Chapter Thirty Sawyer

Chapter Thirty

Sawyer

There’s a crushing weight on my chest and throat as I try drawing a breath.

Breathe, I tell myself. You have to breathe.

I try but feel like I’m suffocating.

Breathe. Scream. Something.

I muster everything I possibly can from the deepest pit of my stomach and let go, screaming through the blackness in my vision that feels like a nightmare.

Keep screaming.

Keep breathing.

I do it again, the darkness settling in.

Encasing me.

Trapping me.

Luring me to it.

Then, through blurry vision, I see lights.

Red ones.

Blue ones.

Yellow ones.

From a distance, such a far, far distance, I hear voices.

And I scream again.

Scream until my voice cuts out.
