CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO

–Bain–

I KNEW THE moment Bran’s men, formerly Niall's men, fell to a knee and swore fealty to us in Naya’s sky-high penthouse overlooking Boston that she wasn’t exactly pleased, and I didn’t blame her. In my defense, however, I had wrapped my wolven teeth around Bran before he could utter another word about how he would rule Tadc’s pack here, and Naya would bow down to him and suck his…

Everything after that was pointless to my ears. All that mattered was my mate’s and pups’ safety, so I’d shifted and pounced on him, far larger and stronger, and snuffed the life out of him before he had a chance to pull his gun.

Also, despite the flash of irritation I felt from Naya because she’d wanted this kill, she knew how to reclaim the moment by providing Niall’s pack with information about his shady dealings. I, too, gave her all the glory she deserved when I shifted back without hesitation, fell to a knee, and lowered my head to her, making it clear she was in charge.

“We are in charge,”

she clarified, urging me to stand before she declared to the men present that there were new wolves in town, as she put it. Though I felt her frustration over stealing her kill, she appreciated my gesture that she was above me here, even though it wasn’t true.

We were equals everywhere we went.

“And now yet another battle begins to see if they’ll listen,”

she said softly a short while later as we stood on her balcony looking down at a city I had only ever caught in my dreams. At a woman dressed yet again in a strappy black dress that drove me to distraction but she swore kept her from overheating despite the cold wind.

“And your Uncle Conner?”

I wondered, having seen no sign of him or my aunt. She had not replied when I reached out to her telepathically, but Gráinne could sometimes be like that. “Is he truly with us?”

“Yes.”

She frowned and sighed. “I can’t say where, but he is.”

“This was supposed to be his night,”

I murmured, sensing it within her thoughts. “His chance to keep you and your cousins safe and finally rise to the top.”

“I suppose it was,”

she said softly, even though I knew she had meant to take it from him so he could get out of this life. Her eyes met mine as the wind whipped her hair back and plastered her dress against the luscious contours of her body. “But I have a feeling it’s all working out as it should, and Uncle Conner and Gráinne aren’t permanently off the grid but will be here when we need them.”

“I don't doubt it,”

I replied, knowing Gráinne well enough to know she had a plan and would protect Naya’s uncle well. That they, too, had a role to play in all this.

Until then, a new woman was in charge of Niall’s Boston wolves, and those who didn’t swear fealty would soon be dealt with. The Wolves of Ossary were expanding in ways we didn’t understand, and it would help us not just here but also in the war we waged in my era. Until then, Naya didn’t want the Boston wolves causing the sort of harm they had been known for. Instead, she wanted them to team up with us to help our packs not only survive but thrive in both centuries.

Would that be possible?

Would they follow us?

I did not know.

All I knew as I adjusted to my new clothing and what I anticipated would be a split reign between my kingdom and the one we would grow here in this bright, exciting, different era, with a much different sort of wolf, would be powerful.

As powerful as the woman who sauntered to a chaise lounge, her hips swaying in a way that made my already hard cock ache for her even before she looked back at me and held out her hand so I would come to her.

Understanding what she needed and no more affected by the cold wind at this height than her, I slowly unbuttoned my shirt because I knew she craved the sight of my chest, sat back on the chaise she’d last forced herself to kiss Niall on, and waited.

Watched.

Just like I had watched in a million dreams for her to come to me and make me hers. Finally feel her flesh against mine. And she did, her eyes locked on mine as she slowly, inch by excruciating inch, pulled her dress up, exposing one lovely thigh at a time until she straddled me.

“Good boy,”

she whispered, running her soft, slender hands over my chest as if touching me for the first time, devouring me with her eyes as she yanked my shirt down over my shoulders, hungry to see more. Lowering her dress just as slowly, she exposed her beautiful breasts and let her hair down. “Do you like what you see, husband?”

She ground her hot center against me. “Like what you feel?”

I struggled to catch my breath at the sight of her. The feel of her.

“Very much,”

I murmured, trailing my eyes and hands over her with so much appreciation it was a wonder I didn’t explode then and there because she was the most erotic, perfect thing I had ever laid eyes on.

She leaned close, so close that her hard nipples brushed my chest, and her soft flesh teased me and whispered against my lips, “Then show me.”

Flicking her tongue deep into my mouth, she spoke into my mind. “Own me.”

Needing no further prompting, I did just that, not bothering with foreplay because we were already too needy. Desperate since the last time we’d had each other. Only now, we fully appreciated how sinful it was because I had stolen everything from the wolf who had her before me.

Not just his life and pack but very much his woman.

And while that might have broken too many rules to count in some realms, I didn’t care as I grabbed her mouth hungrily with mine, freed my cock, and murmured against her lips to take me in any way she saw fit. Tease me, pleasure me, or deny me. An order that still gave her control even though I was at the helm, keeping her safe.

I would, too. Always, and until the end of time.

Eager, ready, unleashed, Naya obeyed and sank onto me, and the night was lost to her midnight stranger becoming her fated mate, husband, king, alpha, and everything else she needed me to be. Everything she could ever desire because I would be again and again as I groaned at the feel of filling her hot, tight sheath, making me hers all over again.

She had felt better than all the rest before this, but here, now, in her era, with our offspring firmly rooted in her womb and safely between us, I felt more than I ever had. A new sense of primal awareness as she rode me, and I lost myself in my mate’s arms. Buried myself inside her until we roared in pleasure, knowing this was the beginning of forever.

A war still loomed, and the evilest of monsters still stalked the forests of medieval éire, but right here, right now, as I pressed deep inside my fated mate and queen and let go, I knew we were closer than ever to defeating our enemy.

There was no way to know what tomorrow would bring, but as I carried Naya to bed later that night and we continued ravishing each other, we knew the Wolves of Ossary grew stronger by the day.

Stronger as we expanded and loved like we didn’t know we could.

I intended to enjoy and cherish Naya’s body, heart, and soul with everything in me from that day forward. I would pleasure my savage Renegade with all the sinful desire she craved as who we were and what we would become flourished.

Her savage had met my sin, and anyone who went up against the Wolves of Ossary went up against us.

Better still, up against the power of fated mates.

Will Callum and Storm become fated mates against the odds and help defeat the enemy once and for all? Find out in the epic conclusion of the Wolves of Ossary, Of Fury and Fire.
