“ I can’t believe this nigga, Cali!” I shouted, but not too loud since she had just put the twins to bed.

“Jai, calm down, boo! But I told you something wasn’t right with that nigga! If I had a sitter for the twins, we’d go and ride up on that nigga and that bitch! Then again, nah, we ain’t doing none of that. This is what we’re gonna do. Well, I’ma do this too when I leave Jayceon’s ass!”

Cali pulled out her phone and played “Big Mood” by Bri Trilla.

“Ayeeeeeeee!” I squealed as Cali rapped along to the lyrics. I couldn’t lie; that one song perked my spirits up a little.

“Yes, boo! One monkey does not stop no show around here, and we definitely ain’t about to be sitting around crying over no niggas… cheap and broke ones at that! Hit that nigga where it hurts!”

“By doing what, Cali?”

“Fuckin’ another nigga! Whether you’re thinking about going back to Leek or not! You see, Jai, men can’t take what they dish out. They can go around fuckin’ twenty bitches, not realizing a woman can shut their whole respiratory system down by fuckin’ one nigga. Of course, it gotta be with a nigga doing better than their ass, and lucky for you, you have Savvy , who is on a way different and bigger level than Leek. If I were you, I’d call him, sis. As if he’s not waiting for your call.”

I thought about what Cali said. I didn’t believe in cheating, sleeping with two men at the same time, and definitely not being someone’s side chick. However, Maleek had fucked up royally. To find out he had cheated on me only had me thinking about if he still was and how many more women I didn’t know about.

“You know what… you’re right! I’m about to text him!”

“You do that, and if y’all do go somewhere or even end up having sex, enjoy the fuck out of yourself and that dick, and don’t feel bad about it! Trust me, if there’s one chick, there’s another one somewhere lurking around. She just hasn’t come forward yet.”

I nodded, then picked up my phone and sent Savvy a text asking if he could meet me at Cali’s. Savvy responded immediately, letting me know he was on the way. Sensing that something was wrong, he also asked if everything was okay. When I told him I needed to get away for a while, he didn’t hesitate to say okay. He even said we could go wherever I wanted.

That was the type of man I needed in my life―one who would make it less stressful. Although I hadn’t known Savvy for too long, he was doing all the right things to win me over, and it had nothing to do with money. But after that night, I knew if, for some reason, Maleek and I still stayed together, things would never be the same between us, especially the love.

“Does she have a curfew tonight?” Savvy jokingly asked Cali as we stood on her doorstep.

“Oh, no! Her spell has broken! She’s all yours for as long as you want her! Now, Jai, try to enjoy yourself tonight with whatever you do, and pleeeeeeeease don’t worry about that nigga.” Cali rolled her eyes. “As a matter of fact, Savvy, make sure that Leek’s ass is the last person on her mind tonight.”

Savvy licked his lips while eyeing me sexily.

“Oh, that nigga will be the least of both of y’all worries tonight and moving forward.”

“That’s what I like to hear. Well, alright, boo! Call me later… or tomorrow.” Cali hinted mischievously. “But I love you,” she finished with a hug.

“I love you too, and I will.”

As Savvy and I were walking to our cars, Cali shouted, “Oh, Savvy, one more thing! Make sure you give her the best dick of her liiiiiiiiiiiiife,” and then she quickly shut the door.

“That girl!” I chuckled, shaking my head.

“That’s your cousin,” Savvy commented, laughing.

“Yes, she is. So, how do you want to do this? I mean, car-wise! I don’t mean we do it in the car! Ugh!”

Savvy chuckled. “Jai, I get it. We’re going to my crib, but first, I want to take you somewhere… on a date, to better put it.”

I smiled. “Another date… okay.”

“Yeah, but this one will be in public. You look too good tonight to let all this beauty,” he waved his hands over my dress, which hugged my curves perfectly, “go to waste.”

I nodded, feeling a flutter of excitement. Just as I was about to slide into my car, Savvy added with a mischievous smile, “Oh, and Jai, turn off your phone. You don’t need any distractions tonight, and don’t worry—we’re definitely going to test out that car sex idea one day.” He winked, his eyes twinkling with anticipation.

I couldn’t help but beam at him and the thought as I climbed into my car, bracing myself for what I was sure to be an unforgettable night ahead.
