Ironman (The Marauders MC #5)
Chapter One
Bullets flew from both sides as men on the roof and from inside the clubhouse shot back at them from the cover of the woods.
Titus was looking through his scope when he noticed Crank’s two brothers, Bredan and Lorance had kept back but they still shot at the clubhouse.
Titus had to duck to avoid a fresh round of bullets aimed his way, but he kept his eyes on Crank’s brothers.
Suddenly, he caught sight of Lily as she darted between the trees to get into a better position.
Eduardo, Riccardo and the cousins all moved closer.
Canto had his back to the wide tree giving him cover. He was reloading his gun when he saw Lily as she seemed to be backing away from the firefight. He paused as he stared at her then peeked around the tree to see his father’s and his uncle’s back.
Now Lily caught sight of him. She didn’t raise her gun in his direction but instead she just stared at him. Finally, she stepped back again and continued to move away from the scene of the fight.
Bredan and Lorance saw her as well. They could clearly see she was leaving rather than getting into position. Bredan tapped Lorance’s with the end of his gun and motioned for him to follow. They had decided if she was leaving, they would too.
Titus saw all of this and wondered what the hell they were up to.
The Sanchez family as in Eduardo and Riccardo along with their men kept moving in closer, hoping to kill a few of the bikers. They never thought they were in danger themselves but soon they were screaming and dropping as the bullets from the Marauders showed them they weren’t bulletproof.
When Eduardo caught a bullet in the chest, he dropped slowly.
Riccardo screamed as he stepped out of the shadows and he caught three rounds in the chest. Then two more stepped out to try and catch one of the bikers but they both took bullets to their legs.
They fell to the ground and managed a few more shots before one of them was shot in the head.
The other three guys stopped shooting and began looking around for Eduardo’s kids.
When they couldn’t find either Lily or Canto, they began screaming and cursing in Spanish.
That was when they saw Bredan and Lorance running away from the fight.
One of Riccardo’s boys began firing again but this time he was shooting at Bredan and Lorance.
Lorance stumbled and fell to the ground but Bredan screamed at his brother to get up. Lorance got up and began to run again but he’d been hit.
After witnessing all of this, Riccardo’s three sons called out that they would surrender. They threw out their weapons, held their arms up and stepped out into the open. Eduardo’s nephew tossed his weapon out as well and all the four men stood there... unarmed.
The men on the roof all came to stand at the edge as they were all aiming their rifles at the men who gave up.
The front doors opened as Boomer, Bouncer and Crank all stepped out while armed as well. They moved to the front gate and when it opened they all went to where the surrendering group stood.
“Onto your knees!” Boomer yelled.
“Hands behind your heads,” Bouncer added in a loud voice as well.
More Marauders came forward and ziptied the men on their knees.
Rifle in hand, Crank covered the men standing there while more men came out, checking around where Eduardo and Riccardo were downed.
Riccardo was breathing hard and they could see he was almost dead.
Boomer grabbed his rifle up and shook his head. Then he checked Eduardo and found the man glaring at him.
He too was still alive but barely. He was bleeding from several places in his chest. Eduardo tried to speak but it took two tries to get his voice back, “You may have killed some of us but you will never kill us all. My daughter and son will be back and my nephews will kill you in your sleep. Where is my son, Ricco? I came here to get his blood. He committed the ultimate sin by killing his brother. He took my firstborn son from me and I will send him to hell myself.”
Bouncer shook his head and replied, “Hate to disappoint you but Ricco took the coward’s way out. But he’s waiting for you in hell, along with Gabreil. You won’t be without them for long.”
Eduardo snarled as blood dribbled down from the corner of his mouth. “My family will avenge my death, I swear.” He began to choke and more blood flew from his mouth then there was silence when his labored breathing finally stopped.
Riccardo screamed out his name and tried to reach for his brother but he froze for a few seconds then he collapsed and his breathing stopped as well.
Boomer slowly shook his head. Then he made the sign of the cross and stepped away from the brothers. He and his brother, Bouncer both walked toward the other four Sanchez boys.
Bouncer paused and looked down at them, on their knees while tied up. He asked them, “Was it really worth it? Coming here?”
One of the nephews growled his reply, “It might have ended differently if Eduardo’s children had stayed. Then we had two more that abandoned us, but not to worry, we’ll find all four and settle this our way.”
Boomer shook his head and enlightened them, “Not here, you won’t. You and yours have a lot to answer for in the eyes of the law.”
Titus nodded in agreement as he raised his hand and motioned around the area.
“And we got all of this on tape. The Sheriff can’t get here at the moment.
So, for now, until the threat is over, you’ll have to be housed in our cells.
” He looked up at Ridge and Guardian. “Gather some men and take these bozos to the cells. Make sure you get all their weapons. Then we still got four others roaming this mountain and we have to find them.”
Guardian nodded at two of the men. They then grabbed two of the Sanchez group men and pushed them toward the clubhouse. Ridge and Hot Rod pushed at the other two.
Titus followed them with his rifle still on them.
Boomer just looked around the woods then he turned his head toward his brother. “What do you want to do about the ones that got away?”
Bouncer looked around as well. “Ironman and Ulysses can track them. They can take a couple of the guys along. But the rest of us will watch very carefully to make sure no one else joins the fray. I don’t trust that this is really over.
Crank’s brothers are out there and I don’t trust them, not even a little bit. They are Todd’s sons.”
Boomer nodded. “True enough. Maybe Trudy has more of what Todd was really doing back home.”
Bouncer shook his head and added, “I still can’t believe Todd put Crank’s name on one of his illegal clubs, that’s insane.”
Boomer nodded. “Insane? Maybe, but ole Todd knew what he needed to do. Even if Crank denied it, he could still link his son to his empire.” Then he grinned.
“Too bad Crank turned that around on his daddy and he got the Marshal’s inside the back door.
That helped Crank too. Then Trudy brought up the forgery and that helped Crank prove he had nothing to do with the club. ”
Bouncer nodded. “True enough and that was the start of good ole Todd’s decline. Too bad Ricco shot him full of holes for sleeping with his wife. Personally, I would have liked to have seen ole Todd standing in front of a judge in an orange jumpsuit.”
Boomer shrugged. “Yeah, that would have been worth the admission, but that was also the start of bringing the whole Sanchez family down too.” He looked out into the distance.
“But we still have to worry about Lily. It figures she started this shootout then left the family behind to take the bullets. It must be their family trait to look out for only yourself.”
“She literally walked away when the shooting started,” Bouncer exclaimed. “Like what kind of chickenshit crap is that? But even she has to know she doesn’t have any backup left. I have a feeling that her family will never forgive her for that little stunt.”
Boomer just shook his head sadly. “Yeah, family means something to most people but that family doesn’t mean a thing to anyone but themselves.
They just take and take, thinking everyone else doesn’t matter.
But life isn’t like that. And they learned that lesson the hard way today.
They lived by violence and they died by violence.
Was it really worth it? I don’t think so. ”
“Me either but this is something we have to finish.” Bouncer sighed hard. “We didn’t want this war but we will end it. I won’t be looking over my shoulder every day, looking for a bullet.”
“Me either brother, that ain’t no kind of life to live.” Boomer sighed. “My mountain finally settled down into peace and it has been bliss. Yours will too.”
They both stepped around the blood puddles to head back to the clubhouse.
