Prologue

‘Come with me!’ Demetri reached out and took my hands in his. ‘Please!’

‘How can I?’ I replied. ‘All that I am now is here. In Sandpiper Shore.’

‘I really think that we have something special, Michelle.’ He reached up and tucked a lock of hair that had escaped my updo behind my ear.

The way he elongated the first part of my name in his sexy Greek accent had always made me feel warm and fuzzy but right then I felt sick.

I certainly had not envisaged my Saturday morning ending like this.

Since he’d imparted his news upon me, my whole world had turned upside down.

Although it did explain a lot about the mystery that had been looming over us these past few weeks.

When his pleading big brown eyes locked on mine, I knew that whatever decision I made, I was in danger of throwing a whole life away and I felt like I couldn’t win either way.

‘Think about it. Give it some serious consideration. That’s all I ask. I know I’m asking you to take a risk on me, but it doesn’t have to be the end of us, Michelle. It could be just the beginning.’
