Kate's Zodiac Prophecy

Kate's Zodiac Prophecy

Prologue

With a shrug, Vincent entered the store, looking around briefly, breathing in the scent of pungent sage and sandalwood incense.

One shelf was lined with various voodoo dolls, another filled with candles, and a third held holders for the candles.

Glancing at all the products, Vinny let the cool air struggle against the Summer day's heat.

“Bonjour! Es-tu Vin-sahn? Vinny?” Suddenly, a tall black man stood in the center of the room. Vinny looked up at the man in shock as he was suddenly being addressed by name.

“Uh…”

”Mon ami! Fret not, my friend. I just finished writing this for you.” Remy held out an envelope containing a simple letter inside.

”What’s this?” Vincent looked at the envelope skeptically. He flipped it over to see his name scribbled on the outside. “Do I know you?”

”Non, mon ami. Moi c’est Remy. How y’all are?”

Vinny responded, “Cool name. I’m good, but what is this?”

“Cette lettre, c’est une fortune qui concerne toi et ta femme.” Remy responded.

Looking at Remy, a bit puzzled with his high school French working overtime, “It’s something about Kate and me?”

”Oui! Yes! Excuse me, my English is ok.” Remy smiled.

Vincent couldn’t help but smile back at the infectious grin before him.

As he opened the letter, Vinny took a mental picture of Remy dressed in a comfortable, loose-fitting shirt with earthy colors blending in a smooth fabric, light linen pants, bare feet on the wooden floor, and an amulet around his neck holding a feather hanging down.

Vinny’s eyes read the paper, glancing back up at the psychic skeptically as he slipped it into his pocket. “Who told you I would be coming here?” He asked with a raised eyebrow. His olive-colored skin appeared to glow in the light in the shop.

”Mon ami, I ain’t had no idee you’d be here. Sometimes dem spirits, they call to me, an’ today, they wan’ me to give ya dis message,” Remy used his thumb to touch Vinny’s third eye briefly.

“This is bizarre, bro. I gotta go.” Vincent rushed to leave the shop, shaking Remy’s hand; he didn’t want to be rude, the psychic pulled him into a hug instead.

Vinny rushed to his car, trying to get out of the heat.

The contents of the letter were shocking, but Vinny’s mind was not fully absorbing the information.

He considered simply tearing it up, and then he did.

There was nothing special about the paper or the envelope, he tore it twice, creating four small pieces.

Vinny placed the pieces in the glove box and smiled to himself as he drove home.
