Chapter 13
Clementine
The boyfriend, Cali, stands at the door, it’s still wide open from when he entered.
Thank god we’re out in the middle of nowhere or I may have cared that someone could see what has happened, then again I probably wouldn’t have.
I like to pretend I have a conscience, but really I just enjoy wreaking havoc and chaos in any shape or form.
“Al-Ally, what happened here?” Cali asks again.
I look around at the bloody scene Ally and I have created. More me than Ally.
“Oh this?” I ask, acting nonchalant. “It’s nothing really. Just a minor disagreement,” I shrug.
Cali has both hands fisted in his hair, stress and anxiety outlining his entire body.
For some reason, I really don’t want to kill him too.
I don’t know if it’s Ally’s conscious holding me back, but something deep within is yelling and demanding that I let this boy go. Let’s hope he goes away easily.
“A minor disagreement?” He asks, his eyebrows reaching his hairline.
“Yeah. You know that’s nothing new for us,” I giggle.
Cali begins pacing back and forth. He stops at the body of Ally’s dead mother and his face has a green sheen to it.
I’m thinking there’s no way he’s going to be sick.
But he turns and runs back out the door.
Noises of gagging and vomiting can be heard from where I’m standing, a smile escaping at how funny I find this entire situation.
Cali reenters the house once more. He stops, taking a deep breath before coming to stand directly in front of me. He grabs me by the arms, rubbing them in an up and down motion, as if he’s trying to relax me while also getting himself together. Our eyes meet before he speaks.
“What are we going to do? We have to get rid of these bodies in a hurry,” he says.
I look him up and down, tilting my head to the side.
“There’s nothing to do. I have plans, so you really should go,” I tell him in a serious tone.
“Ally what are you talking about? If the cops find out about this, you’ll go to jail for life, worse you could be executed!”
He’s frantic and I can’t control the laughter that bubbles out of me. I’m laughing so hard, tears have formed on my waterline and are pouring down my face.
“None of this is funny! How are you laughing right now?”
Panic lines his expression. I bring my hand to his cheek to caress it and he leans into my touch.
“It doesn’t matter,” I whisper.
“Wha–” he begins, but I place my finger over his lips to hush him.
“You’ll understand one day, maybe.”
I see goosebumps erupt on his arms, the hairs standing straight up.
“Ally–” he says softly.
I slide my hand to his neck, squeezing hard. His face begins to turn red then blue, and a tear slips from his eye.
“She really does love you,” I say.
Cali’s eyebrows burrow in confusion and I use that moment to sling his head into the wall as hard as I can.
I hear a crack then watch as his body thuds on the ground.
I squat down, turning his face toward me.
Blood gushes from his head somewhere, his blond locks being coated red.
He’ll more than likely die soon, if he doesn’t get help. Oh well, not my problem.
I stand back up, looking around the room, and then sigh loudly.
“I’d love to stay and chat, but a girl's job is never truly done,” I giggle. Rushing to Ally’s bedroom, I spot my doll's body lying exactly where Ally left it this morning. I walk to the bed, picking it up, running my fingers through its hair.
“We’ll be reunited soon, gorgeous.” I smile.
Holding her close to my chest, I exit the house, heading to my final destination of the night.
Driving the stolen vehicle closer into town, I desert the car down some road.
I get out, feeling the wind blow through my hair.
It cools the heat of my skin, and I can’t wait to be out of this body.
Grabbing my doll's body from the car, I cradle her as I begin walking down the street, toward the old park we were ordered to meet at. I can hear Ally’s faint screams echo, pleading for me to release her body and set her free.
I shove her further back so I can focus on the task at hand.
I see more of the kids from the other families Savannah was tortured by walking also.
Some hold their dolls by their hands, others have them cuddled to them.
I observe some of the other dollies and can’t help but wonder if they had as much fun as I did.
I can only hope we made Savannah proud and happy.
Maybe, just maybe we were able to bring her some peace out of this.
If any one deserves it, it’s her. We continue to walk, the pull of being called home overcoming every single one of us.
It’s dark out, the only light to guide us is the full moon, although anyone of us would be able to find this place with our eyes closed.
We finally get close enough, and I can see a few of us already approaching the mansion.
My energy starts buzzing with excitement and I can’t wait to see Savannah and hear what happens next.
One by one we enter the gate. Standing in a straight line, side by side.
As soon as the last kid and their doll enters, we wait.
The door to the mansion slams open, a light shining through and a shadowed figure standing in front of it.
They wait a moment, then inch closer. Finally, Savannah's face comes into view causing a wide smile to come over my face.
Home, sweet home.
