3. Eddie

When Robbie’s stomach growls, I head toward the kitchen, calling over my shoulder, “Put your coat on the hook next to the door and come over here. We just ate dinner, and the leftovers are still hot.”

I’m relieved the stew is still in the crockpot, ready to be served. There’s something about Robbie that makes me want to take care of him. Probably because I know what it’s like to be betrayed by an ex. Of course, in wildly different ways, and my ex got a well-deserved bullet in the head, but betrayal always stings.

Then again, it could be those eyes. Slightly too large for his face and making him look incredibly innocent. The type of innocence that I want to dirty up. Fuck, I’m glad there’s a kitchen island between us because my cock does not need to show interest. Though from the smirk Noel gives me, we’re on the same page.

I ladle some beef stew in a bowl and grab a couple of rolls from the breadbasket. Humming, I grab the butter dish and set it next to the rolls, finishing it all off with some silverware and a thick napkin. By the time Robbie has made it to the small table we eat at, he’s pretty much eyefucking the meal I set down.

“Wow. This looks delicious. I’m used to doing all the cooking, but I’m not sure I could make something like this.”

“It’s not that hard,” I mumble, the back of my neck heating as I pretty much slide away from Robbie, needing to be out of his range. Especially when he makes a completely indecent moan as he eats. Fuck. That island really was worth it. I glare over at Noel when he snorts quietly. Because really? At least he’s still on the couch, further away from temptation.

I wipe down the already clean counters, keeping a close eye on Robbie. It’s a mixture of wanting to throw him down on the table to devour and needing to watch in case he’s not what he appears. It wouldn’t be the first time someone sent a pretty little thing our way. It would, however, be the first time it worked. And this time? I’m coming way too close to snapping my patience.

I hope Noel’s hacker friend gets back to him soon. I’d rather fuck Robbie than kill him, but needs must. As if Noel knows I’m thinking of him, he pipes up, “I contacted the tow service. That storm is going to make it too difficult to get out here. They’ll let us know when they can make it out, but it sounds like it won’t be a priority while they’re hunkered down and then dealing with accidents. Especially since you have somewhere warm and dry to hang out. Frank, the owner, knows us pretty well.”

I internally call bullshit, as there’s no Frank, but I understand why Noel wants to keep him here in case there’s more to his story. Robbie finishes off his stew and sets his spoon down, his eyebrows pulled inward. “I hate to be an inconvenience to you, though. I have some money. I was planning on using for a cheap motel?—”

“Nonsense.” I shut that shit down quick. “You’re more than welcome here. We could use the company anyway, especially when we’re cooped up from a storm.”

“So true. Especially now that Eddie will be stuck inside instead of hunting or his favorite—chopping wood.”

Laughing, I shake my head. “That’s your favorite. For some bizarre reason, you love it when I go all “lumberjack” on you.”

“Uh, yeah. Well, sweating muscles are a thing. Even if you do it in plaid.” He says the last as if it’s a crime. And to him, and his sense of fashion, it probably is, but fuck if it isn’t comfortable. Plus, I love annoying the hell out of him at times. “I, at least, reap the benefits when you come inside.”

“I take it the two of you are together? Married?” Robbie asks softly as he glances at my hand, attempting to be discreet but failing.

“We’ve been together for about eight years now. Somewhat married for three.”

“How can you be somewhat married?” Robbie cocks his head as his eyes dart between Noel and me, confusion pulling his lips downward.

“Hmm…well…”

“Oh, for fuck’s sake,” Noel growls. “Eddie and I are in a committed relationship but have no desire for a piece of paper telling the world about it. We also object to the concept of traditional faithfulness in terms of society.”

Recoiling, Robbie’s hands curl into fists. I know exactly where his mind just went. There’re times I wish Noel wasn’t quite so blunt.

“What Noel is trying to say is that society wouldn’t consider ourselves monogamous since we prefer having a third member in our relationship. It helps us with balance. However, that doesn’t make our vows any less. If anything, I think it’s harder for us because it takes a great deal of communication to keep this type of relationship going.”

“Have you had a long-term partner before?” Robbie stands up, taking his empty bowl and shuffling toward the kitchen. Thankfully, this conversation and his reaction have pretty much dampened my cock’s desire, so it’s safe to be near him without showing exactly what I want.

“No. We’ve never found anyone who clicked well enough with us to be more than some fun. It doesn’t make it easy considering we’re…different than most.” I shrug. It’s not like I can tell him we’re murderers and liars by nature. Instead, I throw out part of who we are. “We’re more involved in the kink community. Sometimes you can find that but lack the emotional connection. Or you have the emotional connection and not that.”

“Kink? Like whips and chains?” Robbie’s jaw drops as he stares at us. It’s cute to see the tension in him, like he’s ready to run out in this weather to escape us. It also draws out the prey drive in me, and my cock once again decides it wants to play.

Noel laughs and finally joins in the conversation. “Not our kink. Is that the only thing you know about the community?”

“Uh, yeah.” Robbie bites his bottom lip, heat coloring his cheeks in embarrassment.

“Hey, it’s alright. It”s a pretty common misconception, thanks to the media.” I roll my eyes, finally putting the rag down that I’ve been using. I lean forward, resting my arms on the island. “I prefer humiliation in the bedroom. Some people don’t understand it. Outside of the bedroom, we’re equals. With a third…we’d want to see what clicks, but overall, I’m a caretaker, more of a Daddy, to make it simple terms. Titles don’t necessarily matter. I’d like to find someone that fits us—all of us. It’s not just what Noel and I want, but whoever joins us.”

“Right. But, to clarify, no whips and chains?” His hesitancy is so cute, I want to sweep in and hug him.

“I mean, I like pain, but whipping is a hard limit for me. And, sure, bondage is fun, but we don’t use chains. Rope is our preference.” I lean against Noel, soaking up the strength he gives me. I hate these types of conversations and he knows it. “But that’s our specific relationship.”

“Ooookay. Yeah, I can see why you’ve struggled to find a permanent partner. Because honestly? This confuses the hell out of me. Like, if you’re a caretaker to the third partner, then what is Noel? Are all three of you in a relationship together like that?”

Straightening up, I run my fingers through my hair. This is actually the furthest we’ve gotten with someone who asks good questions. Usually by now, they’re out the door or we’ve agreed to just have one night of fun. Nothing wrong with some sexy time and I wouldn’t turn Robbie away.

Noel clears his throat and answers, “It is very dependent. There’s no one way to look at it. It may be something where I’m Eddie’s Master, he’s someone’s Daddy, and I don’t have an interaction with his little one. Or, it may be that the little one has both a Daddy and a Master. Depending, and while it would surprise me, Eddie and I may both be Daddies to the third. It’s something that we’d talk about. And likely, as with all relationships, things would constantly evolve. Kinks evolve, and it’s about meeting people’s needs. Nothing is static. That’s why it makes it so much harder to find our missing piece.”

Thank fuck Noel finally spoke up. This is not my arena. At all. Not only that, this isn’t someone we met out at a party or anything like that. No, he stumbled upon our home, and if he is innocent, we shouldn’t be talking about this. We should be giving him support. Not thinking of ways I’d like to make him choke on my cock.

I go to interrupt and take over Robbie’s cleaning, but Noel rests his hand on my arm, silencing me. I watch instead as Robbie cleans his dish and spoon, placing it on the drying mat afterward.

“Thank you for cleaning up,” Noel says. Aw, shit. I know he’s thinking of way more servitude than that.

“You’re welcome.” Robbie was losing the blush in his cheeks before Noel’s simple ‘thank you’ brought it back. Wringing his hands, he clears his throat. “So, uh, is there someplace I can stay here? I don’t want to be in your way, and I’m not sure what you do for work…?”

Yep. Topic change. I bite back my sigh as I had an irrational hope that maybe he’d ask more, be interested, just…something I guess. Noel catches my gaze and rolls his eyes at me, but I’m not the optimistic kind. He’s in charge of that and considering he’s more of a realist than anything? Optimism isn’t really a thing here. Then again, we stay alive because we don’t think that way.

“Sure, let me show you around,” Noel answers as he starts guiding him through the cabin. “And as for work…”

His voice trails off, and I head over to the couch, plopping down since Noel isn’t here to yell at me for not being graceful or some shit. It’s a solid couch and wasn’t cheap. If it can’t hold up to me desperately needing to sit down, then it wasn’t worth the amount we paid for it. I tip my head back and wait. It’s better that Noel took over because I’m too impatient with things. And for fuck’s sake, he probably isn’t even looking for anything after getting out of a relationship.

I groan because my mind won’t shut up. And that right there is why I need Noel, my Master. Regardless of company, I’m going to need some time to let go. And if I’m lucky, he’ll let me earn an orgasm…
