Chapter 17

Ryan
“I hate to leave, but I gotta go get ready for work.” Court kissed my lips and got out of bed to gather his clothes from the floor.
I propped up on my elbows, not the least bit shy about checking out his perfect ass, which was turned in my direction. “Why don’t you come back here after you get off tonight?”
He glanced over his shoulder, a smirk playing on his lips as my gaze lifted from his butt to his eyes. “Are you going to be waiting for me like last time or will I have to wake you up?”
I shrugged. “I don’t know, but I’m sure you can think of a creative way to wake me up if I am asleep. Besides, tomorrow is Saturday, so we can both sleep in and then spend some time together before your next shift.”
I hoped I didn’t sound too needy, but seeing him at the restaurant earlier with Dalton had thrown me for a bit of a loop. Never before had I experienced bone-deep jealousy like I had when I saw him having lunch with another guy.
He smiled. “Well, if you insist.”
“Oh, I do.”
Once he was dressed, we went into the kitchen where he grabbed his lunch he hadn’t eaten, and I gave him the code to unlock my front door.
“I’ll see you later.” I kissed him goodbye, and began counting down the minutes until he would be climbing into my bed.
Shortly after Court left, I received a text from my dad:
Declan has a client dinner tonight. Want to meet up downtown for drinks?
It had been a couple of weeks since I’d seen my father, so I typed out a quick reply:
Sure. When and where?
The Backyard in thirty?
See you then
I tossed my phone on my dresser and changed out of my T-shirt and work out pants and into a nicer T-shirt and jeans. The Backyard was a casual bar and grill and didn’t require getting dressed up. Although Dad had only mentioned drinks, I’d worked up quite an appetite with Court, and decided to pass on the seafood I’d gotten earlier in the day in favor of one of the grill’s kickass barbecue bacon cheeseburgers.
When I walked into the restaurant, I quickly spotted Dad sitting at a high-top table in the bar area and let the hostess know the person I was meeting was already there. Walking over to him, I clapped him on the shoulder before taking a seat across from him. “Hey! How’s it going?”
“Can’t complain.” He took a sip of his whisky. “How about you?”
“Been busy.” I grabbed the list of beers on draft and looked it over. “Work has been kicking my ass.”
“Yeah, I figured you’d come here straight from work.” He eyed my outfit. “But you obviously had time to go home.”
“I was able to sneak out of there early today.” Even though I tried to mask it, I knew I was smiling like an idiot.
Thankfully, our server chose that moment to come over. “Hi there. Can I grab you a drink?”
“I’ll just take a pint of Sam Adams.”
“Okay. Do you two want to order any food or stick with drinks for now?”
“I’ll take the barbecue bacon burger and fries.” I tucked the beer list back in the holder on the table.
“That sounds good, actually. I’ll have the same,” Dad said.
“Perfect. I’ll get that order in and bring you your beer.”
“So, you didn’t want to go to dinner with Declan and his clients?” I asked as soon as the server walked away.
“He doesn’t need his boss breathing down his neck while he’s trying to impress clients.” He chuckled. “But don’t think you can change the subject that easily. You didn’t hide your smile very well a minute ago. It wouldn’t have anything to do with that guy you’re supposedly seeing, would it?”
Fucking Morgan. “So much for sibling code,” I groaned.
Dad barked out a laugh. “Now you know how it felt when she ratted me out to you.”
My sister had been the one to figure out Dad was dating someone when she caught him buying a Rolex watch as a Christmas gift. I happened to call while they were in the car together after finishing their shopping trip, and Morgan spilled the beans about our father having a boyfriend.
Our server dropped off my beer, and I took a large drink. “What did she tell you?”
He shrugged. “Not much. She was mostly bragging about her matchmaking abilities. She did say his name’s Court, and he’s a bouncer at the Sapphire Lounge.”
“Yeah. His job makes it a little difficult to see each other, but I really like him.” It felt as though I was downplaying our relationship, but I didn’t need every loved-up member of my family watching and waiting for me to fall next.
“If things continue to go well, you should bring him to an upcoming family dinner,” he suggested. “Morgan already said Donnie is coming to the next one.”
If someone had asked me a year ago if my dad, sister, and I would have a family dinner with all our boyfriends present, I would have said it would never happen. Maybe Morgan would have somebody, but I hadn’t been looking for a relationship, and back then, I thought Dad was straight. It was wild how things could change so quickly.
“We’ll see,” I replied.
Our food was delivered, and we dug in. The saucy burger hit the spot, and we stuck to other topics like work and the Red Sox through the rest of our meal.
“Thanks for coming out tonight.” Dad pulled me in for a hug after we exited the restaurant. “It was nice catching up.”
“It was. I’m glad you decided to text me.”
“And you’ll be at dinner next week?”
“Yes, but likely alone,” I teased.
He nodded. “No pressure. We’ll be happy to meet him whenever you’re ready.”
Dad headed back to his office, where his car was parked, while I made my way to the nearby parking garage. I planned to go home and get a little sleep so I would be somewhat rested when Court came over.
The soft click of the front door woke me from my sleep. I tried to stay awake for Court, but the late hour and my warm bed made it impossible.
The sound of footsteps grew closer, and my bedroom door creaked open. Court’s silhouette appeared in the doorway, his broad shoulders unmistakable even in the dark.
“Hey, baby,” he whispered. “You awake?”
“Barely.” I yawned. Flipping on the bedside lamp, I watched through bleary eyes as he undressed, but instead of moving to the bed he turned for the bathroom. “Where are you going?”
“I’m gonna take a quick shower, but I’ll be right back.”
Before I could argue, he disappeared into the bathroom, and I heard the water turn on. Thankfully, he stayed true to his word and a few minutes later, he slid under the sheet beside me. His naked skin was warm against mine as he wrapped an arm around my waist, pulling me close.
I turned to face him. “How was work tonight?”
“Long.” He sighed. “But thinking about you waiting here for me got me through it.”
I leaned in and brushed my lips against his. “Well, let me help you unwind then.”
Court’s fingers tangled in my hair as he deepened the kiss, the stubble on his chin lightly scratching mine. Slipping my hand under the covers, I slid it down his chest and over his abs, feeling the hard planes of muscle beneath my fingertips before moving lower.
He groaned softly as his hips rocked into my touch. “God, I’ve been thinking about this all night,” he murmured.
I started stroking him slowly, feeling him grow even harder in my hand. His breathing quickened as he gripped my hip tightly.
“Stop teasing,” he growled playfully.
“Weren’t you the one who said patience is a virtue?”
“Yeah, and I can admit when I’m wrong.”
Remembering how he hadn’t kept me waiting, I decided not to torture him either. I kept my gaze on him as I moved down his body and licked my tongue over the head of his cock, lapping up the pre-cum beaded at the tip.
He groaned and leaned his head against the pillow. “Fuck. Please suck my dick.”
“Well, since you asked so nicely.” I slid my lips down his shaft and cupped his balls with my hand. His hips immediately jerked forward, ready for me to take him all in.
My lips stretched over his shaft, and he thrust until his tip bumped the back of my throat.
“You’re so good at this,” he moaned. “But I don’t want to come in your mouth.” Before I realized what was happening, he had me flipped onto my back and was hovering over me. “I want to be inside you.”
I nodded eagerly, spreading my legs to accommodate him. He reached into my nightstand and grabbed the bottle of lube. He quickly lathered himself in the silky lubricant and lined himself up with my greedy hole.
He pushed into me slowly, his thick length stretching me open. As he sank deeper, I wrapped my legs around his waist, pulling him closer.
“I love how you feel inside me, babe.” I cupped his face with my hands, overwhelmed by the intensity of the emotions swelling inside me. Somehow, Court had worked his way into my heart, and I knew without a doubt I was falling for him. Still, I wasn’t ready to put those thoughts into words. Instead, I closed my eyes and focused on the pleasure he was giving me.
“Damn, I can’t get enough of you.” He picked up his pace, and our bodies moved together in perfect rhythm.
I reached down and began jerking my dick. “Don’t stop.”
“I’m going to come,” he shouted as he held onto me so tight I knew he’d likely leave marks on my hips.
“Do it,” I begged. “Come inside me.”
It didn’t take long before I felt the warm spurts of his cum filling me, which sent me soaring over the edge. Court collapsed on top of me as our breathing returned to normal.
“If only I could be woken up like that all the time.” I chuckled.
He pushed up on his arms again. “I can definitely crawl into your bed more often.”
Maybe every morning. I quickly pushed the thought away, not wanting to get ahead of myself. But if things continued to progress the way they were, I could see that happening in the near future.
“Not going to turn down an offer like that, but for now, I need a shower and then some more sleep.”
My phone ringing woke me from what may have been the best sleep I’d ever had. Groaning, I rolled over and out of Court’s arms to feel around my nightstand for the offending device. I rubbed my eyes with my free hand so I could read the screen and saw my sister’s name.
“What’s up? Aren’t you supposed to be on a romantic getaway?”
“Ryan,” she sniffled. “Can you come get me?”
I had a flashback to the night she called me from the Sapphire Lounge, and I shot up in bed, feeling the same level of concern as I had that night. “What’s going on? Are you okay?”
Court stirred and looked at me with worry on his face.
“Morgan,” I mouthed to him as she started to answer me.
“This has been the worst trip ever,” she cried. “We’re staying at his friend’s cabin that was supposed to be rustic, but it’s nearly falling apart. It barely has running water, and it’s dirty as hell. And cell service is spotty, so I’m calling you from the bathroom of a restaurant Donnie took me to for lunch.”
I let out a sigh because it was likely Morgan was being overdramatic. “Can’t you tough it out another day?”
“No. We’ve been fighting the whole time. He told me he needed to run into town yesterday and left me alone for hours. Hours, Ryan. Hours! He’s being a jerk.”
Given the fact she hadn’t been angry with him the night he left her alone at the bar with Court and the drug overdose recently, I assumed things had to be bad for her to be so upset, and I really didn’t like the idea that he’d left her in a strange place all alone. Still, it seemed odd he wasn’t willing to leave as well if they were having a miserable time.
“Why can’t he bring you back home?”
“He refuses to leave until tomorrow night. He said he planned to be here the entire weekend and owed his friend a favor, so he’s not leaving a minute early.”
“Okay, give me the address. My car is in the shop, so it might take me a minute to figure out my car situation, but I’ll be there as fast as possible.”
“Hold on. I put the address in my notes on my phone so I could tell you.” She rattled off an address near Tully Lake, about an hour and a half from Boston. “Thanks, Ryan. I’m sorry for needing you to rescue me again, but I really appreciate it.”
“Call me if things get worse. Otherwise, I’ll see you soon.”
We hung up, and Court rested his hand on my leg. “Is Morgan okay?”
I shook my head. “Not really. She wants me to go pick her up. She said the cabin is horrible, and she and Donnie have been fighting the whole time, and even left her alone for several hours while he went into town without her. For some reason, he refuses to leave, so I’m going to pick her up. She’s up near Tully Lake.”
Something flashed across his face, but whatever it was disappeared quickly. “You said your car is in the shop?”
I nodded. “Yeah. I’ll probably just rent something.”
“What if I went with you?” he suggested.
“But you have to work tonight.” I didn’t know why I pointed out the obvious because the drive would be so much better if he were with me, but I didn’t want him to feel obligated to go with me either.
“We should make it back in time, but I can always tell them I’ll be a little late. Your sister is more important.”
“Are you sure?”
He leaned over and gave me a quick peck. “Absolutely.”
