Chapter Sixteen

Aiden

W eirdly enough, when Calder’s home came into sight, I felt a sense of relief wash over me. The feeling came out of nowhere and yet it isn’t an unwelcome one either. I feel safe here, and the feeling is even more bizarre than the relief of being back at Calder’s.

“It’s so good to be home,” Calder exclaims when he unlocks the door and opens it wide for me to step in first. Such a gentleman. I make a noise of agreement as I step past him.“Is something wrong, Aiden?”

“Nothing’s wrong.”

“I doubt that,” he mutters looking out of the corner of his eye at him, “just tell me, and I’ll fix it.”

I look back at him over my shoulder, “Really, Calder, it’s nothing. I’m fine.” The truth is I don’t feel fine. Not even a little bit. What I feel can’t even be put into words with how overwhelmed I feel.

It has nothing to do with Calder and everything to do with the situation I find myself in. Calder continues to stare at me with pleading eyes and I let out a heavy breath.

“You know that feel where you’re just about to fall asleep and then you drip or fall in a dream and your whole body jolts back awake,” I ask, and Calder slowly nods, “I guess that’s how I feel. Except I just keep getting jolted back awake repeatedly. I haven’t had a chance to accept or process that this is my new normal, you know?”

Calder runs a hand through his hair anxiously as I watch his brow scrunch in concentration. He seems lost in thought as he tugs on the ends of his hair. He opens his mouth like he wants to say something and then closes it. He lets out a huff of frustration.

“I don’t know how to make this right,” he mutters finally in a quiet tone as if he’s talking to himself more than me.

“I guess that it’s just going to take time getting used to it,” I mumble averting my eyes and suddenly feeling awkward. His palm presses gently against my cheek pulling me back to him.

“Stop looking like that,” he grumbles.

“Like what?”

“Like it’s the end of the world. I don’t like this look on you,” he mutters as his eyes plead with me, “Go back to looking like you want to murder someone. At least that look has passion and life in it.” I let out a disbelieving scoff.

“I’m not that bad,” I grumble trying to pull away, but Calder is having none of that. Instead, he steps further into my space.

“I caught that glint in your eye when I dealt with that idiot,” he murmurs as his heated gaze takes me in, “you are so beautiful with macabre thoughts.”

“I don’t think anyone has ever called me beautiful,” I mutter shifting awkwardly.

“Then they are fools not to see what’s right in front of their faces,” Calder rumbles and I feel it in every fiber of my soul.

I pull away and wrap my arms around myself as I begin to feel overwhelmed.

“Are you hungry, little bat? You look hungry,” Calder questions switching the subject so quickly that it makes my head spin.

“I mean, I could eat,” I shrug and his eyes heat as his pupils dilate. My next breath gets stuck in my throat from the look in his eyes.

“Let me just grab a blood bag so you don’t drain me dry,” his voice several octaves lower as he turns toward his kitchen. His words have my brain conjuring all kinds of other ways I could drain him dry.

“Oh, you mean that kind of eating,” I mutter following him only to slam right into his back when he suddenly stops. He lets out a grunt before looking back at me, “what did you think I meant?”

“Nothing,” my gaze darts down his body before lifting back up to his eyes. His eyes darken with lust and my fingers tingle to reach for him. He shakes his head before continuing his way to the kitchen. I may or may not be pouting at his back as I follow.

He snags a bag out of the fridge and slams the straw into it like a fucking juice box. Why the fuck is that so hot? I’m not going to lie it was weird as fuck the first time I saw him do it, but I guess I’m used to it.

He sucks it down eagerly and a little shiver rolls through me. I watch his Adam's apple bob with the motion of every swallow. My cock begins to harden, and I shift awkwardly biting the inside of my cheek.

“Doesn’t it taste better fresh,” I mumble out of nowhere not able to take my eyes off him.

“Of course it does,” he says with a shrug as a drop of blood rolls down his chin, “it’s like that with everything, isn’t it?” He cocks his head at me scrutinizing my reaction.

“Yeah, I guess so,” and if my cheeks could heat right now, I’m almost positive I would be blushing.

My eyes continue to track that little trail of blood, and before I know what I’m doing I dart forward. I lick the drip from his chin and his breath catches in his throat. Clearly, I caught him off guard. I step back slowly several steps trying to put distance between our bodies feeling embarrassed about my lack of impulse control.

Calder clears his throat after a couple of awkward silent moments. It takes me a moment to realize I’ve just been staring at his mouth for probably an awkward amount of time. Long enough that when I look up at him, he has this knowing glint in his blood-red eyes. I run my tongue along my bottom lip causing his eyes to dart to the motion.

“Come here,” he murmurs in a gravelly tone that has my whole body lighting up with anticipation.

As if pulled by a phantom force my feet move of their own accord. Before I know it, I’m standing right in front of Calder once more looking up at him.

“That’s my good little bat,” his deep voice has a shiver running down my back, “would you like it fresh?” I nod numbly like an idiot stuck in a daze not even realizing what it is I’m agreeing to.

All I know is that I need his hands on me right now. I’d be willing to agree to just about anything when it comes to Calder. I should probably be embarrassed about that, but I can’t find it in me. I want him. Need him more than my next breath. I swallow hard and Calder’s eyes trail down to my throat.

I doubt that’s safe for my health, but I am technically dead so I shouldn’t have to worry too much, right? He pulls me closer running a hand through my messy hair.

“So beautiful,” he murmurs, and I lean further into the touch. My nerve endings fired away at his words.

His other hand curls against my hip pulling me even closer to him until there’s barely any space between our bodies. I can feel his chest press lightly against mine with every harsh breath. I press my hips into his like a brat causing a groan to fall from his lips.

“You’ll have to get a lot closer if you’re going to feed from me, little bat,” he growls as he tilts his head to the side in invitation. My mouth suddenly waters and I bite my bottom lip to hold back the moan that wants to break free. He looks at me from the corner of his eyes as if challenging me, but I hesitate.

“Come now, you weren’t shy when you had an audience the other night,” he huffs out through a chuckle of amusement. His eyes lit and a half smirk kicked up the corner of his mouth. I narrow my eyes at him in accusation, and before he can say anything else I lunge forward.

My arms wrap around his neck and my leg hitches up around the side of his hip. I’m shorter than him, but I don’t allow that to deter me. I knock him back against the kitchen counter forcing a grunt from his throat and I bite down on the sensitive flesh of his neck. His whole body shudders against mine, and I smile against his warm flesh at the effect I have over him.

His hands palm my ass hitching me further up his torso and holding me up against him as I swallow mouthful after mouthful of his delicious blood. Never in a million years would I think I’d be in this position. Ever. If you would have told me this is where I would have been a week ago, I would have laughed straight in your face.

But here I am sucking down blood like my life depends on it. Well, technically it does now. So, there is that I guess.

“Fuck, Aiden,” Calder groans as his head tips back further and I follow eagerly with this insatiable need burning me up inside, “fuck.”

The taste of Calder’s blood exploded on my tastebuds and I whimper against him. I shamelessly squirmed against his hold needing more. So much more. Needing the feel of his skin on mine. Needing his lips on me. I just fucking needed him. His hips thrust as if subconsciously against mine as if he could hear the thoughts running through my mind.

“Don’t stop,” he groans before twisting around and setting me down on the counter. He presses in between my thighs spreading me wider to accommodate him. I bit down burying my fangs deeper into his neck, but I don’t drink anymore.

I don’t need to feed any longer, but I can’t help the comforting feeling of having my fangs buried in him. I also don’t want him passing out on me, but the sensation of having my fangs in him leaves me almost giddy. I little sigh of pleasure escapes me causing his grip to tighten.

His harsh breaths panting out of him as he leans over me trying to get closer and closer. As if trying to fuse us together. I feel his hard length press against mine as he tries to fuck me through our clothes. Thrusting his hips wildly against mine. The grip he has on my hips is sure to leave bruises, but I can’t find it in me to care. Neither do I want him to stop.

“Fuck,” he grits out and I feel his cock pulse against me. Wet warmth spreads against my crotch and he pulls away slightly forcing me to release my fangs from his neck causing me to whine in protest. I wasn’t done with him yet. I needed more.

I trail my gaze down his body as his chest rises and falls with his heaving breaths. My eyes widen slightly when I see a wet spot on his jeans and my gaze darts to his. He looks awkwardly embarrassed as he rubs the back of his neck averting his eyes from me as if trying to hide from me. Which is silly considering he’s a six-foot tall and broad vampire.

“Did you just…” I trail off not knowing how to finish my sentence without making it even more awkward. I don’t want him to be embarrassed even as a sick twisted satisfaction curls through me. I bet Marcus never had that effect on him, I think smugly to myself.

“Umm, yeah,” he mumbles still refusing to look at me. My chest tightens and everything in me wants to reach out to him, but I don’t want to make it worse.

“Oh,” I say like a complete idiot.

“Yeah, I’m just gonna,” he throws his thumb over his shoulder and turns as if to run, but I grab his wrist unable to let him leave.

“Aiden,” he huffs still refusing to look at me.

“Calder,” I mimic his irritated tone. Finally, he turns hesitantly towards me. His expression is shy and closed off. For some reason, I don’t like seeing him like this. He shouldn’t be feeling embarrassed. If anything, it’s a huge compliment as far as I’m concerned.

He swallows hard and tugs on his wrist trying to get me to release him. Instead of releasing him, I say something that probably shocks the hell out of both of us.

“I’m not finished,” I blurt out.

His eyes widen and dart down to my crotch. My cock still straining with need. He opens and closes his mouth a couple of times like he has no clue what to say. He shakes his head as his gaze trails back up to mine. I cock an eyebrow at him, and before I know what’s happening he’s lifting me into his arms. A little noise of surprise leaves me as he starts walking towards his room without another word.
