Chapter Thirteen
A mixture of emotions thrums through my body as I look down at my Omega nested in my arms. The strongest emotion is by far awe.
Awe that she is mine. That having the one that is destined to be mine in my arms after believing I would never have this, is a relief I didn't know I needed. There is also disbelief. The feeling that maybe this isn’t real. An emotion that tormented me the moment I opened my eyes this morning.
I don’t know what I would do if this all proved to be a fragment of my imagination. It hasn’t yet been a full two days and I already know that she is the person for me. If the knowledge that she is my mate wasn’t enough, the feeling I get when I look at her would be it. I know without a shadow of a doubt that even without this feeling pulsing through me that she would have caught my eye anyway. How could she not have? She is the most beautiful woman I have ever laid my eyes on .
Among those feelings, I am also terrified. Terrified that I am going to lose her. That the threat of her father will take her from us in some capacity. As I look down at Kennedy, I try to remind myself that she is real and safe in my arms but it only dulls the thought. Pushing the thought from my mind, I smile down at her
“Good morning, Little Omega.”
“Good morning, Ledger.”
Her voice sends a shiver through my body and I can’t help the quiet growl that escapes my throat.
Not allowing myself to get distracted any further than I already know that she is capable of making me, I take off down the hallway, carrying her down the steps to the kitchen. She laughs as my movement makes her bounce and I can’t help smiling at the sound.
Theo is already in the kitchen as I come around the corner. He sets a plate of waffles and smiles at where Kennedy has managed to pop her head out of the burrito. I watch her nose twitch as the smell of breakfast hits her nose. I set her down on one of the breakfast bar stools. She doesn’t look up at me as I take a step away from her, instead her eyes are glued to the plate in front of her.
“Morning, love. How did you sleep?” Theo drawls as he brings he takes a sip of his coffee.
Kennedy goes to answer but her stomach grumbles instead.
Both Theo and I laugh as Kennedy looks down to her lap, blushing in embarrassment. “Hungry, I guess?” Theo asks as he sets his cup down before coming around the island bench.
Kennedy looks up at him as he places a kiss on the top of her head.
“Dig in. We’ve got a lot on the agenda today. Seeing how we all had a bit of a sleep in this morning, we don’t have long until school starts. ”
Kennedy’s eyes widen as she looks up at him in horror.
“Oh my God! I just remembered I completely ditched school yesterday! The teachers are going to have it out for me now. Oh God, I’m going to be expelled, aren’t I?” Kennedy’s questions come out in a rush. Her frantic shuffling having extracted her top half out of the blanket she was wrapped in moments prior.
I step up into her, grabbing her face gently before turning her attention completely towards me.
“Breathe for me, Little Omega.”
Her first breath in is choppy and she releases it far too quickly before pulling in another. “Not like that. Follow me. Deep breath in,” I wait for her to follow my lead. It takes her a second before she begins sucking in her first proper breath.
“Now, breathe out slowly.” I instruct once her lungs are full. “Again.” I coach her three more times until I am convinced she is calm enough to do the motion on her own. “Theo organised everything with Ridgeview yesterday. You won’t be in trouble for missing a day off school. They certainly won’t expel you for it either. It is university after all.”
She nods, even though she doesn’t look fully convinced. I don’t mind. I know that I have a hell of a lot more work to do before I have fully gained her trust and have the ability for her to follow me blindly.
We will get to that point though. As an Alpha, I need that of my Omega. And in return, I will grant her mine.
“As for all of your schooling documents, everything has officially been rolled over so you have control of it. Your father now has no jurisdiction over you or your life,” Theo says as he places a hand on her back .
Where she would have previously jumped away from the touch, there’s only a slight flinch, something that brings me hope.
“A...Are you sure?” Kennedy’s voice is quiet as she looks up at her other Alpha. Theo nods, “One thing that I can promise you is that he will never be able to touch you again. You are my–our–Omega. You will never know that life ever again. In this house, you are safe.”
His face remains solemn as he looks down at her. I can see the doubt in her face. How could she not? Not even a day ago, she was looking down the face of a man that was planning her demise. The man that we have come to learn has attempted to sell her. A fact that makes yesterday's agitation creep up again.
Now, she is surrounded by three Alphas who are already overly infatuated with her. Who are promising things that she had only dreamed of. Are providing her a life that she deserves.
She nods but like my promises, I know she doesn’t fully believe them. “Eat up, love,” Theo prompts, nodding down at the plate of waffles slowly going cold. I go to step in suggesting that the waffles be remade or heated back up but Kennedy moans around the mouthful that she all but shoved into her mouth.
Everything goes quiet. So much so that if a pin dropped, you would be able to hear it. Both Theo and I are laser-focused as we watch Kennedy chew what's in her mouth before taking another bite of the waffles. It elicits another moan from her. I didn’t realize that watching someone eat would be the equivalent to watching porn but, here we are. I watch the live show right in front of me as I ignore my aching cock. It twitches against my sweats but I ignore it as a string of maple syrup drips down Kennedy’s chin. My balls threaten to burst as she drags her finger up the mess before sucking the digit into her mouth. God damn.
A groan I’m unable to place breaks the silence in the kitchen, snapping us back into reality. I launch myself away from Kennedy, unable to trust myself if I keep watching her any longer.
“I’m going to take a shower,” I grumble.
A cold fucking shower.
Coming back down the stairs after having to fight my erection under the freezing spray of the shower head, I blow a sigh as I find my mate standing with Theo. I feel my heart stop as I spot the shirt she is wearing. My tee from yesterday swims on her but she has rolled the sleeves up so it fits her better. The extra length of the tee is tucked into the front of her black jeans.
She turns, most likely hearing my gasp of air. Her smile lights up the darkness of the Manor. It feels as though it radiates from her.
“Omega,” I growl as I dart down the stairs.
Her eyes widen as I rush towards her. It fills me with even more longing when she doesn’t cower away from me. Instead, the smile remains on her face. “Alpha,” she drawls as I come to a stop in front of her.
Tension at the word builds inside of me. It takes every ounce of strength I have to hold myself back from taking her for my own. I refuse to do that to her though. While I love Jax, I could never just take from Kennedy in that way. I want her fully on-board with us when I mark and claim her as mine.
I want her so amongst the throes of pleasure that she doesn’t even remember her own name.
“I’m holding back the beast, baby. But that word is testing me.”
She just chuckles as she tucks a strand of hair behind her ear.
I didn’t realize that our Little Omega was a little minx too. And dressed in my shirt, she is like my own little snack.
No, she is more than that. She is the whole fucking feast. Catered just for me.
