Chapter Thirty Eight
I watch Kennedy intently as we step through the door to the cell we have been holding Ronan, Trent and Charles in. Each of the Alphas are hanging from their hands with chains.
Dried blood still cakes their chests from where Jax and Ledger were obviously unleashing their anger on them the other day.
Now that I’m not feeling the desperation to save my Omega, I allow myself to feel unrestrained anger for the pieces of shit that stole what is mine.
My growl echoes through the room, startling them. Their heads snap up to mine, terror filling their gazes as they see just how overpowered they are.
That is until their eyes find Kennedy. Their gazes turn angry, rage filling their irises .
Ronan spits, droplets landing on Kennedy’s feet, “You stupid fucking whore! You were meant to be ours! We paid good fucking money for your used ass!”
I go to step forward to shut the vitriol spilling from his mouth but Kennedy beats me to it. I try to stop her with a hand on her shoulder but she simply shrugs me off.
I watch as strength radiates from my Omega, a sight I have never seen from her designation. With a courage I know that I could never possess having just been what she was through, she waltzes straight up to Ronan and punches him across the face.
Blood spurts from his mouth, spraying across the room.
Looking at Kennedy’s hands in surprise, I find a set of spiked brass knuckles on her fingers. They resemble claws, so attuned with our animal side.
As Ronan turns his head back towards Kennedy, the anger once vibrant on his features is significantly dulled. Now, there is a hint of fear.
“Alphas like you think that you own the world. That when you flash your riches, you will get your way. That you can purchase an Omega who already has a pack, steal her from her home and take her. You think that you can do all these things without repercussions,”
She closes the distance between her and Ronan, not afraid of the blood that drips off him. Her lip curls as they come face to face.
“But that's where you are wrong. Omega’s bodies aren’t for Alphas to control.”
Her voice is laced with venom that hits me right in my core. Her words not only affect me and my pack mates, but my fathers who stand behind us as well .
“You don’t own me. My mates don’t own me. I fucking own me .”
Kennedy takes a step back just as she raises her arms. Her knuckles turn white as she clenches the brass in her fist.
Her next punch takes my fathers by surprise. It doesn’t shock me though. I watch as hit after hit, she takes her slice of vengeance. Her pain is laid bare before each of us.
Some people would see it as weak, hearing her cries through his bellowing as she unleashes on the Alpha who is quickly becoming unrecognisable.
But all I can see is a goddess.
An Omega who is sick and tired of being kicked around by people seemingly bigger than her. An Omega who has been dealt year after year of abuse. An Omega who had so much taken from her.
Blood covers her as she eventually steps back, panting from exhaustion. Ronan’s face is torn to shreds. Pieces of skin hang off his face making it hard to even recognise him.
It's obvious that he is dead but I know that you can never be too certain. Holding out my 9mm, I hand it to Kennedy.
She looks up at me, a blank look on her face. Her cheeks are streaked with tears and blood but to me she has never looked more beautiful.
Taking the gun from my hand without hesitation, she holds it up to take aim before pulling the trigger and putting a bullet right between the eyes of whatever is left of the Alpha.
Turning towards Trent, he begins shrieking but is quickly silenced as another round is fired, hitting him directly in the throat.
He gurgles, bloody pouring from his throat, his death equally as gruesome as his pack mate’s .
Charles doesn’t bother struggling after seeing both of his pack mates suffer. Instead he stands up as straight as he can with what is clearly a broken leg.
Kennedy doesn’t falter as he looks her directly in the eye. It's interesting watching him accept his fate at the hands of our Omega. “I’m sorry for the pain that my pack and I caused you, Kennedy. I hope my death brings you the peace that you need.”
Kennedy nods, her head turning to the side for a moment as she assesses him. I don’t know what exactly it is that she is looking for but it's clear that whatever she needed to follow through with her justice, she finds.
Taking a step closer, she holds the pistol up so it rests against his temple.
“The world will be a much better place without scum like you dirtying our world.”
The sound of the bullet firing, the splatter of blood - and other unmentionables - as it finds its target. The following silence after the last Alpha meets his fate feels thick in the air.
I watch Kennedy as she turns and steps towards me, handing my gun back to me. She doesn’t give me anything else.
Killing for the first time isn’t something to take lightly. It's a lot to take a life. From the look on Kennedy’s face, I know that she is going to lock her feelings away until this is all said and done. Then, I will give her a shoulder to cry on.
“What now?” Her voice is calm so at war with the mess behind her.
“Now, my Angel, we pay a visit to your father,” Jax says as he takes a step towards our blood thirsty Omega. Her mouth turns into a wicked grin as she looks up at him .
Dad chuckles as he comes to stand beside me, startling me from basking in the look on my girl's face.
“You will be kept on your toes with that one, figlio. ”
We make our way as a unit out of the cell. Pa makes a call in for a clean up crew to discard the Mullen pack. Papa makes a call to the tech unit to wipe them completely from this earth. Their riches will be moved from account to account, cleaned just as we did with Calvin’s.
The only trace left of them will just be a memory that lingers in the minds of their social circles. My thoughts already roll over ways that issue can be sorted too.
We load back into the car, taking off and making our way to Calvin’s home. My fathers follow closely behind us in Dad’s Rolls.
We warred for only a moment if we should gather some soldiers to bring along with us but we decided against it.
Checking the surveillance we hacked days ago for his residence shows a minimal amount of security. We know that we can handle it.
We park down the road from the house enough to stay out of immediate view. Moving out of the car, we slowly begin making our way to our first target.
The way Calvin has his guards set up shows his lack of understanding of our world. If he was smart enough, he would not only have guards on the gates but he would also have patrols around his property.
Pa and Ledger lead us as we make our way along the front gate. Looking back, I check on Kennedy behind me. Her face is set in determination but she still gives me a small smile when she finds me looking at her .
Turning back to the front, I bring myself into focus. Even though the odds aren’t against us, my training makes me wiser, along with our most recent lesson.
You should never let your guard down.
Ledger holds his hand up, stopping us in our tracks as the two of them make their way into the guard room at the gate. The scuffle is kept surprisingly short as Ledger ducks around the corner, motioning for us to follow him.
We make a run for it to the front door just in case our information is wrong. Thankfully, we reach the porch without any issues.
I look around at both of my brothers as well as my fathers, checking in and ensuring that we are all ready. They each give me a nod before they check over their weapons. Finally, I look down at Kennedy.
“If any of this is too much for you, say the word and one of us will get you out of here. I don’t want you to trigger yourself anymore than necessary. Pulling back doesn’t make you weak.”
She goes to argue with me but I raise my eyebrow. She huffs but nods, “If it's too much I will say something but I need to see this through.”
