Chapter 9

JAX

L ight streaming through my curtains wakes me the next morning, Christmas morning. I can’t help the goofy grin that graces my lips when I think about last night. It was amazing. Beyond amazing. After we had sex, we snuggled, and then Jax carried me into the shower where we washed each other. Then he said he needed dessert, so he carried me back to bed and feasted on me.

My thighs clench together at the memory of him between my legs eating me out like a man starved. Moaning, I shift, trying to quell the ache but instead brush against Jax’s hard dick.

“Ready for another round?” he asks, his voice husky from sleep.

Before I can answer, he pulls me closer to him, his dick brushing my ass in a way that makes me moan and squirm against him.

“You like that?” he whispers in my ear, slipping a finger between my legs, his other hand banding around me so he can play with one of my breasts.

“I-I don’t know.”

“Maybe we should find out.” He strokes a finger inside me, and I lean back against him as he adds a second one.

“We have to get up and get ready for brunch.”

“I know. But you need an orgasm first. It is Christmas after all. Consider it my gift to you.”

Not one to protest, I close my eyes and enjoy the way he’s touching me. Every time he touches me, it's better than before. I don’t know how he does it, but I’m not complaining. It only takes a few more strokes of his fingers before I’m coming.

“Fuck,” I mumble, trying to catch my breath.

Jax laughs, untangling himself and getting out of bed. “I don’t think we have time for that. Maybe later.”

I nod and roll over so I can watch him strut out of the room to the bathroom naked. I could get used to this—waking up next to him, falling asleep with him, making each other feel good. I know this is new and we’ve only spent a couple of days together, but for once in my life, I want to take a risk and see what happens. Maddy’s right, there is no reason I can’t go to Florida with Jax. Maybe not permanently if things don’t work out, but I can at least try and see what we could be. See if Orlando is where I want to open my inn.

“What are you thinking about?” Jax asks when he comes back into the room a few minutes later wearing a pair of boxers and a shirt.

“Going to Florida with you,” I blurt out, sitting up and pulling the covers over my naked body.

His eyes widen, and he sits down on the edge of the bed. “Oh yeah?”

“Would you want that?” I bite down on my bottom lip.

“I’d like that a lot.”

I smile, moving so I can crawl across the bed and kiss him. “I’d like that too,” I say when I break the kiss.

We stare at each other for a few minutes before he clears his throat and says, “Good because I’m falling in love with you.”

My mouth gaps open and I don’t think I’ve heard him right.

He shakes his head. “You don’t have to say anything. I just wanted to tell you.”

I suck in a deep breath. “I’m falling in love with you too, Jaxon Bennett.”

He looks at me like I just handed him a million dollars. “Really?”

“Yes.”

The word is barely out of my mouth before he’s kissing me again. We get lost in each other for who knows how long before I gently pull away from him.

“We should get ready,” I mumble even though that’s the last thing I want to do.

He runs a hand through his hair. “I know but I don’t want to.”

I chuckle, giving him one last kiss before hopping out of bed and heading toward the bathroom to use the toilet and get ready.

There’s a lot to figure out and coordinate if I’m going to move to Florida or take an extended trip there, but for right now, I plan to enjoy the holiday with my family and my man.

Christmas Day passes in a blur. Jax barely leaves my side, not that I’m complaining, and we sneak away a few times to make out in the supply closet. After dinner in the main lodge, we make our way back to my place and spend the rest of the night getting to know each other’s bodies.

The next morning, Jax joins Cody to go skiing, or attempt to, and I slip away to help Maddy check in guests who are arriving to celebrate the New Year at the resort.

A few hours later, Jax walks over to where I’m sitting at the reception desk.

“Whatcha doing?” he asks.

“Checking out flights. I found one for next week.” I frown. “I just can’t decide when to book my return flight.”

“Never?” he says with a shrug.

I chuckle. “Yeah, okay, but I still have to come back here to get Huck, my car, and my things.”

He pulls out his phone from his pocket. “I’ll hire movers for your stuff and your car.”

I shake my head. “And what about my dog?”

He blows out a breath, running a hand through his hair. “True. Let me see when I can take some time off, and I’ll fly back with you. I don’t like the idea of you driving the long distance alone.”

I roll my eyes at him, but before I can tell him that I’m capable of driving by myself, Maddy walks over.

“I’m always up for a road trip. When are we leaving?” She glances from me to Jax.

He grins at me. “You could forgo the plane ticket, save the money, and just move down.”

I shake my head.

“If it doesn’t work out, I’ll fly down and drive back with you,” Maddy offers.

I stare at the two of them for a few seconds, thinking about what they each said. What the hell, might as well go all in.

“Deal.” I grin at Maddy before turning my gaze to Jax who has the biggest smile on his face, his dimples that I love so much making an appearance.

He leans down and kisses me before straightening up. “Just give me a week or so to clean up my apartment and make space for you.”

I throw back my head, laughing. “I’m going to get my own place.”

He narrows his eyes at me. “We can talk about it once you get to Orlando.”

“Okay, babe.”

I’m sad when he leaves for the airport later that evening, but we make plans to video chat tomorrow after he’s done working.

I won’t see him for a few weeks, but I know I’ll be busy packing up my stuff and getting ready for the move, so I’m sure time will fly. And before I know it, I’ll be in Orlando with my boyfriend. Yes, we’re now boyfriend and girlfriend. On the way to the airport, Jax asked me to be his girlfriend. I, of course, agreed.

Best Christmas ever.

But I think it’s going to be an even better new year.
