Chapter 9

Randy

I shook my head. “You dark horse. I didn’t think you had it in you.”

“Wait—he had what in him?” Jeff interjected. “Did you get fucked too?”

Travis and Doug burst out laughing. Doug gave Jeff a pained expression. “Sorry to ruin your little fantasy, but I don’t bottom.”

I chuckled. “You don’t know what you’re missing.”

Three heads turned in my direction.

“I know Travis used to joke about you taking a dick in the stalls at Mother Lode, but I didn’t really think it was a possibility.” Jeff stared at me. “Seriously?”

“You mean you’ve never tried it either?” I knew all our stories over the years had focused on topping, but I figured that was all of us sticking to a type. I grinned. “Maybe you should get your latest conquest to give it a go.”

Jeff coughed. “That might be a little difficult.”

I frowned, but then the light dawned and I smiled. “I see. Well, they have these amazing things called strap-ons. He might like the idea.”

Jeff snorted. “ He might, sure, but what about me?” He gave me an inquiring glance. “You really like it?”

“There’s nothing wrong with being versatile. It’s only a suggestion.” I bit my lip. “And no, I don’t like it. I love it.” What filled my head was the memory of lying face down on the bed, ass tilted, Logan’s kisses soft on my back as he moved in and out, our moans filling the air…

“Can I get back to Doug’s tale for a second?” Travis took a mouthful of beer then peered at him. “You still haven’t explained what you meant by consequences.”

Doug gave us a sheepish glance. “Oh. Right. Well, you see… the thing is…”

I rolled my eyes. “If you don’t spit it out I may have to kill you.” It was a line Logan used frequently, and it had kinda stuck.

“I did kinda mention it, right at the end. You know I told you Austin has an OnlyFans page? Well, we were talking about this weekend, and he intimated he’d be up for…a gang bang.”

I stilled. “Holy fuck.” Okay, this was virgin territory.

“We already heard that part on the way here,” Jeff retorted.

I snorted. “Do the math, Jeff. Gang bang…OnlyFans…”

His jaw dropped, and Doug snickered. “And you say I’m slow on the uptake?”

“He wants to film us all fucking him, then put it online?” Travis gaped.

“This is why we need to have a discussion,” Doug reiterated. “Because he’ll be here tomorrow, and we have to work out if we’re all on the same page.”

“You mean, his OnlyFans page?” Travis quipped. He rubbed his smooth jaw. “Personally, I like the idea. My guy has already asked if we could have a three-way. He might be up for more.”

I decided to step in.

“Look, there’s something we have to consider before we have ourselves a little fuckfest. We’ve already covered the ground rules. You don’t have to join in if you don’t want to.” Except I knew I was reinforcing that part because I wasn’t going to participate.

Logan wasn’t a hook-up. I didn’t want to share him.

I regarded them with my chin held high. “You need to decide how you feel about being filmed. If you’re okay with it, then fine. If you’re not, that’s fine too. But everyone has to be aware of who’s in and who’s out, and not step outside the lines.”

Doug gave a shrug. “After what I did back in May, I’m okay with it.” He scowled. “The only thing that worries me is if Angela got to see it. Not that such a thing is likely, but there’s always the possibility.”

“Do you see much of her these days?” Doug didn’t talk about her or their son, but then none of us shared all that much.

I don’t have a clue what’s going on in their personal lives, do I?

“Not really. I send her money for Joshua’s education, and she says once he’s graduated from college, I can stop all together. I just don’t know what she’d think if she saw me fucking in some video. Probably wouldn’t be a shock. She might think all gay men do it.”

His face tightened, and I couldn’t escape the feeling there was a lot more going on under the surface.

“Who’s next?” Doug demanded.

“Me,” Travis piped up. “Although this is where I tell you my story is nowhere near as exciting as Doug’s. I think he might win the prize this visit.”

“Well, before you get going, I’m gonna call for a bathroom break.” Jeff stood and headed indoors.

“Me too,” Travis chimed in.

I lifted the metal grill from the top of the fire pit and got the kindling burning. I added logs, then replaced the grill. The sun was low in the sky, and there was a familiar pinky-purple tinge on the horizon that always made me think of summer.

Doug sat on his chair, staring out at the lake, its surface like molten gold. The faraway expression in his eyes convinced me I had to say something.

The man is hurting . That was enough to make me ache for him.

I sat on the chair next to his. “Before they come back, wanna tell me what’s wrong? And don’t say everything’s fine, because we both know that’s total bullshit.”

He didn’t look at me. “It’s my son, Joshua.”

“Has something happened to him?”

Doug let out a snort. “How would I know? We hardly talk to each other beyond a few text messages. It’s been like this for a couple of years now.” Then he glanced at me, and I winced to see the pain in his eyes. “I think I know what’s going on, though.”

Whatever it was, it was bad.

“What do you suspect?”

“Drugs.” The word almost choked him.

“What makes you think that?” My heart went out to him.

“He avoids me, he’s twenty-two, he’s secretive… Of course it’s drugs. Who knows what he gets up to in college, who he mixes with…”

I took a deep breath. “Okay, yeah, it could be drugs. It could also be any number of things, none of them anywhere close to being that bad.” Logan was a testament to that.

“So what should I do?”

I thought for a moment. “As far as I can see, you only have two options. You wait it out and hope he comes through whatever it is he’s going through, or…you tell him you want to talk. Tell him nothing is insurmountable. And remind him you love him.”

“I’ll always love him, because he’s my son. I… I just don’t know him anymore.”

“Then maybe you need to get to know him all over again.” Footsteps behind me told me our conversation had come to an end. The other two joined us, and Travis peered into the fridge that sat on the porch.

“Ooh, great. More beer.” He opened it and grabbed four bottles, then handed them out.

“Before you start,” I said as I popped the cap. “Are we going to meet the guy tomorrow? Because if we are, we need his real name.”

Travis sat back on his steamer chair. “Yes, you are, and his name’s Cameron.”

“How did you meet him?” Jeff asked before taking a long drink from his bottle.

Travis muttered something and there were calls for him to speak louder and more clearly.

“I’m his diving coach, okay?”

A split second later we all erupted into laughter.

I wiped my eyes. “You know back at that stupid reunion, I joked about you hanging around the locker room? That was not a suggestion.”

“He is legal, isn’t he?” Jeff asked.

Travis chuckled. “He’s twenty-three, he studies at UCLA, and we met four months ago.”

“And how long was it before you ended up in the sack?”

He flushed. “Five days. And the sack would’ve been a lot less risky.”

I grinned. “Okay, you’ve baited us—tell us the rest.”

I loved this part of our weekends.

You never know what’s coming right at you.
