Chapter twenty-three

Mako

Can you smell my shame?- Mathew ‘Mako’ Fate

Ryn is in my arms when I wake up. We’re on the far end of the bed, with Tyr and Digs closest to the door, and Envy beside her. I have a hold of her breast, and without thought, I flex. Her ass rolls into me, making me hiss.

I’m hard, so fucking hard.

I skate a hand down over her soft belly and cup her cunt gently as I lean in closer and kiss her ear.

“Wake up, Ryn.”

She moans, but her hips keep a steady pace, and soon, my fingers are sopping wet. I let out a growl. Tyr makes a sound, and I frown. The combination of our scents are thick in the air, but the beach, Tyr’s oak, and Digs’ almonds is thicker, hiding any sweet scent. I lick a trail over her salty, sweet skin.

I don’t want to share her.

I get up and pick her up, moving to the other side of the room, where, in the dark shadows, there is an armchair. In two seconds, I’ve dropped my pajama bottoms and torn the flimsy lace panties off her.

I stand up straight and find her eyes on me.

“Are you going to scream for help?”

She smiles, I can just see the white of her teeth, then shakes her head.

“Good, Omega, come and get on this cock. It’s been lonely and missing you. ”

I sit down and watch as the shadowy figure of this omega straddles my lap and sinks down onto my cock.

It’s so hard to stay still, but I lean back, pulling her up against my chest.

“Ride me, Omega. I want to see your tits bounce.”

“That wasn’t part of the deal. I’ll just go wake-”

Oh, this saucy little-

I thrust up into her, surprising a gasp from her. “Going somewhere?”

“Mm, no. Nope. I’m good here.”

I grip her hips and drag her up and down. The hot, wet sheath clenches around me as she rises and falls. It’s so good, I lose time just feeling her.

The hotel door opens, and I grip her hips, holding her still, listening intently. My vision goes red, and I realise I’m perilously close to being in a rut.

“Tyr?”

It’s Tony. I don’t want to stop. A wicked idea blooms in my mind, and I stand up and move into the corner behind the door, pressing the omega to the wall. I’m not stopping. Nothing is going to drag me from this omega’s cunt.

“Not one sound, you hear me?”

“But-”

The door opens, and I stand perfectly still, holding the omega to the wall while her pretty little cunt flexes around me.

I look at her and realise she’s really turned on by this. She bites her lip. I can just make out wide eyes before her head rolls back. Kinky little omega.

“Tyr!” Tony says.

He’s a few feet away from us, facing the bed. I slowly drag my cock out and ever so slowly push it back in.

Her breath hitches in her lungs.

I tighten my fingers on her thighs in warning, pinching the skin.

She nods her head.

I repeat the process, drawing further out and sinking in a little faster.

She gasps, but I’m prepared for it. I swallow the sound with my mouth.

“Tyr, you need to wake up! We’ve got a problem.”

I’ve got a problem. She’s sitting on my cock. And there is some fuckhead in the room. I bare my teeth, my head tilted to watch him.

I continue moving, keeping my movements easy and slow. There is something so fucking hot about fucking her with someone right there. We could get caught at any minute.

But we might not .

Or I could kill him and keep fucking her.

I let go of one of her thighs and slide my hands up, tweaking her nipple.

She gasps, but this time, I miss it.

Tyr sits up suddenly, letting out a deep growl of warning.

“Hush, baby, it’s just Tony,” Digs says, sitting up and wrapping his arms around Tyr to stop him from springing across the bed.

Tony clears his throat. “Look, we have to talk.”

I shove into her hard, and when she attempts to moan, I squeeze her throat with my fingers, trapping the sound. I nip her chin. She stares up at me in a desire-filled delirium. I shake my head in warning.

No, little Omega, not one fucking sound.

She mouths something, but I lean down and put my lips to her ear.

“Not a sound, little fish. You don’t want us to get caught, do you?”

She shakes her head again.

I’m close and so is she. I can feel her body shaking.

I flick my gaze back to the bed.

Tyr is blocking Envy from sight, but the alphas look pissed. Good. My own rage is building, mixing with this dark sexual desire and becoming something dangerous.

“Get out,” Digs growls, his eyes flicking to me. He looks worried.

“No, we need to talk. I’ve been calling for an hour.”

“Get out of the bedroom, Tony. It’s not safe.”

I shudder, breathing harder, and thrust deeper into this perfect fucking omega.

“What do you mean, it’s not safe? We need to talk about-”

“OUT!” Tyr growls.

“What?”

She moans. I’m too late to stop it. I can feel her body tighten around me like a bowstring. My rage explodes even as I feel myself catapult off the edge with her. I’ll kill him, I’ll kill him as soon as I’m done with her. I slam my mouth on hers, chasing her release with my own.

“OUT!” Tyr roars and sits up, his eyes locked on me.

I glare back at him, daring him to do something.

I let out a groan and slam into her, dragging her up the wall, pinned by her throat. With a savage smile, I piston my hips, sheathing my cock in her cunt over and over.

I’m so close.

“We need to talk Tyr, it’s-”

“GET OUT OF THE NEST!” Envy shouts in panic.

The whole room freezes, and with a grunt, Tony whirls, pulling the door shut .

I let out the savage growl I’ve been holding, unaware of how dangerous the room had become. I slam into her three more times, and then thrust once more, slamming my knot deep into her. Still, I don’t come, I can’t. Something holds me back.

“No one but us,” I snarl in her face. “No one gets those moans, those sounds, that scent, none of it. No one.” My mind is incoherent, growling words that I need her to hear. I need to make sense of later. I just know that if Tony had turned, they would have had to have killed me to stop me hurting him.

She is mine.

That singular, vicious thought blooms into my mind, and suddenly, the orgasm that has been evading me bursts through me. I snarl low and desperate as I climax, filling her with my cum. My lips find her throat, and I scrape my teeth over the spot.

“Mathew!” Envy snarls from right beside me.

I blink out of the orgasm haze and pull back, leaving her skin unmarked. I pant, shaking. Stunned by what just happened.

What was that?

My pack mate lets out a growl. I turn my head, our eyes meet and hold, before I turn away, wanting to hide. Stupid and dangerous. I shouldn’t have done it. I lean my head against the wall, scared by the strength of my feelings, scared of how lost I became in her.

Her arms wrap around me, and they tighten as if she can feel my distress.

“It’s okay, Mako.” Her words take away the anxiety.

I move us to the armchair and sink down. Ten minutes later, she wiggles off my lap and disappears into the bathroom.

I glance at Tyr, who flicks the light on and levels me with a flat, unimpressed look.

“What’s wrong?”

“How the fuck should I know?” Tyr spits out. Oh, he’s really mad. “If you ever do that again, I will beat you until you are bloody. Do you understand me? Tony is family, and you put all of us in danger.”

I look down; the shame twisting around me. “I didn’t think, but I won’t. I promise.”

“Do it somewhere else,” Digs says. “Not the nest.”

“It’s not a nest.”

“When an omega sleeps in it with a pack, and it’s a safe place, it’s a nest, no matter how it looks,” Envy growls. “Moron. How long have you been an alpha for?” He walks past, pulling on black jeans, and slaps me in the back of the head. It fucking hurts.

“Let's go find out what Tony wants,” Digs suggests, but even he levels me with a furious and pissed off glare .

Tony paces the kitchenette, running his hands through his hair. He looks really upset. He hasn’t noticed Ryn with her hand locked in Envy’s. Or maybe he’s choosing not to see her.

“Your sister.”

My heart sinks. Fuck. I look at Tyr, gauging his reaction, despair, exhaustion, hurt, and then it’s all wiped away and replaced with polite interest.

“She’s gone to the press. She’s got an outrageous claim that you guys have an omega.”

I tense and try really hard not to turn around and look at Ryn.

“We don’t,” Tyr says instantly. The lie falls off his lips far too easily.

“Yeah, but she’s been saying you do and have had one since you were kids,” Tony says with a lift of his eyebrows.

Oh, shit!

I jump towards Tony and pull him with me away from the others. “Get the mums on the line. Prepare for Typhor Raines to call. And get a hold of Sita and find out where she is so we can kill her.”

I look back over my shoulder to find Tyr standing there, looking defeated. Just complete devastation.

At least Auryn looks confused and not angry. That’s something, I tell myself hopefully.

“Just deny it.” She shrugs. “It's not true, so, you know, just deny it.”

“We will do that, but unfortunately, it’s going to sound a bit like we’re hiding it, especially since the contract we signed with Raines says we won’t have anything to do with an omega.”

Ryn, who was turned away from us, turns slowly back.

“What? Why would you sign something like that?” she shouts.

I curse fluently for an entire minute. I turn to look at Ryn.

“I forgot you didn’t know.”

Digs clears his throat. “We were young and excited, and we didn’t read the contract. One of the fine print conditions is that we won’t have an omega or be connected with one. No one expected Typhor Raines to hate omegas. The breach of contract conditions would have destroyed us financially. They still might. Plus, we would have lost Fate’s Choice.”

Ryn looks seriously ill and hurt. I want nothing more than to pull her into my arms and kiss her until she forgets everything we’ve just told her.

“We can afford it now, maybe. But it’s just better to shut Sita up and get her to retract this if we can,” I growl and pull a jumper on.

“So, you're not going to deny it?” Ryn asks.

“We can’t,” Tyr says bluntly .

I wish I could kill him. Sometimes, like right now, I hate him. The look of horror and pain on her face is there and gone. I’m not sure anyone else saw it.

“Do you have an omega or not?” Ryn asks, and the room falls into sudden silence. She’s frozen, her eyes darting between the four of us. “Just tell me the truth!”

I swallow hard. “It’s not what you think.”

“Do you have an omega or not?” Ryn shouts. “It’s a simple question. Is there an omega with your bonds waiting for you?”

Tyr closes his eyes, looking at me with regret written all over his face. “I fucked up. I’m sorry.”

Digs reaches out and pulls Ryn into his arms. She doesn’t even try to get away from him. “We have an omega. But it's a long and complicated story, and they know about you and are fine with it. We are always, always open with our omega. They love you, too.”

Ryn pulls away from him and then shoves him back for good measure. “Are you out of your minds? So, you just have some omega hidden and locked away?”

“No! It’s not like that. This is their choice! They don’t want to be a famous omega.”

“Who is she?” Ryn’s voice is shrill. “How can you be with me and…” she trails off, looking like she’s going to throw up.

“They know about you, and they fully support this relationship, Ryn. I can’t tell you more because there are other things at play, but trust me. Our omega is fine with this.”

“Fine with you seeing me through a heat?” she shrieks.

I grab her face and hold her still. “Yes. Fine with seeing you through your heat. Fine with us fucking you. Fine with all of it.”

She tries to get away, but I cage her up against the door, leaning in so I can whisper in her ear.

“You trust us or you don’t, Ryn.”

“You have an omega.” Her voice is agonised. “How could you…” she stops, shaking her head.

“Trust us. We would never hurt you.”

She hesitates and then stiffly wraps her arms around herself. “You need to deal with all this, and I need to think.”

“Okay. Okay. We might need to fly out, but just remember that you know us. We would never hurt you. Please,” I murmur, hating every single second of this.

She’s so closed off, her face has reverted to that mask that I hate.

“I’ll meet you at your next show,” Ryn says softly and steps back from me. The distance, a single foot, feels like a thousand .

It takes everything in me to let her go, to step back and watch as she turns, unable to look at any of us, her pain saturating the air. To stay still while she flees breaks something inside me.

“I’m going to murder Sita!” I snap.

“Tyr, what the actual fuck?” Envy shouts and shoves Tyr in the chest. “What the fuck were you thinking? Why would you say that to her? If you’re going to tell her that, the whole truth would have been better!”

Tyr just looks lost. He doesn’t even try to fight back.

“Why would you tell her that? She’s never going to come back. Fuck!”

Envy turns and walks away, kicking the kitchen table across the room before he storms into the bathroom.

I flex my fingers.

Tony looks up at us. “You need to tell her everything.”

Tyr shakes his head. “We can’t.” He stresses. “Imagine what he would do to her if she knew the truth. Typhor would destroy her.”

Tony growls. “Well, I don’t know, fuck! Maybe we can-”

“We’re going to go and sort out Sita before she tells everyone everything, and then we’re going to continue the tour. We need a few more weeks, and we have enough money to rescue ourselves. Maybe we’re looking at this being our exit tour,” Digs says. “Maybe it’s time we went home for a while.”

Tony stills. “Really?”

Digs looks at me, then Tyr, who nods. “Yeah, I think it’s time to go home.”

“Well, fuck. I’ll start making the arrangements. But let’s sort out your sister first.”

Tyr looks at his phone. “It’s the mums.”

I knock on her hotel room door. She doesn’t answer, but then I didn’t expect her to. I crouch down and slide the letter under the door.

It’s not much, but it’s something.

Sita pouts. She is beautiful, and that’s half the problem. She’s the omega of Carmine. Our little town doted on her, and she grew up to be a spoiled brat. We are all responsible for this train wreck, but right now, I’m ready to light it on fire and walk away.

When a couple of alphas blew in, she took up with them, developed a drug habit, and turned into this version of herself. This raging fucking bitch who steals and lies, who will blackmail everyone and anyone, and then scream that she’s a victim to whoever will listen.

I sigh heavily and try not to shout. I think I’m the one person she can’t twist around her little finger.

Tyr is close to tears, but nothing he’s saying is affecting her.

“If you tell them who our omega is, we lose everything.”

“I don’t care.”

“Sita!” Tyr’s harried-looking mother, Claudia, chides.

She has the same black hair as her children, but her eyes are a dark brown, and she has crow’s feet and an exhausted air around her. She never did tell any of us where she went during those years when she abandoned her children, but sometimes, like now, I wonder if she did it to save them.

“What? He has everything. It would serve him right to lose it. Besides, it’s stupid keeping your omega a secret.”

“Fuck you, Sita!” I snarl.

“No, fuck you, Mako. You’re a god damned coward!”

I really would love to slap this bitch.

“Let me be clear. If you spill your guts and hurt our omega, I will destroy you. I will bury you, I will lock you in a damn box to detox, and then I will destroy you again.”

“MAKO!” Claudia shouts.

I ignore her. “You’ve hurt too many people, and I’m done with it.”

“I didn’t hurt your omega!” Sita says sullenly.

“You hurt her!” I roar.

She recoils hard, and Claudia stops, looking at me in shock.

“What do you mean? Tyr, what does he mean?” Claudia whispers. “Surely, no, you said you haven’t spoken to her in a year.”

“Things change, Ma,” Tyr spits bitterly and sits down heavily at the kitchen table.

“Ryn knows we have an omega,” Digs explains without lifting his head.

“So you told her, right?” Claudia says. “You did tell her?”

“No! And risk her getting in more trouble. No way, I’m not putting her in danger,” Tyr hisses and rubs a hand over his face. “If you knew just how bad Typhor could be, you wouldn’t even be asking me.”

“Son, you have to tell her. ”

I turn away from them and meet Envy’s eyes. He’s still fuming. Hasn’t said a single word in the whole time we’ve been here.

He pushes off the wall in disgust and walks out onto the balcony. I follow him, needing space from Sita’s spiteful vitriol and Claudia’s excuses.

“Envy?” I prompt gently.

“Is all this worth it? I mean, it used to be, but is it still?”

“I can’t answer that for you, Envy. For me, there is no better place than being on stage, but lately, it’s become…”

“A drain? A bore? Depressing? Repetitive? Empty?”

“All of those.” I walk over to him and rest my chin on his shoulder. “Are you okay?”

“Truly? No. Typhor’s control over us is toxic. We need to get out of his clutches,” Envy whispers. “Even if it means we give up the stage.”

I close my eyes. “Okay.”

Digs comes outside. “Our car is here. Let’s go.”

I walk back in and grab Sita by her shoulder. “Let me make things crystal fucking clear, Sita. If one more word hits the press about my pack from your mouth, you won’t have to deal with Tyr. You’re going to be dealing with me.” I pause, staring into her wide, terrified eyes. “You remember that incident in the barn?”

She nods her head frantically.

“You go with your mum, you stay at this new facility, and you do your rehab or, after all this, I will have you committed for a year.”

“You can’t do that.”

I bare my teeth at her. “I can and I will, and no one will stop me.”

She starts to cry. “You’re so mean.”

“Yes. I am. And you’ve just cost me my pack’s happiness. So you’re going to see a whole new side of me.”

Claudia walks me out of the house she owns and gives me a hug.

“Fix things with her.”

“We’re working out a plan now,” I promise.

She bites her lip and glances back at the house. “Will-”

“I’m going to do everything I promised if she skips out, Claudia. It’s time she learns.”

Her shoulders drop and her face falls. “I don’t know how to help her.”

“A team is coming to admit her into a hospital now. How about instead of giving her an option, we let them take her? Sign her over to me so she can’t convince you to sign her out.”

“But-”

“You and Tyr are easily manipulated. Let me deal with her. ”

“It’s not your job.”

“You and Sita are my pack’s family. It’s my job as pack to look after us. Let me take care of her for you.”

“How long will she be in?”

“Twelve months or longer.”

Claudia wipes at her eyes and sniffles. “She will hate me.”

“No, she will hate me. That’s what I’m saying, let me be the bad guy for you.”

Claudia bites her lip and looks into the distance for a good while before she nods her head. “Okay.”

I exhale in relief, watching as the car pulls up and the staff get out. An ambulance appears a minute later.

I sign the paperwork while my pack sit in the van watching. Claudia cries, but I ignore it, focusing instead on Sita as she’s dragged to the ambulance.

“NO! No! You said I could have a choice! You said-”

I smile. “Do the rehab and stop hurting people, Sita, or things will get worse. If you need me to be the monster, I am more than willing to step up to the plate.”

“Mum, you can’t let them, Mum, please help me!”

I ignore her as I turn and walk to the car and my pack.

The next week passes slowly. There are lots of phone calls. Raines’ legal team threatens us six ways to Sunday. Sita is in the center and getting the help she needs. But we wait and wait.

Until Tony comes to us with the news. Our plane is ready. We’re getting back on the tour.

And we’re going to see her.
