gods and Goddesses tried to intervene slowly, creating a neutral territory as a buffer—the Islands of Perinth.

But there was too much destruction and death, and the islands weren’t enough.

Eventually, the two Suns stopped blessing Wielders with magic.

Tokens ceased to exist, creating the start of commoners.

Without a Token, their thousand-year lifespan shortened to a century, overpowering Dahes’ resting place for the dead and tipping the scales of balance, forcing the Gods and Goddesses to intervene again. Only this time, they didn’t hold back.

They forged peace, stopping the War of Two Kings to salvage what was left of their world.

As consequence, neither brother could kill the other, neither could be overpowered.

For punishment, they were forced to give a fraction of what they each coveted—King Elion gave Dahes a Token for himself, while the Dead King was forced to hand over his beloved creatures—the drakins.

The Suns started gifting Tokens again, but more sporadically. Now, Hilithia was a mix of commoners, Wielders, and drakins—the world still split in two, forming a clear divide from the lingering effects of the war.

Those born in Viven are bound by the laws—defiance resulting in a one-way exile into Moriann.

And there are no rules in the Dead Kingdom, only survival.
