CHAPTER ONE

BENJAMIN

J une

Leo is barking when we walk out of the coffee shop on Sixth Avenue, which is unlike him. It has Novas circling us as he makes a phone call. Being well known always comes with lack of privacy from the media and people in general. I scope the area around us to find nothing unusual until I spot her . The one woman who I would happily allow to be my downfall. My instincts tell me she is what Leo is fussing about. Right or wrong, I drop his leash with the hunch he is going to dart straight for her. He does. Sprinting across the sidewalk, weaving through people with precision as I slowly follow behind.

Leo barks when he gets closer, pulling her attention from the fountain to him, and she greets him with a smile. I’m glued to the sidewalk as she beams down at Leo and ruffles his ears. His tail speedily wagged. Before I can make my way to them, the unthinkable happens. In slow motion I watch as she tries to uncross her legs from sitting on the edge of the fountain, only for Leo to jump up into her lap causing both of them to tumble backwards into the fountain causing a large splash that seems to hit several passersby.

Damnit Leo .

I rush to Everleigh’s aide, helping her stand up to at least get her bearings. Leo has already escaped to the ground and is shaking the vileness water from his coat onto everything and everyone within several feet from us.

“Not on my bingo card to deal with a wet dog today,” I scowl, but he pants in happiness like he did a job well done.

I then lift her up out of the fountain, flushing her to my front. Not giving a damn my Armani suit is saturated with fountain water. Because I see her nipples poking through her soaked hot pink sports bra and clinging wet cream t-shirt making me rock hard. Fire crackles between us and it’s scorching. I begin to walk off, but her voice stops me.

“Stop, my bag. I need my bag.” Carefully taking one hand off her, pointing to the bag.

“Leo, fetch the bag.” He does and trots gallantly behind me until I reach the front of the coffee shop. Still not putting her down as she still looks bewildered by all of what just happened, “Novas, keep Leo out of trouble please. Going to take her in to freshen up.” He nods and hooks Leo to his leash and hands me the bag from Leo’s mouth.

We head straight to the family bathroom, and I lock the door once we are in, letting her slide down the front of my body slowly. She looks everywhere but, in my direction, and I instantly hate it and long for her to look over at me.

“Um, if and when the next time we meet, can your dog not shove me in water? I’m starting to take it personally.” The right side of her lips tilt up in a smirk and I am swiftly back in her space, pulling her chin to face me. I rub my thumb gently over her cheek.

“I’ll have a stern talk with him. Though I think he is just preening for your undivided attention.” Her long eyelashes flutter over her eyes before she glances up at me. Desire pooling in her storm clouds with a waiting gaze.

“Does he think he has competition for my attention?” I leaned in, barely an inch from her lips, still stroking her cheek with my thumb.

“I think he believes he is competing against the entire world for your attention. I think he believes you are the most celestial beauty he has ever encountered with tranquil honest eyes that highlight your expressive face that seems genuinely elated every time he sees you. I think he feels a sense of pride to be able to be near you.” Knock, knock. She clears her throat and steps back from me, when I turn around to tell the person to go away. “I guess we can’t stay here forever, where can I go and pick up something for you, so you are not walking around in wet clothes again?” I’ll be damned if she thinks she is leaving this room without a change of clothes. She shakes her small drawstring bag in front of me.

“I have backup,” she states smiling. “I learned the last time to always be prepared to get wet, even in New York.” I give her a heartfelt laugh, because I realize she is clever too. With her back to me, she pulls her wet t-shirt over her head, dropping it to the floor. I watch her pull out the tight wet bun, letting her caramel swirled hair fall in waves over her bare back.

“Everleigh,” I growl out with cavernous resonance.

She slows her motions, turning to face me. Fuck…I need to be with her like I need to breathe. One night won’t ease this infatuation but maybe two will and I can get her out of my head finally. I quickly crossed the room, backing her up against the brick wall. She swallows her nerves as I fight the desire thrumming through my veins to take her right up against this wall. “ Give me the weekend with you,” I whisper gravelly as I lean down placing my forehead on hers. My hand wrapped in her hair, holding her head from looking away. She slightly shakes her head no .

“I’m sorry, I can’t.”

“Can’t or won’t?” She leans back enough to lock eyes with me, and I’m being sucked into her whirlpool of storm clouds.

“Um…both. I won’t because I’m not a one night or a weekend kinda girl. I can’t because I fly back home Friday night.” A low growl evades me, causing a shiver to run across her body. My hands instinctively run up along her bare arms causing goosebumps to pepper across her smooth olive skin. I go to touch her face but then trail my fingers over her jawline down to her neck, brushing up against her hair that is now shirking up to ringlets over her shoulder. Everleigh shivers again and I take pride knowing her body reacts to my touch.

“Then let me steal a kiss, so I don’t have to imagine any more on how your lips feel against mine and how you taste.” She releases a soft gasp, as we stare unabashedly at each other. “Say yes,” I whisper, inching close to her mouth. My eyes watch as her tongue pokes through her pink lips to wet them, “Everleigh, tell me I can kiss you,” my body pressing against hers. She has nowhere to go between my body and this wall.

“Yes.” I move my lips to the shell of her ear.

“Yes, what? You have to say the words, baby.”

“Ye-yes- you can kiss me,” she stammers. I’m not giving her a chance to repeat or to change her mind. My lips slam against hers, gripping her waist and she mewls. I’m done, so fucking done and so far gone it’s unearthing.

Everleigh

Benjamin nips and sucks my lips and then peppers kisses along my jawline down to my nape. It’s intoxicating. Shit, he’s intoxicating by his woodsy, cedar mixed with vanilla scent, his domineering presence, his overall allure. Second time meeting this man and it’s like lightin’ to my heart during a heat storm on a scorching summer night. This moment is heady, and I can’t even tell down from up, as he lifts me up and I wrap my legs around his waist.

I don’t do things like this, I don’t allow for it because I am always focused on my dancing, my goals. Being a Rockette. Not that anyone has ever granted my attention in the way this man has either. Since the first time we met, I’ve not been able to escape his eyes from my dreams. His voice from my thoughts. I feel his breath by my ear.

“Tell me to stop Everleigh,” he pleads but I can’t tell him to stop. I need something more from him, though unsure the answer to that thought might be more than the physical need in a coffee shop bathroom. “Baby,” he says breathlessly with a plea. I encourage him by grinding my core against the bulge in his fancy tailored suit.

“Kiss me again,” I breathlessly say. He slams his lips to mine as his hand snakes down my front into my leggings, skimming my center with his fingertips.

“Tell me you are pooling wet for me and this is not just from the fountain.”

“Mmmm, it’s all you.” My fingers dive into his dark strands, tugging, as I kiss up along his jawline. His fingers push aside my panties, gliding them through my wet folds.

“ Fuck,” he groans out, “I’m going to make you feel so fucking good, baby,”

“Please,” I whimper out. Nothing but being with this man has ever felt so good. He thrusts his fingers deeper. I shudder in overwhelming pleasure, moaning his name, grinding into his palm, knowing I am crossing every line I have ever set for myself, but damn, I need this. As the tingle shoots down to my toes as I let out a muffled scream into his shoulder. He groans in lust and frustration.

“That’s right baby, squeeze and soak my fingers… just like that.” He stokes me until the pulse subsides and we both are breathing rapidly. I miss him as soon as he pulls out of my pussy and steps back from me. Only for my jaw to slam the floor when he sucks his fingers into his mouth, then licking between them to make sure he doesn’t miss any, any of me. “You taste as sweet as sin like fresh honey in a jar.”

I’m blinking rapidly trying to decipher the moment I let my guard down to being finger fucked in a coffee shop bathroom with a near stranger. Then his mouth is on me, our tongues dueling, as I taste myself on his tongue and lips and I think I need another round of whatever this is with him.

“I’m…ummm..” before I can say another word, my phone alarm dings loudly letting me know I have fifteen minutes left of my break before practice starts back up. “Shit, I need to go, but good lord that makes me look worse than a two-bit hooker, doesn’t it? Um, Thank you….”

Shut the fuck up Leigh, you did not just tell this man thank you for an orgasm.

I feel the blood rush through me and my cheeks flush red, as I rush to get dressed. “That’s not what I meant, or maybe it was,” as I look at his tented pants, my eyes widened, “and I don’t, can’t reciprocate because I have to go but I promise this is so far out of character for me and I think I might be in shock and…” He grabs my shoulders, steadying me.

“Everleigh, breathe. Don’t worry about me. It was my pleasure to make you feel good. Just tell me when I can see you again.” He glides the back of his fingers against my cheek, and I want so much to lean into them and not let this moment pass.

“It will be months before I am back and then I have a very strenuous commitment.” My ten-minute warning bell goes off, I lean up on my tippy toes, placing a soft kiss on his cheek. “You will be hard to forget Benjamin. I’m just not in a place I can give even an ounce of myself to someone. So, this has to be good-bye.”

With tears burning in my eyes, as my heart breaks for a man I barely know, but my whole body and soul yearns for, I rush out of the bathroom and out the coffee shop doors. I do a quick bend down to Leo, “Such a good boy, you are. Take care of your person for me.” Then with a kiss to his big head, I rush around the fountain, down the block through the doors to my dream.
