Playing for Keeps
Prologue
The Domestic Noir Plot drummer Ansel Daily and pop superstar Lyric Adair split after two years
by Dominique Eisenstadt
A source close to the drummer confirmed to Notoriety Magazine that the pair have gone their separate ways. “Officially, the breakup happened a month ago, but the relationship was rocky
for a lot longer. Ultimately, they wanted very different things.”
In June, rumors that Daily had been unfaithful to the singer sent the internet into a frenzy after a blind item was posted
to a popular gossip blog alleging the drummer has an affinity for hooking up with fans.
“It’s f——ing disrespectful is what it is,” Daily said, directly addressing the rumors in an Instagram Live. “I didn’t do s——.”
Two years ago, Adair and Daily were first spotted together in Amsterdam, holding hands outside the Rijksmuseum. Later that
summer, the pop star attended the Domestic Noir Plot’s tour shows in New Orleans and New York, hard launching their relationship
with an onstage kiss after joining the band for an encore performance of their hit song “Gone Girl, Gone” at Madison Square
Garden.
Last week, Adair announced her next album, Santa Ana, which is set to release on October 26.
Notoriety Magazine has reached out to Lyric Adair’s rep for comment.
Update (July 6, 5 p.m.): While Adair’s publicist, Rosaline Sinclair, did not reply to our request at the time of this article’s publication, she did
make an unrelated statement on X (formerly known as Twitter).
