Two Months Later
“ H oly shit!” I yelled, my heart pounding and my hands trembling.
“Luz, are you okay?” Elise called out. The sound of her footsteps racing down the hall got louder as she got closer.
She burst into the bathroom, making me jump. “Fuck,” I cursed.
“What’s wrong?” Her eyes were wide and frantic as she searched the room.
I glanced up at her, still processing the shock. I held up the pregnancy test. “I’m pregnant.”
Her jaw dropped. “What?”
I looked back down at the test in my hand. “I can’t believe I’m pregnant.”
“Well, you only used a condom once and had a lot of sex that week,” Elise pointed out, fighting a smile.
“I know how it works, thank you very much,” I retorted with a scoff. “But Jameson said he pulled out the other times.”
Elise laughed. “Sometimes when you’re caught up in the moment, you forget. Just like you forgot to use condoms all those times.”
I rolled my eyes. “We use condoms now.”
“Well, looks like you don’t need to anymore.”
The shock was wearing off, and fear was starting to take hold. “How do you think Jameson will react?”
She shrugged. “He’s a pretty chill guy. But most bikers don’t like to be tied down, so I don’t know.”
We’d been doing the long-distance thing for about two months, and although it wasn’t ideal, it was better than nothing. We’d drove the nine-hour drive one time, then decided it was better to take turns flying to see each other. It actually ended up being cheaper since we didn’t have to pay for gas and hotel every weekend.
“We can’t raise a baby like this,” I stated. “One of us has to move.”
“Well, I doubt he’ll move here. He has to be near the club,” Elise replied.
“Ugh,” I groaned, running my hands over my face. “Stupid biker rules.”
I wasn’t in love with Seattle. I liked it, but I missed the sunny, warm weather of Miami. I had a job at a small bookstore, but nothing that I couldn’t leave. Moving to Laughlin wouldn’t be the worst thing except for leaving Elise.
And being closer to my dad.
Whatever Jameson’s dad had done had gotten the cartel off their backs. And they hadn’t found me yet either.
I still lived with the fear that my dad would find me one day. I wasn’t sure if he was still looking, but if I lived with Jameson, I knew he and the Forsaken would protect me.
And my baby.
Elise rubbed my back. “What are you going to do?”
I shook my head, eyes stinging from the swell of emotion. “I don’t know. I want Jameson involved in our baby’s life.” Placing my hand on my belly, I looked down at it. “I don’t care where we live as long as we’re together.”
“Maybe you should talk to him first,” Elise suggested. “You never know, he could go nomad.”
“That’s even worse. He’d be on the road all the time bouncing between clubs. Plus, I don’t want him to leave his family.”
“Yeah. Well, either way, you have to talk to him about it.”
I sighed. “I know. I’m seeing him tomorrow. I don’t want to tell him over the phone.”
“I’m so glad his asshole brother didn’t knock me up. I can’t believe I followed your advice better than you did,” Elise teased, crossing her arms over her chest.
I rolled my eyes. “Yeah, well, you’re going to be seeing a lot of him when the baby comes. He will be their uncle, after all.”
“Ugh,” she groaned, grimacing. “He was amazing in bed, but I can’t get over the fact that he drugged us.”
I smacked my tongue. “Yeah, that sucked.” Looking down at my stomach again, I smiled. “At least something good came out of it though.”
It was my weekend to fly to Laughlin, and I was more anxious than normal. I had to fly into Vegas, then Jameson always picked me up from there. In the time since we’d first met, he’d gotten his own place, so we were able to have privacy and a little place of our own when I visited.
Jameson always waited for me in the same spot at the airport. When I rounded the corner, he swept me up in his arms and twirled me around. Even though he did it every time, it still shocked me. I yelped in surprise, then giggled as I threw my arms around his neck.
“I missed you,” he said, squeezing me tight. When he set me down, he pressed a quick kiss on my lips.
I smiled against his lips. “I missed you, too.”
He linked our fingers together. “Ready to go?”
My stomach was tied up in knots as I nodded. “Yes.”
Ever since the first time I rode with Jameson on his bike, I wanted to ride it every chance I got.
Just like him.
I enjoyed the feel of the wind in my hair and being pressed against him. He was right when he had described it to me when we’d first met—fast and free.
When we got to his house, we went inside, and Jameson started kissing me.
I stopped him because the first thing we always did when I came into town was have sex. I placed my hands on his chest, pushing him back. “Wait.”
His brows furrowed, concern etched on his face. “What? Is everything okay?”
My chest tightened, and my eyes blurred with tears. “I don’t know.”
He cupped my face. “Lucia, don’t cry. Tell me what’s wrong.”
I placed my hands over his, gripping them tightly. “I’m pregnant.”
He blinked several times, then searched my eyes. “Are you sure?”
I nodded. “I took three different pregnancy tests.”
His face was blank so I couldn’t tell what he was thinking. He wiped the tears from my eyes with his thumbs and smiled. “That’s fucking great.”
He laughed, then kissed me. “We’re having a baby! I’m going to be a dad.”
A small smile curved my lips. “You’re okay with this?”
“Hell yeah, I’m okay with it. I’m more than okay with it.” He picked me up and twirled me around, then kissed me again. “Why wouldn’t I be?”
“Well, we’ve only known each other for two months, and we live over a thousand miles away from each other, and you’re in a motorcycle club and—”
Chuckling, he put a finger to my lips, stopping me. “We can figure all that out. Bikers have babies all the time. My sister has one with an MC president.”
“Okay,” I replied with a sigh, feeling the weight I’d been holding since I found out I was pregnant slip away.
Jameson hadn’t stopped smiling since I told him. “I actually was going to ask you to move in with me this weekend.”
I arched a brow. “Really?”
He nodded. “I had a really romantic night planned out where I was going to tell you I was in love with you and that I couldn’t live another minute without you and—”
It was my turn to stop him. “Wait, what?” We hadn’t said those three little words yet, so I had to make sure I heard him right.
He gave me a knowing grin. “I love you, Lucia.”
My stomach fluttered, my chest tightening with emotion again. “Are you just saying that because you knocked me up?”
He barked a laugh. “No. But I love you even more now that I knocked you up.”
He knelt and kissed my belly. The gesture made tears come to my eyes again. “I love you.”
Jameson smiled up at me. “I love you, too.” Then he stood and kissed me, soft and tender. When the kiss deepened, he picked me up and carried me to his bed, then laid me down.
He slowly stripped my clothes, eyes raking over my body reverently. “You’re so fucking beautiful. I’m the luckiest man alive.”
I lost count of how many times we made love that night. And when I woke up in Jameson’s arms the following morning with his hand on my belly, I felt whole for the first time in my entire life.
And I couldn’t wait to start the next chapter of my life with him and our baby.
THE END
