18. Epilogue

Three Years Later

Ethan stood behind the small boy with sandy blond hair, pushing him. Each time he went a little higher, and my heart jumped. “Higher, Daddy. Higher!” He let out a small squeal as he kicked his legs. Jaxon was a daredevil.

Dominic was as nervous as I was, sitting in the sandbox beside Scarlett. They were building a castle, but his motions faltered as he watched the scene unfold. “That’s high enough for now, Ethan.”

Ethan simply gave him a small smile. “Okay, only one more push.” Jaxon stuck out his bottom lip in a tiny pout, and I shook my head at everything.

Hunter wrapped his arm around my waist and nuzzled against the side of my neck. “Just wait until you see his new trick for the slide.”

That was something I didn’t want to see. I could only imagine, especially after finding him climbing up the hallway walls, scaling them using only his hands and feet. It was another reason I decided that bunk beds weren’t safe for either child.

Scarlett only seemed subdued because she was focused on the castle in front of her, her bottom lip caught between her teeth in deep concentration. Jaxon had taught her to climb the wall by bracing herself the same way. Tiny footprints covered the gray paint, but I couldn’t bring myself to paint over them or clean them.

Things had changed for our family over the past few years. The kids took up most of my days, and my nights were spent coordinating criminal activities with Rory and Enzo. Joey ran Inferno’s day-to-day operations. He knew more about the business than I did anyway, an advantage from working for both Oliver and me.

I was expecting our third child, but the guys didn’t know it yet. We had decided to try again several months ago, and surprising them was hard, especially since the three of them were too observant.

“What do you think a good name for a baby would be?” I whispered to Hunter.

He pressed a kiss to my neck. “What?” And then the realization hit him. He spun me around to face him before lifting me from the ground and embracing me tightly. “Really?”

I gave him a tiny nod and the most beautiful smile broke out on his face. “Are you happy?”

His words echoed my own—the same ones that I had uttered when we carried Scarlett home from the hospital. “Very.”
