Loving Damian King

Loving Damian King

Chapter 1

Tammy

"Good morning, beautiful."

I smiled and shook my head.

He was going to be the death of me.

Lord, that man is fine.

The morning light coming through the curtains landed right across his chest. Muscles in all the right places. Tattoos spread across his skin without doing too much.

Everything about Damian looked good.

And the crazy thing was, he had no idea how fine he was.

At least that's what I liked to tell myself.

His thumb brushed across my cheek while he looked at me like I was the only woman in the world.

My heart fluttered.

Every.

Single.

Time.

"Why you looking at me like that?" I asked.

A smile pulled at the corner of his mouth.

"Like what?"

"You know exactly like what."

He pulled me closer against him.

"I can't look at my woman?"

I laughed.

"Boy, please."

His arm tightened around my waist.

"My woman," he said again.

The way he said it did something to me.

Not because Damian was the jealous type.

He wasn't.

Not unless somebody gave him a reason.

But there was something about hearing him claim me like that.

Like he was reminding himself before he reminded everybody else.

I rested my hand against his chest.

His heartbeat was steady beneath my palm.

Strong.

Confident.

Just like the man attached to it.

For a few minutes neither of us said anything.

We didn't have to.

The city could wait.

The phone calls could wait.

The meetings could wait.

Right now it was just me and Damian.

Just us.

And those were always my favorite moments.

He started rubbing his hand across my stomach, then my thigh.

I already knew what time it was.

Lord. Help me.

A smile spread across my face.

Ain't nothing better than waking up next to the man you love.

Especially when he’s looking at you like that.

Touching you like that.

Making you feel like you're the only thing on his mind.

I moved closer and rested my hand against his chest.

His eyes never left mine.

And that's what always got me.

Not the money.

Not the reputation.

Not the fact that half the city knew his name.

It was the way he looked at me.

Like I was his favorite place to be.

I ran my hand across his chest and smiled.

"You ain't got nowhere to be?"

Damian laughed.

"You trying to get rid of me already?"

"No."

"Then stop asking questions." Im about to be all up in you.

I rolled my eyes and smiled.

His hand found mine and laced our fingers together.

Simple.

Something so small.

But it always did something to me.

Because for all the stories people told about Damian King, they never talked about this side of him. The side that had feelings.

The side that reached for my hand.

The side that remembered every little thing about me.

The side that loved me loud when nobody was around to see it.

And maybe that was selfish.

But that Damian?

That one belonged to me.

He leaned over me and kissed my neck, while climbing on top of me and by that time I was so wet im sure there was a puddle on the sheets already.

I smiled.

There he went. Thrusting inside of me, making me sqirm.

Being the reason I couldn't think straight.

His lips brushed against my skin and I closed my eyes.

My nipples hardened as he began kissing one and squeezing the other at the same time.

Six different sensations flowed through me.

This had to be what heaven was like. As crazy as this may sound, that song Take Me to the King popped into my head.

Crazy, right? He had me feeling religious. It was that heavenly.

I’m coming baby, I yelled, He grunted. We came at the same time.

For all the power Damian had, for all the respect his name carried, moments like this were my favorite.

Just us.

No business.

No interruptions.

No outside noise.

Just the man I loved holding me like I was the best part of his day.

And if you asked me, that was better than anything money could buy.

A loud vibration hit the nightstand.

Once.

Then again.

Then a third time.

Damian ignored it.

I laughed.

"Your people ain't gonna stop."

"They'll survive."

The phone started vibrating again.

I reached over and grabbed it.

Three missed calls.

All from Rico.

I sat up.

"Damian."

His hand stretched out.

"Give me the phone."

I handed it to him.

The smile that had been on his face all morning was gone.

Just gone.

He looked at the screen.

"Shit."

I watched him throw the covers back.

Just like that.

The man who'd been kissing on me two minutes ago disappeared.

The Don was back.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

Damian stood up and ran a hand over his face.

"Nothing."

I rolled my eyes.

"Boy, don't start."

His gaze found mine.

And that's when I knew.

Whatever Rico was calling about wasn't good.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Nothing."

I stared at him.

"Damian."

He grabbed his phone and called Rico back.

The call got picked up immediately.

"Talk."

I couldn't hear Rico.

Only Damian.

His face didn't change.

Not once.

Then he looked down at the floor.

"How many?"

Silence.

"Who was there?"

Another pause.

"Fuck."

I sat up.

That got my attention.

Damian didn't throw that word around unless something was really wrong.

He ended the call and stood there for a second.

Quiet.

Thinking.

I threw the covers back.

"What the hell happened?"

He grabbed his sweatpants from the floor.

"The warehouse got hit."

My eyebrows shot up.

"What?"

"The warehouse got hit."

"By who?"

"I don't know yet."

"Is everybody okay?"

His jaw tightened.

He pulled his sweatpants on.

"I don't know yet."

"Damian."

"Tammy."

The way he said my name shut me up.

Not because he raised his voice.

He didn't.

But I knew that tone.

Something was wrong.

Real wrong.

He grabbed his watch off the dresser.

"Rico said they got there ten minutes ago."

"What did they take?"

"I ain't worried about what they took."

That made me pause.

Because if Damian wasn't worried about the money, then the money wasn't the problem.

I looked at him.

Then I looked at him again.

"Who got hurt?"

His eyes met mine.

Nobody said anything.

Shit.

That was my answer.
