Chapter 30

Maui, Hawaii

March 25, 2025

Randy

Logan had been vibrating with excitement ever since we’d arrived at LAX to catch the flight to Maui. No—before that, when I’d shared my surprise of a Spring Break vacation. We went shopping for clothes, sandals, sunscreen, even new sunglasses, and with every passing day his buzz of anticipation grew more noticeable.

During the taxi ride to the hotel, he’d been transfixed by the passing scenery, and the sight of the beach front hotel had rendered him speechless. Once I’d checked us in, and tipped the bellhop who led the way to our room, our cases loaded on his luggage cart, we were finally in what would be our base for the following six nights.

I closed the door on the bellhop, turned to face Logan, and smiled. “Well? What do you think?”

Logan beamed. “This is amazing.”

White gauzy fabric draped the four poster bed, and the soft perfume from the flowers on the table permeated the air. Patio doors revealed a balcony, and the ocean beyond that, the sun sparkling on the waves.

It was perfect.

“Have you been here before?”

“Maui? No. I visited Honolulu once for an architects’ convention. I told myself I’d come back some day.”

He chuckled. “I’ve always wanted to visit Hawaii, but it could have waited, you know.” His eyes gleamed. “This would’ve made a great place for our honeymoon.”

I laughed. “Are you kidding? Hawaii in July? You wouldn’t be able to move out there for tourists. Granted, it would be warmer, but I’m not going to complain about seventy degrees.” I pointed to the suitcases. “Let’s unpack, and then we’ll go exploring.”

Logan opened his case and began removing his neatly folded clothing. “You didn’t have to take me clothes shopping, but I’m glad you did.” He held up the long, soft cotton white shirt. “I think this is my favorite.”

“It goes well with those white linen pants. Why don’t you put those on?”

He nodded, unfastening his jeans.

I laughed again. “Finish unpacking first? We’re not in any hurry.”

Logan bit his lip, then went back to his task.

I was glad of the chance to busy myself. Logan wasn’t the only one buzzing with excitement. I’d been in the same state ever since I’d found the hotel website.

Ten minutes later, everything was either hung up or placed in drawers. The bathroom comprised a corner bath, complete with jets, and a walk-in shower which we both took advantage of to remove all traces of our journey.

And yeah, we might have shared blow jobs as well as the soap.

Finally, we were ready to venture out.

Logan looked edible in his white attire, but something was missing from his ensemble. I reached into the side pocket of my suitcase and brought out a little canvas bag. “This is for you. I think it’ll complement your outfit.” I handed it to him.

Logan opened it, smiling when he saw the puka shell necklace. “You’re right, this is perfect.”

I fastened it around his throat where it lay snug against his collarbones. “It suits you.” I let out a chuckle. “Even if it does remind me of porn videos I watched when I was in my twenties. These necklaces were almost a way of saying you were gay.” I gestured to my own clothes. “Will I do?”

I suspected that smile wouldn’t leave his face all day and on into the night.

“You look fantastic.” He stroked my linen shirt. “Except now I want to take this off.”

I chuckled. “Down boy. Exploring first, followed by food. Then you can have your wicked way with me.”

Logan grinned. “That sounds promising.” He inclined his head toward the balcony. “Is there beach access here?”

I nodded. “There are gardens that lead down to the beach. Want to check them out?”

His face glowed, and I took that as a yes.

We walked through the hotel lobby, following the signs to the gardens. Outside, the temperature was pleasant as we strolled along the paths, admiring the flower beds. We reached a boardwalk leading to the beach. I could hear the waves lapping the shore as we drew closer.

Logan stopped. “Aw, look at that.”

Ahead of us was a tall archway, covered in white flowers and green leaves, the ocean behind it, crashing on the gray rocks about twenty feet out to sea. In front of the arch were two rows of wooden chairs draped with leis, an aisle separating them. Soft music poured from speakers perched on tripods on the sand.

“It must be a wedding,” I remarked, my heartbeat quickening. I pointed to a group of people standing nearby. “And they must be the guests.”

“What a great place for a wedding. Maybe we could do something like that.”

“It’s worth thinking about.” How I kept my face straight I would never know.

Then Logan’s breathing hitched. “Wait a minute. That guy in the dark blue shirt…. He looks like my dad.” He let out a wry chuckle. “Wait until I tell him he’s got a double in Hawaii.”

I held my breath. I didn’t have to wait long.

“Oh my God. That is my dad.” He stared at the group. “And there’s Travis… and Jeff… and…” Logan shook his head. “Okay, this is getting weird.”

“It isn’t weird at all,” I told him. “Just the result of a few months of planning.”

Before I could say anything else, a smartly dressed woman walked toward us, her hand outstretched.

“Mr. Bowman? We spoke on the phone yesterday. I’m Lani Kealoha.”

We shook. “Everything’s ready?”

She smiled. “We were just waiting for you, and you’re right on time.”

“Could we have a few minutes to speak with our guests?” I asked.

“Of course. Give me a nod when you’re ready to begin the ceremony, and the music will start.” She smiled at Logan, then turned and walked toward the arch.

Logan turned slowly. “Want to tell me what’s going on?” His eyes were huge, his breathing erratic.

I removed the box from my pocket and opened it to reveal two white gold bands.

“Our friends are here to help us celebrate. I asked your mom too, but she couldn’t make it. She wants photos though. Your dad is taking them.”

He expelled a long breath. “You sneaky, sneaky man.”

“But you like the idea?”

He laughed. “And what would you do if I said no?” He kissed me, an exuberant kiss full of life and joy. “Of course I love it,” he murmured against my lips.

I could finally breathe.

I signaled to the others, and they walked toward us, grinning. A heartbeat later we were surrounded, all of them smiling and clapping us on the back. Logan still wore a dazed expression, and Doug put his arm around him.

“Breathe, son.”

He blinked. “How long have you all known about this?”

Austin chuckled. “Since December. You have no idea how hard I found it not to blurt out anything when we spoke at Christmas.”

“There’s a room booked for us after the ceremony,” I told Logan. “The food looks amazing, and there’s champagne.”

“We’re all staying here too,” Jeff said with a grin. “In fact, all of us could probably fit in our room, it’s so big.” His eyes gleamed. “And it’s got a super-wide king bed.”

Cameron’s face lit up. “Then it looks like tonight’s gang bang is in Jeff’s room. My turn, this time, and Brandon?” He grinned. “I hope you’ve brought Rocco Steele with you.”

Brandon snickered. “Better than that. I’ve got Legrand Wolf, all eleven inches of him.”

I coughed. “I’m sorry to interrupt you when you’re planning your shenanigans, but in case you missed it, there’s a wedding about to take place?” I glanced at Logan. “If you’ve recovered enough to say I do in the right place.”

Logan beamed. “I think I can manage it.”

I waited until everyone had taken their seats, and the officiant stood under the arch before kissing Logan, a lingering sweet kiss into which I poured all my love for the wonderful man who’d captured my heart. “Then let’s get married.”

“And what will we be doing tonight while they’re all busy fucking each other’s brains out?”

“You’ll have to wait and see.” I kissed him again. “But this is one tale I’ll never share with a single soul.” I smiled. “My kiss-and-tell days are over.”
