CAL
N EAR THANKSGIVING – ALMOST ONE YEAR LATER
The coffee shop was bustling when I passed by to drive around to the back of the building where more parking was. It wasn’t often I got to come see Pierce on my lunch break since it was rare for the construction crew I worked with to do work downtown. But we’d gotten lucky and were doing an entire building remodel, which would keep us here for a few months.
And today was day one—day one of being able to see my boy on my lunch break.
I hadn’t told Pierce I’d be working over this way since I wanted to surprise him. And here was to hoping he would be able to take a lunch break during this rush. Didn’t look likely with how busy it was, but his boss loved seeing the two of us together the few times I’d been able to stop in since Pierce and I had gotten together on Christmas, so I was hoping she’d be open to letting me snatch him away.
After parking my truck beside Pierce’s old Toyota Camry—a car he absolutely refused to part with because it belonged to his parents—I turned my engine off and angled out, my boots thumping on the asphalt. After shutting my door, I made my way through the alley to the sidewalk. The bell above the door jingled when I pulled open the coffee shop door, but it could barely be heard over the loud chatter inside.
And there was my boy—dark wavy hair flopping into his eyes, his blue eyes bright, and his smile wide as he chatted with a customer while he made their coffee. His pink apron was already stained with coffee splatters, and he’d rolled his black, long-sleeve shirt up to his elbows, revealing the gold bracelet I got him for Christmas.
He wore it like it was a wedding ring, and I fucking loved it. It never came off, and it made something feral inside me wake up every time I had him beneath me and he was clinging to me, that bracelet dragging along my skin as he clung to my shoulders while I wrecked his pretty hole.
I bypassed the long line as Pierce handed the coffee over before heading to the register. I made my way up to the counter, sliding in front of the man in an expensive suit who was just getting ready to place his order. “Hey, the line is back there,” the man snapped.
“Fuck off,” I growled right as Pierce looked up, a friendly smile on his face. His eyes widened when he saw me, and then, that pretty as fuck smile he reserved solely for me spread his cheeks even wider. Chuckling, I leaned across the counter, gripped the back of his neck, and pressed my mouth to his in a hot, searing kiss that was definitely not appropriate for public, much less his workplace, but I literally gave no fucks.
Pierce was mine. I’d kiss him whenever and however I fucking wanted.
“Hi,” he gasped once I released him.
“You’re going on a lunch break,” I told him as I reached around him to untie the apron from around his waist. His boss looked over, grinning at us. “Tell Christie you’ll be back in an hour.”
“I can’t just—” Pierce started, but he was cut off by Christie, his boss.
“I heard,” she said, beaming at the two of us. “God, you’re so adorable around him, Pierce. Enjoy your lunch. I’ll see you in an hour!”
I winked at Pierce before stepping back and moving to the side. The man in the suit eyed me distastefully. I gave him a middle finger before looking at Pierce, who was gaping at me for my rudeness. “I’ll meet you at my truck,” I told him.
He nodded, his eyes all warm. Heading for the door, I pushed it open and walked back down the alley. Leaning against my truck, I crossed my arms over my chest and waited for Pierce to emerge. When he finally did, pushing out the back door and running his fingers through his slightly too-long hair, I pushed off the fender and made my way to him.
“I didn’t know you were working near here,” Pierce said as he slipped his hand into mine.
“Wanted to surprise you. We’ll be working on a building a few blocks down for a few months, so expect me in every day you’re working.”
His smile could have lit up an entire damn room. “Really?” he asked as I opened the passenger door of my truck for him.
“Really, sweetheart,” I assured him as I helped him into the truck. Once he was seated, I leaned in to give him a kiss while pulling his seatbelt around him. “What do you feel like eating?”
He sighed, running his eyes over me. My blood heated, and my cock thickened. “Are you on the menu?”
I shook my head. “Not right now, sweetheart. For dinner after I’ve had a shower, yes.” I wouldn’t put my sweaty, dirty cock inside any of his holes. I cherished his precious body way too much for that. “You need real sustenance. Think about what you want.”
I pushed his door shut and rounded the hood before climbing into the driver’s seat. Reaching over, Pierce grabbed my hand in his. “Somewhere quiet?” He closed his eyes and leaned his head back against the headrest. “It’s been busy all day .”
I squeezed his hand. “Fast food and a park to eat at?”
He nodded, opening his eyes to look at me as a soft, sweet smile tilted his lips. “Sounds perfect.”
