Chapter 4
Hunter
“How much longer are you going to be, man?” Viper’s voice comes from the other side of my bedroom door. I’m going to punch him.
I have just finished my shower, and I’m wiping my wounds on my legs. I don’t understand what he’s in a rush for. He isn’t even supposed to be here right now. “I will be out in a second.” I grab a fresh pair of pants and pull them on. I’m still buttoning them when I open my bedroom door, and Viper stands on the other side.
His eyes go to my groin when I zip up my pants, and I chuckle. “If you want to suck my dick, all you have to do is ask.”
He scoffs. “Ew, fucking gross, man.”
I shrug and walk past him. “You are the one who was staring at my crotch.”
His face turns red. “I only glanced because your movement drew my attention, that is all. Fucking weirdo.”
I raise my brow. “Why are you still here, anyway?”
He slumps back on the couch and then waves his phone at me. “Xavier called while you were in the shower.”
“What are you, my fucking keeper?”
“No, he just asked me why you weren’t answering your phone.”
I huff. “Probably because I was in the fucking shower.” Walking back into my room, I grab my phone from the charger, and see a missed call from my president. I let out a breath and press his name. Xavier may be my president and it comes with the respect that is due, but this is also the same man that I have known for longer than this motorcycle club has been running. We grew up together. Been best friends since we were kids. Even Viper was apart of our little crew growing up.
“It’s about time you fucking called me, Hunter. What the hell are you doing?” His voice grates across my nerves.
“I was in the shower.”
He laughs. “Well, you need to get on the road to make it back in time.”
I look at the clock on the wall. “Pres, I am not even supposed to arrive until the morning. I’ll be on time.”
“And how do you plan to get here without a bike?”
How does he fucking know I don’t have a bike? “Let me guess, Viper told you I got into a wreck?”
I hear his soft sigh. “You would be correct. Just take his fucking bike and get here.”
“How the hell is he supposed to get back to the clubhouse? I’m not letting him fucking ride bitch.” I groan. I can’t stand Viper’s bike! His seat is a piece of shit, which makes my ass hurt, and his suspension is trash. My back already hurts from the damn accident, and Viper’s bike is only going to make it worse.
His laugh booms from the other end. “I’ll have one of the new guys swing by with the van to pick him up.”
Great, another person who will know where my fucking safe house is. It won't be very safe if everyone keeps looking for its location.
I let out a breath and pinch the bridge of my nose. “Fine, let me grab something to eat, and then I will head out again.”
“That’s my boy. See you soon.”
He hangs up before I even have a chance to respond. Bastard, I am older than him by a full year.
Walking back out into the kitchen, I throw a nearby fork at Viper. “What the hell was that for?” he whines.
I point my finger at him. “Just because we have known each other for nearly most of my life does not save you from the ass-whooping I’ll give you if you continue to report back to fucking Xavier.”
His eyes widen. “I didn’t know your wreck was a secret, man.”
I shake my head and grab his keys off the counter. “I shouldn’t have to tell you not to say something. You should just know to keep your mouth shut.”
“Where are you going?” he asks as I head toward the front door.
I smirk at him. “Back to the clubhouse. Oh, and your favorite friend told me to take your ride. So, it looks like you are waiting for one of the new guys to pick you up in the van.”
“Fucking hell,” he groans.
I step out into the now dark night and head toward his bike, which is parked in my makeshift driveway.
I hate this fucking bike. I place the cocaine brick into a satchel and make sure it is locked up tight, then start the engine.
This ride is going to be absolute shit on this bike.
Viper is lucky I have known him since we were kids or he would never be caught dead riding for this crew. He is one of our founding members, but Xavier is our president and I am the vice president. We hold a little more power than he does when it comes to the decision making.
For anyone else, it would have been detrimental to answer the phone when Xaiver calls. But for me… I am not held to the same standards.
