Three days later…
“Hey Mary.”
I waved Bianca in. “Come on in, your timing is perfect. I’m the only one here.”
It was hard to have a private conversation when our husbands were around.
“Nice job on matching Colleen up with her handsome doctor,” my sister-in-law said. “I saw the engagement ring in the Facebook group. They seem really happy.”
“They are happy,” I confirmed. “I knew those two were perfect for each other. I can’t wait to start planning the wedding.”
“We did good,” Bianca replied. “But we still have a lot of work to do to get the rest of them married off.”
I reached under the table and unrolled the chart we’d made a few months ago, crossing off Colleen’s name with a black marker.
“Oh I know. Who should we match up next?”
Bianca and I studied the list of our children, both of us debating the options as we made a second list of every single person between twenty-five and forty in Cedar Creek. Suddenly my friend brightened.
“You know what? I know the perfect guy for Erin.”
I put a star by her name with the marker.
“Great, she’s next then. Tell me who you have in mind.”
